Bora Bora Lagoon Cruise and 4WD Tour

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

See the best of Bora Bora by land and sea with a combination of popular tours that includes a morning 4WD tour of the island and an afternoon boat cruise. Circle the island by 4WD to take in majestic views of the tropical paradise from a number of stunning lookouts. After a lunch break, hop into a boat to discover the underwater beauty of the ocean and get close to stingrays, sharks, fish and coral gardens. Learn about local culture from your guides and get fantastic photo ops throughout the day.

After morning pickup from Vaitape Pier or your Bora Bora hotel, hop into your open-sided 4WD to begin your tour of the island with your friendly professional guide.

Travel about 20 miles (32 km) around the island with several stops at postcard-perfect viewpoints including East Matira lookout, which overlooks a shimmering lagoon. Your 4WD then scales the mountain to reach Faanui Canon lookout where you can check out canons that were left behind by US troops when World War II ended.

Stop at a small workshop in Faanui Valley to learn how craftspeople make colorful tie-dye sarongs and coconut oil. Then taste delicious tropical fruits at a small plantation before heading to Amanahune Bay lookout where you admire volcanic rock formations from the ancient caldera of Bora Bora.

After a 4-hour island tour with your knowledgeable guide, take a break at your choice of restaurant where you can purchase lunch and enjoy approximately 1.5 hours on your own before your next adventure.

In the early afternoon, you are transferred to the lagoon to meet your boat for your ocean excursion. Either catch some sun on deck or sit under the sunshade as your captain heads to your first stop, a calm lagoon with waist-deep water and plenty of stingrays. Using the provided snorkel gear, you can hop in the water to observe the gentle and friendly rays up-close. You may find several rays swimming around you, an amazing experience that you wont forget. Or simply observe from the boat if you prefer.

After seeing the rays, head to another spot where you can see black-tip reef sharks gliding gracefully through the water near your boat.

Finally, cruise over to a stunning coral garden where you have plenty of time to snorkel and soak up the beauty of the colorful corals and fish. At the end of a magical day seeing Bora Bora's natural treasures, your guide returns you to your hotel.

The only think I was conserned about were safety and comfort. The capacity of the boat is 12 passengers, but actually we have 16 passengers with no even place to sit where. They have to sit on stairs and on the nose. Overall, the lagoon cruise was great, food was good, and 4wd was also very intetesting. I would like to ask guides to speak english not only french.

When we arrived at the pier from the tender- we boarded a boat which took us to 3 different snorkel locations in beautiful waters._br/_ The crew was entertaining- playing the banjo and singing to the passengers. Not too crowded and then they got into the water with us-_br/_ allowing us to touch the stingray and went down in water to point out various fish. Then we were taken to a beach where we were served a delicious lunch by the islanders. We actually sat on the beach with feet in the water to eat our lunch._br/_ The we were taken back to the port where we got into an open 4WD Jeep with another tour guide who tool us on a land tour._br/_ The entire day was great and thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

Very windy day with some rain. However, the two outrigger operators who by the way were both excellent musicians! made the best of it and took us to FOUR excellent snorkel spots. Outside the reef spot with many sharks was personal favorite, but manta ray, sting rays many! and just fish spot all had their charms. This part ended with very nice lunch and Tahitian beer on a private motu small island, with plenty of time to climb to the top amazing views and relax.

Incredible tour in a very beautiful place. Very good tour itinerary Many exciting adventures. We had snorkel swims in 4 different places .The tour guides were really helpful and I noticed they offered life jackets and a rope to some not so advanced snorkelers ! Nice touch !. Everything went well. They know where to find the sharks / sting rays etc and beautiful beaches / islands.

This was an amazing day! Best snorkelling I've done in several different locations, great BBQ lunch on a private island followed by 4WD trip into the interior for the best views of the lagoon. A bit crowded as 2 groups were combined into one at the site of the lunch and boat trip back to Bora Bora. Very full satisfying day. Would highly recommend.

