360 Chicago Observation Deck (formerly John Hancock Observatory) Admission

Chicago, United States of America

The best views of Chicago can be yours at 360 Chicago (John Hancock Observatory)! Perched 94 stories above the Windy City, the 360 Chicago provides commanding views of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s towering skyscrapers, including Willis (Sears) Tower. Located in the heart of downtown on Michigan Avenue, the observatory is steps away from other top Chicago attractions, and with inclusions like panoramic touch-screens and interactive educational kiosks, it will be the high point (literally) of your Chicago trip!

With mobile tickets, simply scan your phone for direct entry into 360 Chicago.

If you want to extend your tour to day and night and observe Chicago at both times of day, upgrade to the Sun & Stars option, good for two visits.

With your admission to the 360 Chicago (John Hancock Observatory), step off Michigan Avenue and into a high-powered elevator that will take you on an exhilarating ride to the 94th floor at a speed of 20.5 mph (33 kph). The observatory provides unbeatable views of Chicago at all times of the day: Go in the morning or afternoon to admire the expansive blue of Lake Michigan, go at sunset for a romantic moment, or go at night when the city becomes a sea of twinkling lights.

More than just the tip of a tall building, the 360 Chicago (John Hancock Observatory) offers several activities to complement the pretty view. Explore Chicago through the best technologies such as interactive screens that allow you to zoom in and out of famous locations across the city and test your knowledge on digital challenges. The guide is available in seven languages as well a version with commentary designed for kids.

Delight in a unique photo opportunity that will capture you as a 360 Chicago (John Hancock Center) window washer. Souvenir photo packages are also available for purchase.

If you need to catch your breath, head to the observatory’s Architect's Corner, where you can take a break with an Italian coffees, gelato, cocktails, or the delicious café menu.

Upgrade: Additional admission options are available to make the most of your visit.

  • The Sun & Stars option is good for two visits (valid for 48 hours) to the observatory providing opportunity to enjoy Chicago views by both day and night
  • The TILT option offers access to this brand new attraction of outward tilting glass 1,000 feet above the Magnificent Mile. This is the first of its kind in the world and offers unique, downward facing views.

Great tour. Easy to get to the top. The elevator was super fast but not fast enough where you could feel it. Did the Tilt, which is a must if you are going up to the 360 observation room. FYI, we learned that you could go to the bar up in the 360 observation room without buying a ticket.

Was cool but we purchased along with the Tilt and was informed that it wouldn't be open until later that night. Disappointed as we had other things planned out for that day. No offer for refund either from the observation crew.

No one should go to Chicago with out going to the John Hancock Observation Deck! The city is fabulous to look at and this is the spot.

The observation deck gives you a great view of the city and gold coast. Going up later in the afternoon allows both a daytime and dusk view if you have the time. Watching the sun go down and lights come on in a city is always interesting.

It was a clear night so we had great views and the night lights added to the views. If you are a serious photographer though don't expect great photos as the lighting inside the building means you get a lot of shadow. I know it would be hard to change that as folks need to see where they are going. We did the Tilt experience as well. I am glad I did it as I do have a fear of heights, but whilst it is moving look straight ahead. Look down when it is still.

Great views of the Chicago skyline._br/_ Clear day, went early in the morning so crowd numbers were not that high, so had plenty of time to walk around the observation deck.

This was an amazing view of Chicagos skyline. I got the 2-day pass so I went at night and at day time. The views are 360 degrees of the city and lake Michigan. The Chicago skyline is absolutely stunning. Such a beautiful city.

Thoroughly enjoyed 360 Chicago at the Hancock. Another tip: spend the few extra dollars and get the 2 admission, see the city during the day and return at night...spectacular!

Though this observation deck is not as high as the Willis Tower, it does have a 360 degree view. Also, tried the TILT, it was great. You stand in a window with rails to the side and lean out over the side of the building looking straight down at the ground. Fantastic! If in Chicago a must see.

We did this one at night. It was amazing! The Chicago skyline is absolutely stunning. What a beautiful city! I got on the tilt ledge and that was very unnerving, I had to sit down, but it was a lot of fun too. Would recommend! Courtney and Alex

Well worth it. I loved seeing the whole city from that high up. Definitely print your tickets out because they do not acccept phone vouchers. There is a fedex to print at the building but it takes time. Overall loved it.

The queue to get to the elevator to get to the deck takes over an hour and when you get up there you have to queue to get back down as well.

Didn't manage to go on this tour due to bad weather but later we booked dinner two levels down in the restaurant. The view is breathtaking definitely recommend a visit!

The view was great, but a lot of money just to ride an elevator and look out windows.

View is quite nice with lake michigan on one side and chicago on the other. At night the view is not as good because of the reflections in the windows. Tilt is a bit overrated and not worth your money.

View is nice since you have lake michigan on one side and chicago on the other. It's a bit harder at night because of all the reflections in the window. Tilt is overrated and quite boring.

The views from the 360 Chicago are absolutely stunning! I chose this tour rather than The Willis Tower. Had an old family friend fly in to Chicago from Spain and her breath was taken away and was probably one of the best items checked from our excursions! A MUST SEE!!! Will definitely be back.

Review by:   QUOC N,    May 2015 Review: 3 star rating: Worth doing
Great views on a clear day, but not exactly 360 degrees due to the considerable amount of construction a good portion of one side of the observation floor was closed off for construction. In addition, the walk leading up to the elevator area was literally a construction zone - walking between tarps and under scaffolding, with the sound of hammering and drilling all around!

This tour was amazing!

The staff at 360 Chicago were helpful and courteous. The observation was enhanced by the screens that helped us identify landmarks; the creators of this feature are to be commended. Parking was easy; we also appreciated the guest discount for parking. We'll definitely return to 360 Chicago!
