Morning pick up from your downtown Beijing hotel by your tour guide in the time range from 6:00am to 7:00am. Jinshanling Great Wall is the remote and isolated section of the Great Wall.
It takes 2.5 hours to get from Beijing to Jinshanling Great Wall. It is one of the best preserved parts of the Great Wall; Its charms attract the hiking fans all the times. With a distance about 87 miles northeast of Beijing city, Jinshanling Section connects to the Simatai Section of the wall in the east and Gubeikou section in the west.
Hike and enjoy sightseeing of the Jinshangling Great Wall for a total of 3.5 hours. This is the most representative part of the Chinese brick-made dragon architecture. Only very few tourists make the longer trek out there so you are most likely guaranteed a relatively peaceful hike experience.
By the end of this hiking tour, you will have lunch at local restaurant and drive back to your downtown hotel at around 16:00pm.

This was an amazing tour, away from the busy tourist side. We basically had the wall to ourselves so we had great photo opportunities and an intense hike . Our guide Nancy was informative and excellent, she has a great passion for her work. The lunch was delicious as well. No shopping trips so this is highly recommended

After booking the tour online, a week prior for the Sunday tour, we did not receive ay confirmation from the third party tour operator China Travel Depot on the pickup time from our hotel. We asked our hotel to call on our behalf. It wasn't until the day before the scheduled tour, in the late afternoon, they called our hotel reception and confirmed the pickup time as 6:20am. The driver arrived promptly the next morning. We were picked up in a small van, but then transferred to a bigger bus after picking up more passengers. From there the tour started. When we arrived about 10:30am at the Simitai entrance it started raining cats and dogs, complete downpour, Our tour guide Chan suggested we buy ponchos from the store. It was recommended that we walk up to the Great Wall and take the cable car back down after 90 RMB extra. Please be aware we were not informed beforehand of this extra cost. If we did not want to pay for the cable car, we would have to separate from the group and walk all the way back the way we came. However, given our exhaustion by the end, we were grateful not to have to climb the steep stairs back down. The spectacular view was well worth the climb. Thankfully, the rain cleared up by 11:30am. Although some parts of the wall were extremely difficult due to the steep steps, we were not rushed and were able to take our time. There were a few other tourist trekking the wall as well, while we were there. But we were able to get lots of pictures without anyone else in the photos. Lunch after the climb was delicious. We finished a little after 1pm. By 2pm, we were eating at one of the restaurants in the water town, at the bottom of the wall near the entrance. The drive back took a bit longer due to traffic. We did not get back to our hotel until almost 5:30pm. All in all, it was a great tour and worth the value.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!!!! JINSHANLING IS CLOSED!!! THEY TAKE YOU SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!_br/_ We had fun, but not what we booked. they take to a place called Simitai instead. While Simitai is good, it is not Jinshanling. It says in the subtext of the booking that Jinshanling is closed and they take you elsewhere, but I guess i did not read carefully enough. Regardless... why the hell are you selling a tour to a place that is closed? Stop selling a tour titiled JINSHANLING!!!! sell a tour called SIMTAI!!! ridiculous, that you are selling something and delivering something else. Seriously VIATOR, traveling in china is confusing enough... be a strait shooter, advertise what you are offering, and deliver what you are selling.

The tour was great! The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the confirmed pick up time I was told was 8:30am, but at 6:15am there was a knock at my hotel door saying it was time to go! Luckily I was able to throw on my things and get out in time, but not a very nice way to wake up

This section of the wall is beautiful! Very few tourists and almost no locals selling trinkets, just a few in the towers selling water/beer/soda/snacks. I gave this tour 4 out of 5 stars because the bus ride was advertised to be 2.5 hours, but it took over 4 hours. We arrived near the wall at 1145 am and were brought directly to the restaurant for lunch. We arrived at the wall around 1pm and were given 3 hours to explore the wall and then meet back up at the bus. We did not return to Beijing until 9pm. The long day is definitely worth it, but I wish the day's schedule had been more accurate.

The trip to the Great Wall was long due to traffic. When we arrived we were very pleased with the choice we made to walk this portion of the wall. Less crowded and less commercialized. Though at one point during the the walk we had to verbally be aggressive with a local who was trying to sell my wife a T-shirt during a challenging portion of the walk. The vendor leaches on to you and are very difficult to get rid of. They will fallow 3/4 of the walk and demand money from you because they thought they were providing you a service. Unfortunately they do not understand no/stop/or get lost. Shouting at the vendor was our only option and it did work. Besides that the sites were beautifull and very challenging. Took three days to recover. Another issue was when we got back to Beijing the guide made a stop at a subway station suggest that passengers take public transportation to their hotels because of traffic saying that it would take over an hour to drop them off. Did not listen to his advice and stayed on the bus and we were back at our hotel in 15min. Despite the negatives it was good value for the price we paid.

Amazing part of the wall. Barely anyone except our tour group around. Guide provided information on bus trip out which was great and then we had plenty of time to walk the section at our own pace before meeting. Included delicious lunch which was a bonus.

Life changing. This was amazing!!! The tour guide picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. Chen was very funny and informative and this section of the wall was completely secluded. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE. Amazing amazing experience. Defintely recommend this tour!

The experience of the Jinshanling Great Wall was spectacular, this was not the problem,sadly we were subjected to a 2.5 hour delay on the return from the Wall, we went through a Police Check, which was known to the Tour Operator, it was not explained to us, of course, the tour was due to return to Beijing and our Hotel 17.30, I personally did not return to my Hotel until 20.30.

Great section of the wall to hike. Would not recommend for the physically challenged. There are some very steep parts of the wall and dangerously steep stairs. This section of the wall contains the majority of the original stones, untouched by renovation, making it the most dangerous parts. The view is spectacular and it is the least crowded section compared to the others. When we went, it was only our group of 20 on this section of the wall.

We traveled to Jingshanling at the end of November. It was awesome. It had snowed for the previous 24 hours so the roads were tough closed and alternates were too steep for the bus so it took us 5 hours on the drive from Beijing only 3 hours on the return. But the Wall was empty and blanketed in beautiful snow. I can't believe it was open, ...and that we didn't fall to our death! Not a tour for the mobility restricted! But so glad we did it.

This tour is great, specially if you don't take the cable car but choose the option of hiking / walking the great wall. The only issue I had is that they didn't provide the pick up service in my hotel as offered...

Highly recommended. If you want to have the Great Wall pretty much to yourself Great photos without the crowds this is for you. I'll admit it was hard going as I am Asthmatic but I managed to keep up with the group. Take plenty of water and wear comfy sturdy shoes to save your ankles as the wall is steep and uneven in places . A once in a life time experience.
