Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip with English-Speaking Driver

This private Great Wall tour with an English-speaking driver can make your Great Wall tour much easier and at a good price. The driver can explain some history to you, help you buy the tickets and tell you how to climb the Wall. Tour the Great Wall at the Mutianyu section, regarded as the most beautiful, with less tourists.
Your English speaking driver will pick you up at the hotel at approximately 8:00am for the 1.5 hour drive to the Mutianyu section of the wall. This is the only section that has the toboggan down from the wall. You may take the cable car up to the Wall. The entrance tickets and the shuttle bus ride between car parking and entrance included. The cable car tickets and toboggan is not included. The driver can help you purchase the tickets.
After a few hours of hiking the wall, and many photo opportunities, it's back to your hotel at approximately 4:30pm.
If you like to go other sections, it is can be tailor-made for you as well.
Great trip! Mr. Guo was great! He picked us up at the hotel, bought our tickets for us and took us up to the Great Wall, the non crowded way, and took our pictures for us. Very nice and really helpful. This is a great area of the The Great Wall. The toboggan ride down was a lot of fun too.

This was completely overpriced. The only thing our driver did was drive us to Mutianyu. He did not talk to us or explain anything. I am pretty sure we could have hired a car and driver for less money and then experienced the wall the same. The Great wall itself and the cable car and toboggan ride are great! Definitely go see this part of the Great Wall but there is no need to pay 45 a Person for this Tour!

My two children ages 9 and 7 and I visited the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall with a driver that I booked through Viator. I wanted to take my kids to see this iconic site, and since my husband was working and couldn't come with us, I figured a private driver was the way to go. We were assigned a very personable driver named Mr. Ma, who ended up going above and beyond for us. Instead of just dropping us off and waiting for us to finish our visit, he came up to the Wall with us so that both my children could ride the toboggans down as they each needed to go with an adult. Afterwards, he directed us to a restaurant that served noodles per my kids' request and helped me haggle an excellent price for some souvenirs. He really made our visit to the Great Wall an enjoyable one, and I was very grateful for all his help.

Bruce was very punctual and waited at our hotel lobby with the sign that had my name on it. The drive took around 2hrs, and when we reached, Bruce gave us an option of buying tickets by cableway up or toboggan down, we chose both of them from the same company. As everyone mentioned, people had to stop and take a shuttle up whereby he just bypassed everyone and went straight to the entrance. After, he told us to take 2-3hrs, or longer and said if we took longer it didn't matter. No rushing on his part, and he said he'd wait at the subway. So after 3.5hrs, we went down and Bruce was waiting there patiently. We requested to be dropped off at a famous roast duck restaurant so he recommended Quanjude and then dropped us off there. It was a good private no hassle trip to the great wall and I highly recommend Bruce!

We highly recommend Mr. Guo! He was very friendly, efficient and an impeccable driver! Mr. Guo picked us up at our hotel as arranged. He paid extra care to help out my husband who has a knee problem, even offering a walking stick. We do not speak Chinese and Mr. Guo's English was limited, but he made up for it his friendly personality. Our first booking through Viator. We are definitely glad to have booked our trip to Mutianyu Great Wall in advance. Our guide, Mr. Yang, met us in our hotel lobby promptly at 8am, as scheduled. We were driven in comfort through the agricultural areas outside the main city of Beijing up into the hills to Mutianyu. Mr. Yang was friendly and informative. It was wonderful to see just outside the city center. The trip to Mutianyu took about 90 mins drive. Mr. Yang paid for our tickets to the wall and our bus fare to the gondola. We only had to pay the gondola fee. I highly recommend taking the gondola. He walked us all the way to the bus that takes us to the gondola and arranged to meet us at the base at 2pm. We had a great day on the wall. As we were there early on a week day, it was not crowded at all. We felt we had plenty of time to explore and get a work out with all the climbing! We were returned to our hotel by 4pm. Mr. Yang provided his phone number 13901034239 in case we needed him again. He also speaks fluent Japanese. I highly recommend booking this trip.

