Valltordera Castle Medieval Tournament and Flamenco Show with Optional Dinner
Costa Brava, Spain
Journey through time to the days of Spanish knights when you arrive in the medieval castle of Valltordera near Costa Brava. During this exciting evening that highlights two very different forms of traditional Spanish entertainment, you’ll watch a medieval jousting tournament followed by a dramatic flamenco performance. If you choose, you’ll also feast on a medieval-style roast meat banquet.
Your evening starts with transport from your selected Costa Brava pickup point to the medieval castle of Valltordera, a 30-minute drive away to the west of Lloret de Mar. After receiving a warm welcome from the castle’s count and countess, descendants of Valltordera’s original owners, take your seat to experience life in a medieval Spanish fortress.
From your theater-style vantage point, listen to a trumpet fanfare and watch jousting knights on horseback re-enact the cut and thrust of medieval swordplay as they protect the castle’s count and countess from marauding men on horseback
Enjoy a drink of rosé wine or soft drink while watching the tournament, or upgrade to enjoy a traditional Spanish banquet of vegetable soup, whole roast chicken and potatoes, pork chops, rustic bread and refreshing ice cream.
The Spanish culture continues after the jousting tournament, when live music takes over. A live band plays the Latin beats of the tango and cha-cha, as drinks (own expense) are served from a full wet bar on the terrace. The evening concludes with a performance of traditional Spanish and flamenco dancing in the castle’s regal ballroom, with Spanish guitars accompanying the drama and rhythm of the dance. With up to 10 dancers performing, the show lasts for approximately 45 minutes.
After the show, relax as a comfortable coach returns you to Costa Brava, where you’ll be dropped off at your selected Costa Brava drop-off point.
As an instructor of Mounted Combat, and former flamenco student, I went into this show with really low expectations. We expected it to be cheesy and parts of it, like the Pegasus, played by a very patient long-suffering albino certainly were. However, the riding was more than competent, the knightly games extremely well done, and the stage combat excellent. There were some beautiful Spanish and other Baroque horses ridden with skill in particular the Lippizan? ridden by the 'Barbarian' woman, and the actors did a great job of engaging the audience.

Excellent nights entertainment with the Medieval tournament, horse skills and flamenco display to keep you entertained. The meal provided was also great. Fun night!

The food could be better, the services wasn't optimal. The show was very good.
