Beijing Private Garden tour: The Summer Palace and Beijing Botanical Garden

For a great escape from the bustle of the city without having to venture too far, this day is dedicated to visiting two of the most prominent gardens in Beijing, the Botanical Garden and the Summer Palace.The tour not only explores the natural beauty of areas ,but also the culture and history.

Your day will start with a pickup from your centrally located hotel in Beijing where you will meet the tour guide at 9:00am.

First you will drive pass by the Olympic Park and stop for photos.Beijing Olympic Park is where the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics took place. The two famous stadiums are -The Water Cube and The Bird's Nest ,The Bird's Nest was the main venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, when it had a capacity of 91 000 spectators.

Then heading to the Summer Palace.The Summer Palace in Beijing – first built in 1750, largely destroyed in the war of 1860 and restored on its original foundations in 1886 – is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value.The Summer Palace combined political and administrative, residential, spiritual, and recreational functions within a landscape of lakes and mountains, in accordance with the Chinese philosophy of balancing the works of man with nature.

With your knowledgeable and experienced English speaking guide,you will hear all detailed stories and historical about this Palace, and learn the essence of the Chinese gardens.The Chinese have a totally different perspective on what a garden should be and it must be seen to be understood.

Stop at a local restaurant for a delicious Chinese Lunch.

Continue to the Beijing Botanical Garden.Covering an area of 400 hectares, it is renowned as the largest botanical garden in North China. The garden contains not only a great variety of rare trees and stunning flowers, but also houses a number of historical attractions.

Your tour will conclude with drop-off back at your hotel.

This was a fantastic tour! Both Bella, the tour guide, and the driver were very professional. Bella spoke English very clearly and was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the Summer Palace. Just thinking of the Beijing Botanical Gardens brings a smile to my face. It was wonderful timing, spring time, the flowers were in full bloom and the fragrance is unforgettable.