We had a great trip with David about 2 weeks ago. He picked us up right on time, drove us to the wall, took a photo, helped us with the tickets and explained everything. After we had a fantastic time on the wall we met him again at the bottom and helped us getting lunch and then drove us back. He very kindly dropped us off at our desired next stopping point the temple rather than at the hotel which saved us a trip. The car was in super condition, clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this trip for a hassle free and convenient way to enjoy this must-see attraction. We took the chair lift up and the luge ride down - great fun. I guess it also helped that we were super lucky with the weather - clear skies and a breeze, so not too cold and not too hot! Thanks a lot, David!

I was in China for work and really wanted to visit the Great Wall. As a solo female traveler, I wanted to hire a private driver to take me there and back to have a more comfortable experience instead of worrying about how to find a bus and communicate in my poor Mandarin. Based on good reviews, I booked this online. A few days before the trip, I called to confirm and asked to have the driver info. I was texted the info for the driver which was very clear. On the day of the trip, the driver Mr. Wu met me at my hotel with a sign around 8 a.m. He immediately put me at ease with his strong English and friendly demeanor. He also provided a lot of information about Mutianyu and the Great Wall as well as bottled water. The drive to the Wall took over an hour. Mr. Wu then got my tickets and accompanied me up the mountain on the ski lift. He took many great pictures of me at the Great Wall, which is a wonderful keepsake of my trip. He then gave clear instructions about where to meet him afterwards, and I was able to explore on my own for as long as I wished. I then met him at the agreed upon location, and I was back at the hotel by the mid-afternoon. This was very well-organized and seamless in execution. I found this to be a highlight of my time in China, and I highly recommend!

Great trip up to the Great Wall! The car was extremely clean and comfortable, and the driver was professional, easy to talk to, and very accommodating when we changed our drop-off location. Pickup at the hotel went smoothly, and we had plenty of time at the wall to explore on our own. We enjoyed being able to walk the wall at our own pace without a guide or a tour group, and brought a picnic lunch to eat along the Wall, which worked out perfectly. This section of the wall makes for a good short day trip it took about 1.5 hours to get there - there are more remote sections that are higher in the mountains, but it was nice to be back in Beijing by mid-afternoon. Highly recommend!!

Great all around experience with David our driver on this tour. I highly recommend booking this tour if you wish to avoid packed tour buses and a quick travel time. I believe the 8:00am departure is necessary as we got to the wall at around 9:00am thanks to our friendly driver Mark in which you can enjoy the wall without the hustle and bustle.

My Great Wall trip to Mutianyu was incredible. Anyone coming to visit the wall should come to Mutianyu over Badaling because its less touristy, fewer crowds, and has a better atmosphere to soak up this location. Our driver Kevin was fantastic throughout: insightful and very accomocdating. He went over and above what was required as our driver and really helped us make our wider China/Beijing trip even more special. If you could put complete trust in someone you only just met, that is Kevin. Not only did he handle our Great Wall trip, he handled and organised our Tiananmen Square/Forbidden City/Palace Museum trip he paid for us in advance due to Chinese credit card requirements and also booking for us for which we would not know how since the specific booking for the Palace Museum tickets are in Chinese only.

Great Wall of China is amazing! We booked the private trip with English speaking driver as it was highly recommended.It was a good choice. Our driver Kevin was fantastic.He spoke very good english, he had lots of knowledge which he shared with us about China,the history, people,life in China. Pickup/drop off point from our hotel. Kevin took us to Mutianyu Great Wall, explained what is best to do and we went to discover the amazing Great Wall. Kevin was waiting for us at the entrance. It takes about 2 hours to walk one side of the wall. On the way back ,we asked him to stop somewhere for lunch. Kevin took us to a fantastic restaurant, amazing food,amazing dumplings. We had a great driver, Kevin. He was polite and accommodating. After we were done with the Great Wall, we asked him to take us to a nice Peking duck place and were very pleased with his suggestion. We also asked about an acrobatic show that we'd read about in one of the reviews on Trip Advisor, and Kevin promptly helped us get tickets and drove us over to the theatre after lunch. My 7yo son had a great time at the acrobatic show at the Chaoyang Theatre.

