Cadiz Shore Excursion: Seville Day Trip with Skip the Line Real Alcazar and Cathedral

Cadiz, Spain

When your ship docks in the Cadiz port, head out on a shore excursion to Seville, one of the most remarkable cities in Andalusia (Andalucia). On this small-group tour (limited to 15 passengers) you’ll follow your local guide around Seville, a city full of history and beautiful Moorish architecture. Explore famous sites like the Cathedral of Seville, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería (commonly known as La Maestranza), the oldest bullring in Spain; and the Alcazar, a former Moorish fortress. This is a wonderful day trip for history buffs and architecture-lovers!

While you are in port in Cadiz, discover the capital of Andalucia on a shore excursion to Seville. Meet your local guide in front of the Cadiz port and relax on a comfortable minibus during the 60-minute drive to Seville. In Seville, start your small-group walking tour with a visit to the Macarena Walls, and then head to Plaza de España, a jewel of Seville and one of its prettiest plazas. Next, walk down to Maria Luisa Park and admire the mix of 1920s Art Deco and Moorish designs.

Continue to the Baroque palace of San Termo, home to wonderful gardens. Then visit the Cathedral of Seville, the largest Gothic cathedral and third-largest of any church in the world. As you walk around this UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit the tomb of Christopher Columbus, the Capilla Real and the Patio de los Naranjos. Enjoy views of the breathtaking Giralda tower, once the tallest tower in the world and today one of only three remaining Almohad minarets (a mosque spire from the 12th-century Almohad Dynasty).

Take a short break for lunch (own expense) in the Jewish quarter and wander around the labyrinth of narrow streets, originally designed to protect Jews from oppression. Continue to the Santa Cruz quarter, one of Seville's best-known neighborhoods with big mansions, family palaces and flower-covered patios. Then visit the Alcazar, a royal palace that was originally a Moorish fort.

End your walking tour at the oldest bullring in Spain, La Maestranza. Enjoy free time in this area before you make your way back to the Cadiz port.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Cadiz port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. Fabulous Tour with Pablo and Xavier. It was a beautiful day with sunshine abound but Pablo provided with a lot of information on the way to Seville and took wonderful care of us. Then Xavier joined us who had a wealth of knowledge about the Palace and Cathedral. Both of which we didn't have to wait in lines due to their ability to skip the lines. So in a short amount of time we saw a lot of Seville with a lot of wonderful knowledge given to us by Xavier. Wonderful trip!!!

Pablo was a great tour guide, although Javier was knowlegeable he rushed the group and it felt like he did not want to be there. We had a very small group, and we were actually running to keep up with Javier. We loved Cadiz, and Seville.

The very small walking tour of Seville was just perfect. Both guides were wonderful and I will take viator tours next year. A great job by Sandra and Patrick!

Fabulous tour and even better Tour Host ..Oliver.. The local guide was also very knowledgeable and interesting . His English was a bit tricky to follow but only because of his Spanish accent._br/_ I wish all guides were as good as Oliver.

We had a beautiful day in Seville and although it was a long journey 1.5 hours each way our driver and guide made the trip so enjoyable and it seemed to fly by. Our guide took us to what seemed behind the scenes to show us everything Seville had to offer. We had a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant with our driver and truly experienced so much of what Seville had to offer. Made us want to stay longer.

The guides implored excellent English coupled with a working knowledge of every stop on the tour. Their laidback, no rush attitude made the tour very relaxing, also. We will continue to employ and recommend to fellow travelers off ship tours with Viator.

It was very interesting seeing the Alcazar fortress and Cathedral of Seville. The trip was approximately 1.5 hours each way from Cadiz port. We were in a very small group of three and our guide Manuelo in Seville was very knowledgable in the history of both sites. However, we spent about 2.5-3 hours at the fortress and Cathedral, way to much time in our opinion and we did not get to see any of the surrounding streets, etc as we had to meet our bus for the return to Cadiz. Our host guide who travelled from Cadiz with our group was excellent! His name is German Lara, he made us feel welcomed and pointed out places from the moment we boarded the bus until we returned. He made the trip worthwhile.

This tour was exceptional because we had an exceptional guide! We had been to Seville before and had seen the sites he took us to see but his presentation of the history of the places he took us to made the sites come to life for us!

