Gibraltar Sightseeing Day Trip from Costa del Sol
USD $55.00

Gibraltar Sightseeing Day Trip from Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, Spain

Cross the border from Spain into British territory, where you can see British policemen, spend British money and enjoy the duty free shopping. Enjoy a tour of the city and Punta Europa, followed by a minibus tour to the top of the famous Rock of Gibraltar itself, where you can take in the views of the Spanish and Moroccan coastlines.

While on the rock you will visit the Saint Michael caves, a dramatic natural grotto sometimes used as a venue for concerts and classical music performances.

There will also be time to meet the locals - the semi wild troop of Barbary "Apes" (they are actually Barbary macaque monkeys). It is said the British will not leave Gibraltar until the apes have left. Hang on to your belongings though, they are cheeky little monkeys!

Descending from the Rock, you have free time for shopping in the main street, where everything is sold from the latest designer fashions to what is probably the best known 100 percent cotton underwear in the world!

Interesting and informative day. Small group coach driver inside Gibraltar was top class and very committed to make our visit successful.

Don't take this tour if you're staying in Torremolinos. The bus trip is way too long. We took the full day trip because we though we would had more time to enjoy Gibraltar. But it's more bus traveling than anything else. We were in Torremolinos and on the 12h duration of the tour, we past 6h30 in the bus, because we are stpping at almost every hotel on the Costal del Sol to grab people. The trip on the top of the Gibraltar Rock was way too short. I would recommand going by yourself if possible, you'll have time to visit more than with this tour.

Great! My husband and I went to the wrong hotel for the pick-up, totally Our falt, and they still found us! We went all the way into town too! Annabell was our guide on the Big bus. She spoke several languages, was informative and personable. Once @ our location we split up based on native languages. Bart, our driver/guide was informative, engaging and amusing. The sights were beautiful, monkeys adorable and history interesting. We didn't see the tunnels but St. Michael's cave was beautiful. lots of shopping and dining options walking the streets in Gibralter.

The bus ride home and the van ride up the rock were horrible. The actual visit was fine, a bit touristy but enjoyable and glad I went. It was a warm day and the van driver kept turning off the AC because it is hard on the engine making all passengers very hot! We were told after we got back to meet our bus that it would be ANOTHER 50 minutes to wait! It was a different bus. No idea what happened to the original bus. In fact we were told that if we were hot we could come back early to an air conditioned bus to be told that the bus wasn't there.

I was initially reluctant to book this tour, as Viator uses a local tour company and it received negative reviews on TripAdvisor. But I was pleasantly surprised. This day excursion was excellent. We were picked up and dropped off at our beach hotel in Torremolinos which was also a pleasant surprise as the local tour website says the pick-up/drop-off point is another hotel in Torremolinos. Our tour guide Pedro was informative and very engaging all day long. He spoke several languages, including English, and always explained things well. The trip was well worthwhile and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the Costa del Sol and looking for an interesting and fun day excursion. Kudos to Viator and the local tour company for making this experience a very pleasant one.

Trip was good, but we also booked the mini bus trip to see the monkeys and Michael's Cave. We never did get to stop and see/photo the monkeys. Don't know why!! Well worth the money if we had seen the monkeys!!

The Coach was on time, clean and tidy. The guide, Pedro, was just brilliant and made the trip even more enjoyable. The tour to the caves and the rock were very well organised and there was still plenty of time to go shopping and have a bite to eat before heading home. I would definitely recommend this site for quality excursions at a fair price.

The only problem we had was a long wait in the sun for a bus to take us up the Rock in Gibraltar. Otherwise we had a very pleasant trip and would use the service again!!!

My husband and I had a wonderful time. The bus driver who took us up the rock was amazing. Not only was he funny and quirky but knowledgeable and an excellent driver. Annabelle was our bus tour guide and helped us find places to eat and things to do during our free time. She was excellent!

It was a nice day. Pedro, the Spanish guide, was the man of the day. He was very enthusiast and gave us many useful information in several languages. We had to wait some time to cross the border to Gibraltar. A smaller one, took us to the rock of Gibraltar where we saw stunning views. St. Michael's Cave is really nice. We saw also Barbary macaque which is the star of the rock. I recommend this tour.

