Cape Town Super Saver: Cape Point Highlights Tour plus Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch

Cape Town, South Africa

With this Cape Town Super Saver you'll get two best-selling tours at one discounted price. Combine Cape Point with a Stellenbosch wine tour. You'll experience the Cape's highlights in one day and mix relaxing sightseeing with a little wine tasting for the perfect day out.

Cape Point (morning)

Start your day by driving along the rugged Atlantic coastline with its towering mountains and white sandy beaches. Soon, you will arrive in Hout Bay, the historical harbour and fishing point, overlooked by the impressive Sentinal peak. From here, you will begin the spectacular coastal drive along the world-famous Chapmans Peak Road (if open). This road hugs the near vertical mountain face between Hout Bay and Noordhoek.

Arriving at the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve, where you will make your way down to Cape Point. This rocky outcrop was known as the Cape of Storms due to the number of vessels that where shipwrecked along the coastline. You will have the opportunity to walk to the old lighthouse at the Point.

Returning from Cape Point you will follow the coastal road along False Bay, through the historic navy base, Simons Town. You will then pass through the popular holiday resort, of Muizenburg before return to the Cape Town City Centre.

On your return to Cape Town you’ll pass the beautiful scenery of Simon's Town, Fish Hoek and the popular holiday resort of Muizenberg.

Please note: the tour may return to Cape Town to collect additional passengers.

Stellenbosch Wine Tour from Cape Town (afternoon)

On a walking tour around the city center, your guide will tell you about some of the history of this ancient city and explain how it came to be synonymous with great South African wine. Admire the abundant Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture as you walk along Stellenbosch’s leafy, tree-lined streets. The city is known locally as Eikestad, meaning ‘city of oaks,’ because of the numerous oak trees that line its secluded streets.

Continue to one of the nearby historic wine estates for a wine-tasting session with your expert guide. The exact winery visited will change depending on availability on the day of your tour, but possible estates include Charmony, KWV Wines, Merelust Estate or Uitkyk Estate. Sample local Pinotage, a red wine grape that prides itself on being South Africa’s signature variety, and learn about the Stellenbosch wine region’s Mediterranean climate and different soils that help create its highly regarded fine wine.

After an hour at the wine estate, hop back on board your luxury coach for the scenic journey back to Cape Town.

This city is amazing. One of my favorites in the whole world. The guide was good and explained in detail the characteristics of the places we visited but also gave us plenty of free time. The wine tasting was exceptional.

This is a brilliant tour and I would highly recommend it. Our guide, Farouk, was very knowledgeable, friendly and showed us all the highlights. He was also a very safe driver! We had a great time visiting Boulders Beach with the penguins, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point and Stellenbosch. We had a delicious lunch stop in Simon's Town and the wine tasting in Stellenbosch was very enjoyable! The tour is a really good way of seeing as much of the surrounding area of Cape Town as possible in a day.

I was picked up as the last person of 8 by a Toyota Van at my hotel in the Waterfront, around 8am in the morning. A much enthusiastic, friendly and inspiring local guide drove us along the west coast west of Table Mountain and southwards with fantastic sea views big waves and nice small villages. First stop south of Hout Bay for a 5-10 min leg stretch, technical break and a photo shoot over the bay. A few local sales persons with local handcrafts where around, but not disturbing. No sales of drinks or snacks, just beautiful nature. The drive then continued southwards and when we took off inlands we could see wild horses running along the Nordhook beach. _br/_ Before entering Cape Point area, we made a stop at an Ostrich Farm. Very well preserved in beautiful surroundings. Those who wanted could feed the ostriches by hand. A good selection of products made from Ostriches were sold in the store I bought large eggs to put nightlights in, and the staff helped me to pack them safely to be brought all the way home to Sweden without breaking. I also bought delicious Ostrich patés. On the continued route we stopped at the side of the road since there were a lot of wild monkeys around, though we were clearly told to keep windows closed... Some nice photo shoots here too. _br/_ The stop at Cape point was quite short 30 min? so I rushed to the tram that took you to the top. Amazing 360 view from up there! Then quickly back again to the van I prioritised getting the view, and skipped the souvenir shopping which otherwise looked nice, ie not too crappy stuff but actually with some quality. I saw wild springbooks too, though too far away to be captured with my simple phone camera. Then continuing to Cape Point and yet again a fantastic view if one - like I do - loves the sea. More wild monkeys aside of the road. At cape point there was a short line 5-10 min to take photos by the sign land point. The guide told us that during high season the line would be approx 1h to get your picture by the sign... _br/_ Returning northbound our next stop was in Simons Town and Boulders Beach with the Penguin Colony. Amazing views of the penguins in an area where there are clear areas for people to walk without disturbing the penguins, yet getting close to see them and to take nice pictures. Even if you could stay around here for a full day, it was a good stop for about 30 min. 5-10 min walk from van to the beach, passing through some nice market with local handcrafts. Again very polite people selling if you approach them, no aggressive sales. The first tour ended back in Cape Town around lunch time. _br/_ I was then the only one who continued for the afternoon tour, so I had a private guide for that. We first stopped at Zevenwacht vineyard where a newcomer showed me the storage and told me some very basics about wine production. I would not consider myself a wine expert, but having visited some vineyards in France, Italy, Germany and Sweden I felt that I almost knew more than this beginner guide. The subsequent wine tasting was quite disappointing too, where I was served a glass of wine with some basic information and then the guide left me for some 5-6 min to enjoy the wine. He then came back and repeated the procedure 3 more times with each time a new wine expecting me to have emptied the glass of wine every time No references/comparisons between the wines. _br/_ When we left we were supposed to visit the city of Stellenbosch to have a guided walking tour. However, as I was the only tour guest and my guide understood I was not too impressed by this visit, he asked if I wanted to re-schedule the afternoon, within some limits. He had to follow the suggested geographical route, or the built in GPS would send a signal back to his office and his manager would call him which also happened. I appreciated the opportunity and skipped the city walk in favour of a visit to Mulderbosch vineyard very beautiful location with professional wine tasting and to Jacobsdaal vineyard. The latter turned out not to have tastings nor sales on site, they were only producing to distributors. However, my guide was very eager that I would see it since I had travelled around the world to visit a favourite brand of mine, so he got the owner to give me a private introduction to Jacobsdaal winery and I also got a few bottles with me home. Almost embarrassing to me, but my guide insisted and I appreciated the kindness from both him and the owner. _br/_ After a funny and rich on experience afternoon I was dropped off at my hotel around 6.30 in the evening. I really enjoyed this day and I got so much value for money. Express tourism, yes, but I could not imagine a better way of spending the one and only day I had off, before leaving Cape Town where I had been for business the whole week. I bring only positive memories and really look forward to come back again for vacation preferably.

