Frigiliana and Nerja Day Trip from Costa del Sol
Costa del Sol, Spain
Visit the quaint Spanish villages of Frigiliana and Nerja on this half-day tour from Costa del Sol. Admire the whitewashed houses and medieval Moorish fortress in Frigiliana, offering panoramic Mediterranean views, and amble through the meandering alleyways in nearby Nerja, perched on the coast. Upgrade to include a tour of the fascinating prehistoric Caves of Nerja. Enjoy comfortable coach transport and a balanced mix of guided sightseeing and free time to explore at your own pace.
After pickup from your chosen location in the Costa del Sol region, drive along a beautiful coastal road to Frigiliana, about two hours away. Hop out of the coach to explore this attractive village with your guide. Wander the narrow streets lined with uniformed white houses, and visit the medieval Moorish fortress. After a guided tour, explore more at your leisure. Perhaps shop for souvenirs, check out the famous local pottery or sample some dessert wine. Take a walk along the cliffside promenade, once the site of an imposing Moorish castle. Here, enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean against a mountainous backdrop.
Just a short drive away is Nerja, a seaside town that was once a sleepy fishing village. Old Town is still virtually unchanged, with its winding streets and alleys. Admire whitewashed houses with wrought-iron terraces overflowing with geraniums.
Upgrade to include a visit to the Caves of Nerja. These fascinating prehistoric caverns contain some of the oldest cave paintings in the country. Tour the caves' various halls and galleries, which today are used for ballet and artistic performances.
After your time in Nerja, relax on the drive back to your chosen Costa del Sol location.
It did not worth the time of traveling to get to cave. The cave was nice but that was half an hour. The tour guide was the worst part. He spoke many language but I could not understand and he kept repeating everything as he did not have much knowledge or interesting knowledge so it became a really annoying experience. not recommended.

We enjoyed visiting both cities and the caves. We could have spent more time in each city.

A great day to see areas east of Malaga! The views around Nerja wonderful and caves impressive- like huge caverns.

A fantastic trip. Frigiliana was a beautiful little village to visit and experience a more authentic Spain and the Caves were amazing. Unfortjunately we were not able to see the cave paintings as these were closed to the public but still a great expereince. Only could have been improved by having the audio guides to listen to as we wandered the caves.

Beware if your in Costa Del Sol (Andullucia) you need to travel by taxi at the cost of 45 Euros each way to get picked up by the bus. If you don't mind this additional cost, this is a beautiful tour, filled with quaint villages which are well worth seeing.

The cave was fascinating. More information on the caves would have been good. I would have appreciated a recommendation for lunch. It would have been nice to have a bit more time at the first village shop, also would have been good to get there after the shops had opened, some were still opening as we left..

Are beautiful cities but the road trip in the motor coach is too long and boring just to see the ciities get offfrtom the bus and see the cities from the bus plataform because there are not any guided tour, any information, just to get off and look.

We found nothing of any interest whatsoever in the town of Frigiliana... though situated in the mountains the views weren't impressive, the shops and cafe's very ordinary and we found the artwork on some of the temporary side-show rides extremely distasteful...had we any children with us we wouldn't have quite known how to answer why a popular ride had an image depicting a young man masturbating!!!_br/_
The caves were naturally amazing, however we didn't appreciate the bright flashes from the local souvenir photographers in the cave making it difficult to see in the dark afterward! Us tourists however were sternly warned NOT to take flash photography... go figure._br/_
The town of Nerja was a surprise with it's two fair-looking beaches, however we'd wish we would have been told to bring our swimwear and towel as the rest of the town was just cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops.

The caves were not included, and we had to pay an extra 10 euros for those. There was not a lot of actual guidance it was mostly just transport to and from the towns. Not worth the cost.