Things started badly when we got to Gibraltar and had to sit on the bus for over an hour. Guide nearly left 19 passengers behind when leaving because of confusing directions. The rest of the trip was okay.

We were certainly satisfied that we made the right choce to take a 'tour' to Gibraltar' despite many reports that it was 'easy' to hop a bus from Marbella and walk across to the 'one street' of Gibraltar. It is bigger and more complicated than that. That said, being picked up on a street in the middle of town, uncertain if we were in the right place, paticularly after a 20 min delay, was not 'easy' either and had we left for two minutes we'd have missed our connection as the bus stopped only long enough to board us. Gibraltar has 'its own cloud', so if we'd planned the day aroud the cable car, we would have been disappointed. Being left in the bus depot parking lot is not a great way to be introduced to Gibraltar and the 'guide' info was minimal on the bus trip. That said, the tour up the 'rock' was fun and definitely not something one would want to arrange after arriving for a day trip._br/_ So Viator again offered a tour worth taking

We had a huge group with a FULL busload. We ended up having to sit in the very back of the bus and there was no air conditioning that I could tell. The actual tour of the Rock was very enjoyable the smaller bus driver was super nice and full of wonderful info about the whole area. There was time before and after the tour to look thru town. Returning to Spain we had to leave the bus, walk through the border crossing and wait about 30-40 minutes in the sun waiting for our bus to come through. Totally unnecessary!! Won't ever do this again.

The tour of the 'Rock' and the tunnels was fantastic - so much history and what an amazing place Gibraltor is. Glad to leave the negotiating of the narrow roads to the well qualified bus drivers (Hedley very fun and informative). Tour a little confusing but Paco remained calm thru out.

Trip itself was okay but pick up was late and we had to pay for an international call to check where the coach was which turned up about half an hour late. Also, the pick timings are not right - we weren't picked up until nearly 9.30am and didn't get into Gibraltar until after 11.00am. We were also not told that on Saturday's most shops closed at 1pm until we were on the bus and so we had very little shopping time. It needs to be explained if taking the Saturday trip you won't be able to do much shopping.

Had a lovely day, good value for money. Journey didn't take as long as we expected. The downside was we had a long wait for the coach to pick us up and the actual tour was too short leaving us sat around with not a lot to do until we were picked up for our journey back.

This tour was to in a hurry and in my opinion the time was enought but the trip was not well planed by the agency. I did the tour of the Rock ... 1:30 min from 12:00 to 13:30, so no time for anything else since the trip begint at 10:00 and endet at 15:00.

If you ever wanted to do Gibraltar, but you've only got one day, this is the tour for you. It seems to pack in everything the Rock has to offer. You get a tour of Gibraltar with stops for the caves the apes and an optional tour of the tunnels. (the tunnels are well worth the additional charge). There's also the opportunity for some duty free shopping. _br/_ I can cross Gib off my bucket list now.

We did this tour on the last day of a 12 day trip, and it was definitely one of the most fun, easy, days. We were staying in the Marbella area, so we were the last on the bus and the first off, which made for a nice trip. The guide provided interesting information along the way. Once we got to Gilbralter it was an easy custom stops (on the bus, show passports), and then we had free time to explore until it was time for our trip up the mountain. Our mini-bus driver was informative, enthusiastic, and funny, and we enjoyed the stops for photos.... incredible to look across the strait and see Africa! The caves were a bit "disco", and lots of steps for some of our group (up and down and back up), but still interesting. We were delighted with seeing the "apes" and were especially charmed by seeing one family with a baby ape. We had just enough time to grab lunch when we returned to town, and then a different route home along the seaside towns was a nice end to the trip.

Passing thru customs and waiting on line to get in takes the pleasure out of this tour. More time is spent traveling, waiting to get in and out then spent in Gibraltar.