The Lagoon cruise was excellent. We had a great guide and saw some outstanding sites including Sting Rays, Sharks and a huge Moray eel. The women in our group did not like that the Lagoon tour was the first part. That meant they had to wash off, fix their hair and change before the 4WD tour. The facility for doing this was not great. As they filled up the 4WD tour jeep, we were left behind. We had to wait about 15 minutes for another jeep to arrive. Not the best guide, but a very interesting person. After a couple of VERY bumpy rides up to the top of the island, we were ready to just stay at Bloody Mary's for the remainder of the tour. I would still recommend this tour.

Would have been better if land tour first and lagoon cruise after. Too hot in the afternoon to be crammed in the back of a truck. Otherwise really enjoyed it.

Excellent tour. Our guide on the 4X4 part of this excursion was amazing . . . funny and very, very well informed about history, geology of the area and current events. The sea cruise was also very good with stops at several places along the reef to swim with rays and sharks. There are a couple of things that seemed unorganized. First of all, most of the participants expected that we would first do the 4X4 tour on land therefore, swim suits were in bags and not on bodies. There was no place to change so several people chose not to swim. We had lunch at a beautiful, private island however, I was uncomfortable that those people who had only purchased the sea part of the excursion had a different lunch than the rest of us and sat in a separate area. There was also some confusion about the number of people continuing on the 4X4 excursion and a second jeep had to be called on._br/_ All of that being said, I would highly recommend this excursion.

A must! The 4WD tour is the best way to see the island. Django, our guide, was awesome. The second half of the day we joined another group for snorkeling. We swam with sting rays and sharks. We even them. Perfect day! The sting rays are adorable. All they want is food!

We took this day trip ...it was the best tour of our 10 days in the South Pacific. We were on the Crystal Symphony and booked most of our tours outside of what the ship offered and this was the highlight. The small boat accommodated about 6 or so couples ...we had a great lunch on a private Motu and continued on with part 2 of the tour in a 4 wheel drive vehicle .We are seniors and were a little concerned about the full day of activities but they made the day very safe and comfortable. We went thru a rainstorm to get to the blue lagoon but it was worth every moment.Feeding the rays and swimming with small sharks is something you never forget and may only dream of attempting.Go for it !!!!!

Had a fabulous trip. Met by tour with our names on a board which was helpful as coming off a cruise ship there were heaps of tours touted. Left from pier by boat to swimming with sharks then the large manta rays then further to the others and finally the coral garden where our guide led us on a snorkelling tour. I was a bit tired from swimming by the end so best to let them know if you're not a strong swimmer. But amazing day in warm water although overcast we did get very burnt. Our fault so wear a tshirt or coverup with sunscreen. Then we were dropped a jetty at the Bloody Mary resturent famous from South Pacific movie and plenty of time for lunch before being taken on our four wheel drive around the island by Jango? He was just so enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about his country that we could not help but love the afternoon. What an amazing day we had! Highly recommend it!

we had an amazing day. Firstly we were picked up in Vaitape by Chris for a short drive to pick up a few more people, then it was onto the jetty where more people waited. We were divided into 3 boats and then we were off. First stop was the coral garden where we snorkeled with some lovely fish. Chris fed some fish there so they were swarming around us. From here we went onto the site for the stingrays and black tip reef sharks. This was absolutely amazing. We all climbed into the water which was only about waist deep, Chris was handing out fish pieces that we put on the snout of the stingray and it would stay with you. Black tip reef sharks were swimming in and around us without a care in the world. Word got out that a Manta Ray was a little distance away so we all very quickly got back on board and headed to the site. Most of us were in the water very quickly to see this beautiful majestic creature. We had an older gentleman on board who didn't swim very well so Chris got him all fixed up with a life jacket and floatation device and pullled him along so he didn't miss out. Back on board for the next stop which was outside the reef to swim with black tip reef sharks and Lemon sharks. Very exciting and a lot of fun, the atmosphere on board was great. Had lunch on Motu and then we headed back by boat to be picked up for the 4x4 adventure. Rapa is such a character, we had 6 on the tour and we all had a great time. All our questions were answered, we asked questions about Bloody Marys and we stopped there for a drink. Further down the road if he saw something on the side of the road that he thought was interesting, he would pull over and tell us about it. The lookouts were amazing, the roads up not great but the views spectacular. Where they make the print the Pareos sarongs we were given a gift of a woven basket and hat, lovely. Over all we had a great day and would recommend to any one.

