Seville Day Trip from the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, Spain

Let the Andalusian charm of Seville seduce you on a day trip from Costa del Sol. The lively Seville has a rich Arab legacy and colorful districts like La Macarena, Santa Cruz and Triana. Built on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has lots of remarkable landmarks, including UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cathedral of Seville and Alcazar fort, which you'll explore on this attraction-packed day trip.

Meet your guide in centrally located pick up points in Costa del Sol, then relax in an air-conditioned coach on the drive to Seville, the capital of the Andalusia region. Take in views of the beautiful Andalusian countryside on the way.

When you arrive in Seville, the cultural center of southern Spain, take a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city with your guide. See beautiful landmarks like the Alcazar, Santa Cruz quarter, the Maria Luisa Park, the Avenue of the Palm Trees and the Expo 92 development and parks. As you admire the beauty of these attractions from the comfort of your coach, learn interesting details about Seville and Andalusia from your tour guide.

Continue by foot to the center of Seville with your guide on a walking tour of the Cathedral of St Mary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Then, walk around the exterior of the beautiful Giralda Tower and admire its beautiful colours.

Next, have free time in Seville's city center to have a delicious Spanish lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) and to discover more of this exciting city at your leisure, before you return to Costa del Sol.

Seville was the best city we visited during our 2 weeks stay in Andalusia. Beautiful, the guide was good. Don't make the boat trip!! Totally useless and waste of time

A good one-day tour; however, not much time in Seville. Too much time spent at the 1929 exhibition site when the older things in Seville are much more interesting. More information should have been provided about the possible river trip extension so that more people might be interested. Lunch good.

Perhaps our location in Estepona was not the ideal location for a trip like this, we were first on the bus at 6.50 am, and after many pick ups we set off to Seville at about 8.30 from Malaga, we eventualy arrived at Seville around miday after over 6 hours on the bus, we stayed in Seville untill 4.30 and then repeated the journey back !!!! arriving back at our hotel at 9.30pm. Please if you are thinking of taking a tour check 'travelling' times prior to booking.

Not pleased with the tour guide at the cathedral and walking tour. She wasted so much time, speaking 3 different languages that many folks got bored and tired!!! She also spent quite a bit of time on her phone!_br/_ would not recommend this tour to other folks.

Pick up time fairly prompt, bus journey to Seville pleasant and comfortable except for detour round airport for what ever reason. Need more time in stop off cafe, rushed. Very little time spent in Plaza de espana, disappointing, Jewish quarter, time wasting walking small streets , Cathedral magnificent, plenty of time there._br/_ Lunch hour, encouraged by guide to use a restaurant by the river, dreadful food and service. Boat trip encouraged by guide again, 14 euro each, complete waste of money going down a dirty river with basically nothing to see bar a few bridges. More time needs to be spent visiting the many other sights in Seville some of which are accessible in the day trip. This has been our most disappointing trip from the Costa del sol. Rating 2 out 0f 5

A long time on the bus - must have been 3 hours in either direction. The Santa Cruz District (the old Jewish Quarter) was lovely, with its narrow laneways and little plazas. The Cathedral is very impressive, and you can't miss the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Don't waste your free time by doing the river cruise - all of the buildings of note are set back from the river and are obscured by trees. The Royal Palace is still used by the current King, and would have been a much better use of our free time.

We spent 3 hours to get there most of it was picking up people from hotels. We asked and booked for an english speaking guided tour and ended up with a Spanish, English, German and French guided tour. We thought that once we got to Seville we were going to be put into different groups according to the languages but that wasn't the case. We end up with Maria our tour guide speaking small sentences in all four languages, so it was very frustrating! We arrived at Seville around 11:30 am and left around 4pm. We had about two hours for ourselves for lunch and a walk around, unfortunately we picked the wrong restaurant and because the awful service it took us all 2 hours to have lunch and on top of that the food was mediocre. All in all we have a guided tour for about 2 and half hours and only saw the Plaza Mayor, walked through the Juderia to the Cathedral and walked inside the Cathedral, all this in four languages. It's a shame because I choose this tour after experiencing a really good time on a tour around the South of France.

This trip was terrible, a 10 1/2 hour bus ride for a 5 hour tour of Seville. The tour was very poor, two hours of a church and the rest on your own. Very lacking in information and we were rushed due to picking up of too many people at too many locations. Do not recommend this at all. The worst day of our whole vacation.

Way too long! We stayed in Estepona, so we where the first to be picked up (6.50am). We didn't get to Seville until 12noon. By the time we got there we already had enough and wanted to go back home. We even contemplated hiring a car back! Had 4 1/2 hours at Seville then a 5hour journey back home. As we were the first to get picked up so, we where the last to be dropped off (9.30pm). All I say is, if you are in Estepona, hire a car and do it yourself. Heed my warning! Tour company and guide where great.

The travel time from Marbella to Seville was made really long due to the multiple pick ups done along the way (fairly large bus) The same bus starts at Costa del Sol - multi locations on the way and then goes to Malaga for pickups after which it goes to Seville. At Seville we were met by a local guide to take us around the city. Although the tour was booked for an English option the same tour guide conducted the tour in 4 different languages at the same time - while the language skills were impressive this resulted in the content being very less and rushed. The overall content of the commentary was very poor - no information on the history or the cathedral only very basic information on the architecture which was anyway visible so did not add much. We also did a boat tour for an hour which costed an additional 14 EUR per person which can be avoided as there is nothing much to see that you dont already see from the dock.