A lovely day out. The guide on the coach was multi-lingual and changed so fast from one language to the next it was hard to tune in at the right moments for the English bits. Getting through the border both going and returning can take some time - on the return leg, you have to get off the coach, walk through customs and board the coach again. Whilst on Gibraltar do take the mini bus tour round rock. The mosque on the other side is quite breathtaking and of course you must see the monkeys. They're very cheeky, so keep your bag shut. We visited the caves - breathtaking and something not to be missed. Many people go for the shopping, but I didn't find any unusual or unique shops - they were, in the main, branches of most high street chains. If you get the chance to wander around and take some of the little lanes off the beaten track you find that it's quite worn and tatty - needing a bit of tlc investment - scaffolding everywhere, yet few workmen - for all that though, there's a quaintness and charm about the place which is rather comforting. I wouldn't bother going to Gib for the shopping experience, but definitely make sure you do the sight seeing. My only critisism is the amount of time it takes to complete all the pick-ups. I'd rather pay a bit more money for fewer people and longer on the trip itself.

We had three guides and the one taking us around Gibraltar was very funny. The tour of the tunnels built by the British, St Anthony's caves and the Barbary Apes were fascinating. The town was cute but because we took the tunnel tour we had only a short time. That was fine unless you really needed to shop. The views are amazing and this tour was a highlight of our trip

I would recommend this bus trip to anyone who did not want to drive to Gibraltar. I'm glad I read the reviews before booking that described how much time would be spent picking up and dropping off at the resorts along the Costa del Sol. If you are early on the route plan to be on the bus a long time and without the convenience of a toilet!! What I wish I had been told ahead of time is that because of the complicated road system along the Costa del Sol, some of us would not be dropped off where we were picked up. It's a good thing we could use the prominent lighthouse as our "beacon" because we were dropped at a bus stop three or four blocks away from our resort. We could not see our resort but at least we knew the general directions we should be walking. We were not told about this until we were picked up and it was a casual 'Oh, by the way, on the way back we will be dropping you at the local bus stop". Bus stop, what bus stop??? If we had known about this ahead of time, we could have specifically looked for the route between the bus stop and our hotel.

We were the last group to be picked up in the modern air conditioned coach and as a result, our group of 3 was not able to sit together. Our tour guide Annabelle was professional and knowledgeable. She conducted her commentary in English, Spanish and German. Due to an incident between Spain and Gibraltar, the border crossing was unusually long and we needed to cross the border on foot. Soon we discovered that there were not enough seats in the English speaking minivan for our party of 3. Luckily, we were able to join another local English speaking tour guide from another tour company. The local tour guide, Martin was friendly, knowledgeable, positive and funny. My 11 year old son who sat next to the tour guide/driver appreciated his humor. We made several stops: European point, St. Michael's Cave, and a stop to view the monkeys. We had enough free time to tour the shopping district and eat lunch. We met up with our original tour group and walked across the border and went throught immigration quite easily. I would recommend this tour! It is nice to experience a bit of England so close to the Costa del Sol region of Spain.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Gibraltar. Bus was comfortable and completely full on our day of travel. We departed Torremolinos at 8.45am and were in the bus-park in Gibraltar at 11.15am. It took only two minutes to get across the border!_br/_ We had free time to shop in the main street and were asked to be back at the bus park for 1pm, to continue the tour of 'The Rock'. We decided that this was not sufficient time to explore the main town area, the shops, museums etc, therefore we did not return to the bus park at 1pm. We stayed in the town until the bus departed back to the Costa Del Sol at 3.45pm._br/_ Even then, we could have spent a lot more time locally. We did not get to see everything._br/_ Next time we are on Holiday on Costa Del Sol, we will do this trip again and hopefully see the whole rock. It has even whetted our appetite to visit Gibraltar for a holiday weekend._br/_ Overall, the trip was really good, but if you want to do the whole Rock Tour, your time will be limited in the town itself. Ideally the bus should leave a little earlier and return a little later!

I would NOT recommend your tour to any friends. Took 4 hours each way by bus to get there. About 80miles. Ie 8hours . The guide in Gibralter was then short of time and limited his information. I actually learned as much from other tour directors in the parking lots by listening in on there presentations_br/_

We enjoyed the tour once we got into Gibraltar. Getting to and from was awfully tedious. Only 3 hours was an actual tour. The two other two hours in Gibraltar, which could have been spent taking us somewhere, were lost as we were left on our own in the town square feeling fairly abandoned.
