Fall Foliage Sightseeing Tour from Boston

Boston, United States of America

Marvel at the spectacular New England countryside on this scenic fall foliage tour from Boston. Bring your camera along for a drive east among gently rolling hills to small towns in Massachusetts and New Hampshire dotted with age-old taverns, colonial churches, farms and prairies, all featuring a beautiful display of autumn’s stunning colors. Pass Willard Brook State Forest and Walden Pond, explore a quaint New England restaurant nestled among picturesque scenery, and stop at a lovely farm stand featuring a farm store and beautiful grounds.  Your guide will navigate fall's changing colors as you tour across Boston, making stops in quiet New England towns along the way for you to capture photos of the brilliant landscape.

You’ll be picked up from your Boston hotel in the morning and taken on a comfortable drive by air-conditioned coach through the New England countryside. Experience the beauty of this amazing region during autumn as you travel amongst gently rolling hills awash with vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, browns and greens. On board, your guide will detail the changing colors of the foliage around you as you tour Boston.
Travel past quiet ponds and lakes, centuries-old farms, vast prairies, weathered roadside taverns and unique colonial churches. Stop for coffee at a local coffee shop in Groton (own expense), pass Willard Brook State Forest, a Massachusetts state park located in Ashby and Townsend about 50 miles (80 km) from Boston. Continue to Ashby Common, a small park and church located in a quiet neighborhood, for more photo opportunities.

Next, visit a quaint restaurant nestled in the heart of the mountains in New Hampshire to stretch your legs, wander around at your leisure, and enjoy a buffet lunch (included). Continue to the small New Hampshire town of Peterborough for another scenic photo stop before finishing your afternoon with a visit to a local farm stand.  Items from the store may be purchased at your own expense.
After your tour, continue enjoying the scenery on your way back to your hotel, arriving around 6pm.

This tour is seasonal and only operates from September through October.

The driver was very informative and knowledgeable. The places he took us to were really beautiful and we were very happy with the tour. The lunch was very average though

Courteous/Informative driver and comfortable transportation with sufficient stops to take pictures and stretch our legs. The only downfall was that mother nature didn't cooperate and the majority of the leaves had not turned color. We went in early Oct and were probably 2-3 weeks too early.

4. I rate it that only because Mother Nature didn't decide to show the full colors that the trees can be. I would highly recommend this tour. The tour guide was great- very informative. Many things I was not aware of in this area. Thank you for a delightful time!_br/_ Charlotte H.

Picked up on time, the lunch was good, and the tour organized.

Review by:   John W,    October 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The colors hadn't changed by mid-October, which isn't the fault of the tour operator, but the time was far too much time. We heard many passenger complaints as the driver continued to make stop after stop on the route back to Boston. By that time we were tured of riding on the bus and just wanted to be done, but the bus kept stopping.

Loved this trip - the driver was awesome - gave good history information, also was quiet at times so we could enjoy the beautiul natture around us. He was a very good driver and made the trip enjoyable. He told us he was retiring Friday! The trip was wonderful!

Years ago I did a tour the took you to a particular place to view the foliage...Walden Woods. This was a little strange in that we stopped on the side of the road multiple times. We did go to a state forest and a memorial park, the guide was also great.

A great time. We were about one week early in seeing the full color. But the driver managed to find beautiful spots for us anyway.

Review by:   Kathy G,    October 2017 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
The trip was not enjoyable due to our tour guide Brian. He complained about the company, he only talked about himself, he was not informative, he talked ALL the time, he was not what a tour guide should be. It was ok that the leaves had not changed, that is just luck of the draw, however his ongoing complaining and talking about himself was really not professional. He was friendly enough at the stops, just so self absorbed, It was uninteresting.

Once out of Boston, we had great weather and beautiful foliage. Our guide, Brian, kept us informed and amused about what we were seeing. We had plenty of opportunity to take pictures at our many stops. Loved the farmer's market.

Driver Mark was informative and entertaining. Unfortunately because of the unseasonably hot weather the colours of the fall were not at their best and it was a struggle to find many red leaves. It was a full day tour although probably could have been achieved in half a day, perhaps because the colours were so limited.

Beautiful scenery even though we were a bit too early for the full color treatment!

Could have been a two star rating but want to be fair. Not as colourful or dramatic as the brochures make out and I know global warming is having an impact but I think you need to be more honest about this tour. Driver was ok but takes too much about the lunch and toilet stops as well as the antics of the other bus and not enough about the history of the places we were passing through or the foliage itself. _br/_ Lunch did not live up to the hype - verty ordinary and could not work out whether it was a brunch or lunch! It was not well organised, ran out of some items, serving staff did not know what they were doing, had to queue for long time, desert was very disappointing and still waiting for hot drink to materialise. _br/_ Not sure why we needed 45 mins at farm stand at the end. Best decision made was not to stop at the coffee stop in morning because of crowds - why go to a place with 40 people plus another full bus where there are limited toilet facilities?