Arry was a wonderful and knowledgable guide. Even though it was raining, she kept her enthusiasm and kept us excited about seeing all of the sights! I was disappointed not to see the Jewish quarter, but there was nothing to be done since the weather wouldn't cooperate. She was excellent though at adapting the day so we could still get the most out of it!

When we received our e-mail confirmations of our tour we were given two locations to meet the guide. Of course we went to the wrong one and almost missed the driver. Thankfully we had saved the e-mails and brought them with us. However, once we found the driver and began the tour it was excellent. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and very knowledgable about the city of Seville. It was a long day but we were glad that we had arranged it. There were only six people on the tour which made it very manageable and a relief from being on previous tours with 30-40 people. We would do it again.

This tour was brilliant! The minibus was waiting for us just a couple of minutes walk away from the port gates, (there were about a dozen other people making their way to Seville for their own tours also), and the guys took us on a brief tour of Cadiz, with plenty of information. Then the comfortable drive of an hour and a half or so to Seville, where our guide, Ariadne, was waiting for us when the minibus arrived. She was absolutely great, extremely knowledgeable and very personable. All in all, superb value - we have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone visiting Seville.

Other than our guide not being there on time, and we were very worried, it turned out to be great. We didn't like the fact that our guide was in Seville, so 1 person met us at the port, then sent us off with a driver, with limited english. Once we met our guide, all concerns were cast away. Dario, I think his name, was fabulous. It was just 3 of us, so it was basically a private tour. We had a great day with him. The driver unfortunately had car problems, and his air conditioning did not work well, so it was a pretty hot drive from Cadiz to Seville and back. I felt very sorry for him, but glad we made it back with no stoppage. Waiting for return trip.....

As already advised to you by direct email, this trip was something of catastrophy. I await your reply to my email.

The city of Seville is very beautiful and we were glad we went there, but this tour did not turn out as it was supposed to. First of all, the second couple never showed up, so we left 30 minutes late. Not too big a problem, it seemed as if we had lots of time to get there and see the city and get back to our ship before heading out. Our driver, Maurizio, was a very special fellow and we enjoyed his company to and from Seville. However, when we got to Seville, we found out that we would be accompanyed by a young man who was doing a favor for the person who was supposed to do the tour and this young man was not even a real tour guide so he informed us he could not really tell us about things inside of the buildings. He was a very nice person and we enjoyed sharing and talking with him, but his appearance was a little disheveled and he had body odor and bad breath. He had been in Spain for five years, so did know quite a bit about Seville, but the tour left us feeling like we had been cheated from really learning and seeing more of Seville. Like I said, he was a very nice person, but my husband and I feel this situation was very unprofessional especially considering the cost of the tour. Please be more careful in the future in making sure the people who represent you don't do this kind of thing again. If given the chance in Cadiz to know what was going to occur, we would have cancelled this tour and just stayed in Cadiz which was a beautiful city. I have tried to be honest and not too critical as we understand these things can happen, but we wanted you to be aware. Thank you, Laura V.

It ended up being a private tour as we were the only two taking the tour that day. The guide, Dario, was friendly and knowledgeable, particularly about the history. His English was great and easily understandable. However, he needs to make sure that he doesn't rush his group from location to location and build in a bio-break at least once during the tour as the ride from Cadiz to Seville is long as is the walking tour.

The tour guide was very very knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. We enjoyed the tour very much and found the minibus very comfortable. We would gladly recommend the tour to anyone. There was one thing that made the trip frustrating and was unnecessary. We were told to meet in the park and there was no one there to meet us originally. After walking the park aimlessly (three couples) for about 30-45 minutes, we received a telephone call from "Oliver" who met us about 10 minutes later on a bicycle and walked us over to the minibus. A minor issue is our guide was confronted in the Cathedral by another guide and told she was going to be reported for giving tours of the Cathedral without being a licensed guide. We would not have known she was not licensed if this had not happened.

This was a fabulous tour--far better than those offered by the cruise ship and less expensive too. Anya was a first-rate guide. She was knowledgeable and fluent and had great skill in storytelling. We appreciated the flexibility of being in a small group (only 6 of us) and so we had control over the pace of our tour and the sights that we saw. For lunch, she directed us to an outdoor tapas cafe where she helped with the menu selections so that we could enjoy a terrific lunch at low cost. I would highly recommend this tour. We were very pleased with Sights and Bikes, the tour provider.
