9-Day Broome to Darwin Multi-Day Camping Adventure Including Gibb River Road, Bungle Bungles and Lak

Choose this Broome to Darwin Kimberley multi-day tour operating since 1997 and enjoy camping, hiking and swimming across the Kimberley as you explore the best of the Gibb River Road, Bungle Bungles and Lake Argyle. Departing Broome, take the Gibb River Road for the next 4 days as you travel the full length of the Gibb camping at private wilderness camps, swimming in amazing creeks and rivers, exploring gorges, jumping off waterfalls and seeing secret aboriginal art galleries containing examples of both Wadjina and Bradshaw art. Highlights of the tour include Tunnel Creek, Windjana, Bell, Manning, Emma and Barnet River Gorges, the Pentecost River and El Questro Station. Then head for Purnululu National Park, and finally for what many rate as the highlight of their trip, the Lake Argyle experience which includes a wilderness camp on a private island.

Day 1: Broome to Tunnel Creek
Depart Broome at 6am and head east into the Kimberley and onto the Gibb River Road. Visit Windjana Gorge, Derby and the Boab Prison tree before making this your exclusive bush camp under the stars.

Day 2: Tunnel Creek To Bush Camp
Break camp early and head for Tunnel Creek. Getting there nice and early normally ensures you'll have the place to yourself and are able to explore the 0.4-mile (700-meter) long cave and it's amazing features. From Tunnel Creek head for Bell Gorge, one of the nicest in the Kimberley where you'll do a short hike and have plenty of time for swimming and exploring. From Bell Gorge push onto another bush camp.

Day 3: Bush Camp to Manning Gorge
Today you'll spend most of the day exploring the amazing Manning Gorge. Having the whole day allows you to relax and take some of the less conventional routes which take you to lost gorges and ancient rock art. Camp tonight is on the banks of the Manning River. If time permits you may also see Adcock and Galvan's Gorges.

Day 4: Manning Gorge to Pentecost River
Today, push east toward the Pentecost River and Cockburn Range country. There are a few nice spots to visit today including waterholes and art sites.

Day 5: Pentecost River to Purnululu National Park/Bungle Bungles
From your amazing camp site, drive a short distance to Emma falls at El Questro Station. Here there is great 3km long hike ending at a beautiful waterhole. Next, push onto Purnululu National Park, ideally arriving in time for sunset.

Day 6: Purnululu National Park to Bush Camp
Spend the day at Purnululu exploring all there is on offer including the Picaninny creek area, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm. There is also time for a scenic flight for those interested (payable direct). Your camp tonight is by a waterhole.

Day 7: Bush Camp to Lake Argyle
Today head for Lake Argyle where you'll jump on a boat and camp on an island (boat cruise is payable direct on the day of travel), an activity that is regularly voted as a highlight of the trip. Waking up with the sun on your private island is a great experience.

Day 8: Lake Argyle to Victoria River
From Lake Argyle, cross into the Northern Territory and head for the Victoria River region to another private campsite on the banks of the Victoria River.

Day 9: Victoria River to Darwin
Your last day allows plenty of time to explore Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park where there is a variety of hikes from a couple of kilometers up to 10-km depending on how enthusiastic you're feeling. There will also be plenty of time to spend in the last perfect waterfall of the trip. Arrive into Darwin at approximately 6pm.