This was a wonderful tour with lots to see. Our drive Mark was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. He appears to love what he does and loves sharing the wonders of the East coast with your guests. I would book another tour any time.

Stunningly beautiful scenery, with a helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and safe bus driver. First stop was at a small café with only two toilets, so almost everyone on the bus spent lots of time queueing to use them, then lots more time in a queue for ice cream/coffee. Service there was very efficient and friendly though. Loved seeing the little towns and hamlets of New England, as well as the amazing fall foliage. Lunch was at an old guest house which was quaint, but the lunch itself was rather poor and the service was even worse I think the staff were young and inexperienced, and our large group was just too much for them to manage without making lots of errors. Later we called at a nursery and sampled their goods, and saw their huge display of pumpkins. Very enjoyable tour despite the minor drawbacks.

The autumn colours were wonderful and the driver certainly took us to some excellent vantage points but he spoilt the day for us and for others as we know from their comments by an incessant stream of inane and objectionable comments about political candidates, women, ethnic minorities, immigrants and other topics. He clearly thought that he was being entertaining. He wasn't. The directions for the pick-up point were also inadequate, as others also evidently felt.

Mark was our driver and guide for this tour. The drive was relaxing and very enjoyable even though fall colors weren't their best due to lack of rain. The lunch was really great, something we didn't plan on.

We took this tour on 19 October and it was really nice lots of color although we may have been a few days too early since the weather has been warmer than usual. All in all we got to see lots of changing foliage. The first rest stop we made was decent, except it was hard for the women on the tour in that there one one person facility for them and they made up about 2/3 of the group. So, many wound up using the men's facility after the men were done so as to be able to stay within the time allowed for the stop. The second stop was at a nice inn out in the country where we had a good lunch and the facilities worked out for everyone as we had plenty of time there. The last stop, it was back to the same as the first and the women had to wait in line a long time again. Maybe the stops could be reworked so where they choose to stop the facilities would be better for the women on board._br/_ Our driver Mike was excellent in pointing out the foliage and took us past some really nice spots on the route he took. We also learned a lot about him, his wife and family, his motorcycles and etc. throughout the trip. _br/_ Mike was very helpful by dropping folks off in various places in Boston so that they did not have to take the metro or cabs to where they wanted to go. All in all everyone had a good time and we enjoyed the trip. It definitely was worth the time and we highly recommend the tour.

It was a good trip and saw a lot of different foliage colours. However I would like to have had more time at the stops in the countryside to have a walk etc. There were other stops that is just about had time for a toilet stop at them. Going to the farm and cafe didn and #39;t serve a purpose. Too long at pub

The lunch is basically mandatory since there aren't any other option._br/_ Just a few photo place and each of them probably just stay for 20 minutes. Don't expect to have your own free time and you are going to share the photo shooting space with another 100 people.

This tour was fine for seeing some of the fall foliage around Massachusetts and New Hampshire. However most of the time is spent on the bus and there are limited opportunities to get out and explore the fall foliage. Most of the best scenery you pass on the bus without stopping.

Enjoyed bus trip and was lucky that foliage was finally turning while we were up there. The driver did a nice job and the guide was very entertaining. We made several nice stops along the way and had a very nice time.

My sister said the tour was more beautiful than she ever thought it would be. Jerry, our guide, was a great tour leader. He was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. We enjoyed lunch with the other folks on the tour. Taking pictures was so much fun. Jerry gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant and dropped us off at the restaurant on the way back. Thanks Jerry for a great experience.

Overall a very positive experience! Would do it again. Trip monitor and driver were very experienced and knowledgeable about areas and some biology of the fall leaves. Pick up from hotel was late and that piece of the transportation left much to be desired.

Frankie was a great driver very knowledgeable, and entertaining. The timing of the trip was just right we saw plenty of beautiful colours._br/_ The last stop at a farm shop - although the food on display was fantastic -the prices were a bit high compared in farm shop in Boston Public market.

Comfortable bus and knowledgable guide. Mid-morning ice cream stop ok. Saw some fall colors, undoubtedly better the next week and/or further north this year. Stopped at some places that had good fall color as well as interesting graveyard and farmhouse. Glad we went.

worst trip we have ever done, don't touch it with a barge pole, driver was useless, stops included a shack, supermarket car park and a cider farmwhich was miles away from the Foliage he then got lost and forgot our hotel drop off and took over two hours to cover one mile to our hotel

Review by:   Ian,    October 2016 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
This tour was disappointing, the bus was not suitable, the tour guide was vey knowledgable but it was pointless that he described an upcoming point of interest if all that could be seen was the back of heads in front, on the off chance the point of interest was on my side outside my window, the window itself was filthy.