The tour was very good and we saw such a lot in a day. The only negative was that we were asked to confirm the tour two days prior, which we did even though we had limited access to wifi and yet we didn't get a response right away and when they did respond it was the day before and then they said they would confirm the time later in the day. They didn't and we were left wondering what time we would be collected. When people are travelling in foreign countries, knowing what is happening in time to plan is very important. As it was we got up early to have breakfast hoping we would receive an email with the time. We received the email the morning of the tour confirming the pick up time. By then we were getting a bit worried.

Being our first time ever to book a Viator tour we were a bit nervous but from the very day we booked up to the end of this great tour we were very well taken care of regarding communication, organisation of tour and making sure we were happy and having a great time!_br/_ Kevin our guide for the day was incredibly friendly and very knowledgable, we visited the main sights of Cape Town within a day and learn so much through this fun and interactive tour._br/_ The tour consisted of everything listed on the description with Cape Point, Boulders Beach, Stellenbosch wine tastings even managed to fit in 2 different wine estates! and visiting the University of Stellenbosch campus area on our way back to Cape Town. All the way through Kevin would stop and let us take pictures of the beautiful scenery as well as some ostriches and baboons.

Excellent tour on everything what matters when you want to see a unknown region and feel save! Prior to start we were contacted with confirmed pick up point/time and guide was right on time. During the entire trip we felt very save and had a clear idea where we go and what we do next. The mini bus was perfectly equipped, also with WiFi for live pictures sharing with home! Our tour guide Bruce Cottle was very friendly, funny and most importantly, had an incredible knowledge of the region and could comment every step of our tour perfectly - highly recommend him if you can! We combined 2 half day tour and it was intense and exactly what we were looking for being the first time in Cape Town. We did all what was promised and more, also with some free time in between for Lunch or strolling in Stellenbosch. After the gorgeous trip to and around Cape Point we went for WineTasting in Stellenbosch Winery Zevenwacht, which was a great choice as well! So I give it a clear 5 of 5 rating and recommend it to all visitors want to cover the most around Cape Town - fantastic!!

This was an excellent tour led by Bruce a very entertaining and knowledgeable tour operator/bus driver.I was picked up on time and lucky to share this day with a real nice group of people. We saw amazing scenery, interesting animals and tasted some lovely wine. The tour is excellent value for money considering the km traveled, the time on tour and things you see. I really enjoyed being at the Cape of Good Hope and visiting Stellenbosch. Highly recommended.

Our guide Darrol was great, we had a group of 8 for the first half and were the only two on the wine tour. Stellenbosch was totally beautiful and well worth the visit. The only thing to be aware of is there is no scheduled stop for lunch so perhaps take a sandwich or get something for lunch at one of the cafes at Cape Point

The Cape point Tour was fabulous. Heading down to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point is a must. The drive down is very scenic. We came back via Simons Town which is where we had a lovely lunch and then went to see the penguins (small extra charge). The lowlight of the tour was the wine tasting. The winery we went to did cheeses as well, which far exceeded their wines. You know you're in trouble when you notice some wines for $2 a bottle. We had a much more enjoyable wine tasting from the hop on, hop off bus tour at Groot Constantine winery. If you can skip the winery tour my star rating would be 4 1/2

This was the most enjoyable day, our guide Leslie was full of knowledge about Cape Town, it's plants, trees, wildlife, people ...... he was so enthusiastic and obviously proud to be from such an amazing place. Cape Point, and the drive down the coast , was beautiful, the views spectacular, we felt as though we were getting a little taste of history being at The Cape of Good Hope. We loved the penguins at Boulder Beach and the wine farms in Stellenbosch were a treat, as was the place itself. The wine tasting was educational, as well as very enjoyable, and we got to see even more wildlife which was an unexpected treat. A brilliant day out that we would recommend to anyone who wants to get a good feel for a beautiful place._br/_ (Also if you are interested in golf or surfing Leslie has extensive experience / knowledge of both and would gladly advise you on the places to visit.)

The drive to Cape Point was pleasant. But unfortunately it was quite a cloudy and windy day (typical for many coastal South African towns and cities.) I'd gone some days before and was lucky enough to get some sun. The sites were spectacular! Stellenbosch was amazing also. Very quaint, beautiful and hip in its own way. The vineyards were cool also...(who can pass up free glasses of wine?)