Take this Private Mutianyu Great Wall Tour! Kevin was our knowledgeable guide and took care of everything perfectly. He picked us up on time and we drove about 1 hour from central Beijing, arriving early enough to avoid any crowd. This tour is exactly as advertised with no wasted time on shopping or side trips. This is a real travel destination experience and is almost impossible to accurately describe other than to say it is truly one of the wonders of the world. Prompt pickup by Oscar who took us around the wall and dropped off at the airport. This is not a guided tour so be prepared to explore on your own. We only spent 2 hrs on the wall but I recommend at least spending 3-4 hrs. Oscar also took us to a great lunch spot which served authentic Beijing cuisine. Overall a great experience and whilst slightly pricey would still highly recommend it.

Kevin was great, picked us up on time and dropped us off where we wanted - the olympic park! Told us some history around beijing and the wall and let us relax on the way to the wall as we were both quite jet lagged still. A very independent tour which is what we wanted, Kevin helped us get our tickets and showed us to the cable cars and let us have several hours to do as we wished. To anyone who wants to take a tour of the Great Wall, BOOK THIS TOUR! Kevin was an amazing driver for my girlfriend and I and we are not regretting signing up with him one bit. Kevin met us in our hotel on time and walked us to his van. He spoke English and was very informative about the surrounding areas in Beijing on the way to the Great Wall. When we got there, he asked us if we wanted to take the cable ride or walk to the top, and he also asked how we wanted to get back from the Wall which the options are Chair life, the slide or walking. We opted to take the Cable ride to the top and also opted to take the chair lift down from the wall.He personally paid for these and got us our tickets, which we paid him back later. He then led us to the entrance and let us have our alone time for 3 hours. He waited on us the whole time and met us by the Subway restaurant when we were done, he asked us if we were hungry and wanted to grab a bite to eat before we left which we did, and then he took us back to our hotel. The drive from our hotel to the Great Wall was approx. 1 1/2 hours each way and we're talking about Beijing traffic folks. This traffic is CRAZY! Kevin held his composure the whole drive which I commend him on. Also at the end of the tour Kevin gave us a parting gift from his company which we are using as gifts for our families. Overall I have no complaints with this tour, it was A-1, Kevin was awesome, the drive was awesome with a clean vehicle. To sum it up once again... BOOK THIS TOUR!

If you want to walk on The Great Wall of China,You need to take this trip. My wife and I went to China with a travel group of 12 people,we were the only ones to sign up with Viator,we were also the only ones to actually walk on the Great Wall. There are 1100 to Fourteen hundred step up to the Great Wall,and maybe harder to walk down. Take the lift up and ride the toboggan sled down,it's a lot easier.

Kevin showed our family a great day around the Great Wall. He spoke great English and gave us some insight into the culture. He really customized our tour, which was necessary given our young children who had limited patience for an only-hiking day. In the end, we went to a Jade gallery to see some amazing Jade and embroidery artwork, went to see the amazing sights at Mutianyu portion of the Great Wall, and then had a great time with the toboggan ride after the cable car ride up then Kevin took us to the Chaoyang Theater for an amazing acrobat show just as memorable as the Great Wall!. After that, he dropped us off to an amazing restaurant for some of the best Peking Duck in the city. We would definitely enlist his services in a future trip! What a full and memorable day!

Our driver Kevin was very prompt, punctual, fluent in English and friendly. He showed up on time at our hotel and the car was clean and good too. We then drove to the great wall and Kevin explained how to get in, the hike and the different routes. We hiked for about 2 hours and met with Kevin outside the wall post our hike. He then drove us back to the city and on our request took us to an amazing schezuan lunch place which we loved very much. Highly recommended!

STAY AWAY. The driver Tony spoke no english at all. He was a maniac and we were almost involved in a head on collision. I was sick, I vomited and even fainted after the ride. He had zero patience and I wasn and #39;t able to get any pictures when we got there. I got zero for an extremely overpriced booking.