Seville is a great city but the waiting around while picking up and dropping off other passengers was a pain. In hindsight, we should have organised our own travel using the trains and we would have had more time to see other things. Not sure if I would do another bus tour like this again. There are people who will prefer to do a tour as it is a bit cheaper and you don't have to think about the travel.

The trip to Seville is a must do if you are in the Costa del Sol. Because May is a shoulder season, we had pick ups at many resort locations. Also, in order to make a full bus, the tour was given in 4 languages. That resulted in steady chatter with only 25% being relevant to us. Despite these things, we loved the day. My only suggestion is that a meeting place and time be established outside of the church in case someone gets separated from the group as I did. It is a good idea to say "stay together" but the reality crowds and the size of the venue can create confusion. In addition to being a little panicked, it held up the rest of the group by 10 minutes or so.

The tour was very good though the many languages made the trip difficult as it took up too much of our free time. The sites visited were impressive and overall the trip served the purpose. The journey back to the Costa Del Sol was awful as in our first coach the air conditioning broke down so we waited for a replacement. The replacement air conditioning didn't work so we had the most uncomfortable journey till the half way mark (over 2 hours) when we again had to wait for another replacement bus, this spoilt what could have been a fabulous day out.

Something went wrong and my friend and I did not get on the Seville trip, but instead we were offered the trip to Granada, which was a trip we really enjoyed. The bus was wonderful, the guide who spoke spanish, french, english and italian was really good and the female guide we had in "the Alhambra" was amazing. Sweet and attentive to everyone on the trip. Everything was so beautiful and I would definitely book another trip with Viator, if I come back to Costa del sol.

Too much time spent picking up other tourists en route to Seville. _br/_ Travel time each way was at least 3.5 hours--way too long._br/_ Maybe there should be a central meeting point when the distance to the travel destination (in this case Marbella to Seville) is so far._br/_ In fact, my travel partner got motion sickness and couldn't travel the following day on her pre-paid Viator Ronda trip._br/_ Also, having the tour guide speak in three languages (French/German/English) gave too little time for a fuller English explanation.

We were picked up at 07:10 but we did not arrive in Seville until nearly 12:00. On the return journey it also took nearly five hours, making nearly ten hours on the journeys. If we had known this we would have hired a car and had much more time in Seville._br/_ The trip was supposed to be English based. What happened in fact was that the guides presented everything in three languages, French, Spanish and English. This became very boring and irritating after a while, and we were not the only ones who felt so, particularly when English became the third language and the least used. The majority of travellers were English speaking so it didn't make sense._br/_ Finally, instructions that were given by the guide who travelled on the coach were often unclear and sometimes misleading. Americans on the trip became very frustrated._br/_ All in all a very disappointing tour, and one not to be repeated.

The bus tour guide would tell us a little about the areas we were passing as we were going to Seville (4 hr ride with stops), but he didn't make anything fun or interesting - just stating facts. Bus was comfortable. When we got to Seville, we were handed off to a local tour guide. We already had about 30-40 people in our group and then we got there, about 25 more people were told to join our group from another group b/c they only understood Italian. We requested an English tour guide. Not only did she (and the guide on the bus) have to speak English, but also French and Italian. They would jump from one language to another and we had to focus very hard on what they were saying because I had to wait for English to start. Sometimes the local tour guide would jump so much that I couldn't tell if she was speaking Italian, French, or English. She would tell a full story in another language and get to English and state one sentence. There was no chance for questions. It was hard to hear her since there were so many people and loud noises everywhere. Other tour groups had a tour guide with a speaker or headphones. Then they recommend a boat tour (you pay 14 euro extra) b/c there is nothing else going on in Seville from 2-5pm. It goes so slowly and they have a recording on that just states what buildings you are passing. Then on our ride home, they just left on the side of the street and told us to cross the bridge and find our hotel. Overall, glad I saw Seville, but I wouldn't recommend this at all.

We have one guide speaking 4 languages and it was too hard for him to say everything 4 times so everybody in the group to understand. At times he skipped some info because he didn't have time to say it in all the languages. I appreciate his work , but the trips should be made for people who speak the same language. Don't think we saw the best parts of Seville.

Seville was interesting, not as grand as I had expected; but the heavy rain storm we had when there didn't help matters ! The local guide around the old quarters was really excellent - shame the Rusadir (coach) guide could not have been as good ! We had another trip with Rusadir - and although the trip itself was enjoyable, the coach guide again was poorly prepared, disorganized and even rude on occasions. If you have to book an excursion in Fuengirola / Torremolinos / Benalmedina etc. choose another company - not Rusadir. They really need to sort themselves out.

The value of the trip depends a lot of the tour guide-Daniel, out tour guide from Malaga to Seville and back was very good, but the local tour guide would need improvement in presenting her town to the English speaking audience. The tour group was very large which did not help.

My second favorite tour after Granada. I did the optional Guadalquivir River tour and it was worth it. Plaza de Espana and the Cathedral in Seville are spectacular. I loved it....I wish this tour would include a panaramic tour of the city.

It was a long day . But the trip was certainly worth the effort. Our guides had to speak in 4 languages. I am ever so impressed with their expertise. The guides were imformative and no one became lost. The crowds were huge so the guides had to compete with many other groups. All in all, we enjoyed our day.