Review by:   Paul S,    April 2016 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
This tour was just average. They say that you have a choice for restaurants but they just drop you at Bloody Mary's for an hour and a half where you purchase your own food. They give you an hour and a half due to the service taking that long to get you a beer and a burger. It is very hot inside and not a place most people would choose to sit and sweat for an hour and a half. The 4x4 part of the tour was again very hot due to the type of vehicle. The views from the stops very very nice but the ride is a bit rough in some spots where you are holding on tight and the older people in our group were having trouble. The snorkel spots where nice but we had been to them the one of them the day before on a trip we booked off the dock for half the price which we all agreed was a better tour. There were many tour operators at the dock with better tours and better prices.

A great way to see what Bora Bora has to offer, all in one day. The lagoon trip was wonderful - that water is unreal, the 2 boat operators were great fun and talented musicians was not expecting to be serenaded! and the 3 stops were each unique and exciting. The land portion was also wonderful - great views and very informative.

The 4WD was awesome, and our guide knew so much. I doubt that I have ever had such a personable and knowledgeable guide. Unfortunately, the snorkeling portion was a big disappointment. I don't think the boat driver said more than a couple sentences about ANYTHING we were doing, seeing, or experiencing.

First half 4WD truly outstanding due tp our personable and knowledgeable guide. The snorkeling portion was worthless due to a guide/boat driver who didn't seem to care about discussing. explaining, or communicating in any way. Worst snorkeling excursion I've ever been on.

Because we were late getting off the ship, we had a private tour led by Juliano. He took us all around the island to places the cruise ship tours couldn't get to. We have great pictures from atop the mountains. We had an opportunity to see tie-dyeing and see how the women and men use this piece of material as part of their daily attire. The tour was supposed to last 2 hours however, Juliano gave us a 3 plus tour. We had a great time and saw much of Bora Bora.

Although it was a rainy day, it was a nice tour. We did only the lagoon Cruise. Due too the weather conditions our 4WD tour was cancelled. Refund between tour operator and viator was arranged without any problem.

Also provided snorkel gear if needed. _br/_ 4WD tour - super friendly and knowledgable tour guide: Jango. We drove past a food truck and he even bought us a doughnut to try.

Booking through Viator was not very easy, they never provided the info that we needed and then when they did it was incorrect, we were lucky that our hotel concierge was able to check the details for us. The 4x4 tour was lackluster, it was nice to see the island however the guide did not provide many details of the island and really only stopped at the touristy places to shop. The lagoon cruise and snorkeling was amazing, our tour guide Sam was great to work with and very helpful, this was quite possibly the best snorkeling that I have ever done. Swimming with the sharks black tip reef sharks and lemon sharks was just amazing, as was the stingrays. The fish and the spot where we were could not have been better. I would certainly recommend the lagoon cruise to anyone.

A fabulous tour! We saw the island from mountain peaks that gave spectacular views! Let it be noted that lunch is at Bloody Mary's. A great place, lots of fun. The afternoon of snorkeling was nothing short of fabulous!!! We were taken to an area with sting rays and sharks. What an adventure!!! The water is brilliant turquoise and warm and like no other snorkeling! AWESOME!!!

We drove in a 4X4 up some steep hills that overlooked the reef. It was a gorgeous view. We saw the WWII remnants of guns and a bunker. It was scary and bumpy, but it was fun. The only thing I didn't' t like was that the drive/guide spoke so softly that it was hard to hear at times. I wished he had added more details, too about Bora Bora.

My husband and I had a great time on the tour, Hiro our 4x4 guide was so welcoming and fun. We got to tour the island in a cool Defender and stopped at some spectacular view points.
