Snorkel with Stingrays and Feed the Sharks at Curacao Sea Aquarium

Snorkel with Stingrays and Feed the Sharks at Curacao Sea Aquarium

Curacao, Netherlands Antilles

Swim with stingrays and feed sharks during this snorkeling adventure at the Curacao Sea Aquarium in Willemstad. This close encounter will have you swimming in a natural lagoon with stingrays, grouper and tropical fish; meanwhile, sharks and sea turtles cruise around on the other side of a glass wall! Interact with the marine life as you feed them by hand. Choose one of four start times to suit your schedule. This activity is limited to six people, ensuring you enjoy a small-group experience.

When you arrive at Curacao Sea Aquarium just outside central Willemstad, your snorkeling adventure begins with an introduction and safety briefing from a member of the staff. Afterward, put on the provided snorkeling gear — mask, fins and snorkel — and hop in the water.

The aquarium includes natural lagoons that you swim around. Share the water with stingrays, grouper and other fish, which you can feed with the food provided by the staff. You can also feed nurse sharks and sea turtles, which are separated by glass partitions to ensure their safety. To feed them, push the food through small tubes in the glass.

You’ll have nearly an hour in the water to interact with the marine life. After your snorkeling experience, you can stay at the aquarium to enjoy its exhibits and other features. Check out the sea lion show, or feed the flamingos.

We had a fantastic time. We booked the 11:00 time and ended up being the only ones there. The group ahead of us was small and with the cruise ship. We took a cab from the cruise port and there was no problem finding a cab back to port. The guide showed us how to hold the fish for the stingrays, turtles, different types of sharks and other fish that we snorkeled with and fed. The guided stayed with us and provided any assistance we needed. After we finished we were able to stay and continue to snorkel since there wasn't a tour immediately following us. When we were finished, we showered off the salt water and then walked around the aquarium. There was also a dolphin show going on while we were walking around. Nice place and great tour. The do take pictures of you as you interact with the sharks, etc., but there is no pressure to purchase them. We will do it again when we visit Curacao on a future cruise.

Benjamin was my guide for this awesome experience, a very nice and helpful guy. I was the only one that booked for this afternoon. I got to feed a variety of fish including sting rays and sharks. The sharks were fed through an opening in a plexiglass? wall. It made a very distinct whooshing noise from the incredible suction. my wife could hear it from above deck. The giant sting rays were very strong and have a tendency to muscle you around a little bit. they also stole a few fish from me that I was trying to feed to the sharks. I was also surprised by a giant grouper and got to see a sea turtle swimming by. I had more than enough time to swim with all the sea creatures. The photographer was off that day but Benjamin took a lot of great pics with my underwater camera for me.

This was even better than expected. First, the aquarium is pretty standard but it's a good way to kill 30-45 minutes before the tour. The tour itself is great...over an hour spent in a large fenced off area of sea water teeming with fish and stingrays. We fed the large fish and stingrays first before moving to the three fenced sides of the tank where we could feed turtles and two types of sharks through holes in a clear plastic partition. Our guide, Sabrina, was awesome and our photographer, Juan, got some really clear underwater shots of the feeding. Viator beat cruise pricing by 25pp and we had a group of 6 vs. the 30 on the ship tour.

Highly recommend! Our family was on Carnival Sunshine and we booked the 11am snorkel- plenty of time to see the shows and feeding the Sharks was a lifetime moment! Cab fare was 5$ each way pp. The pictures were amazing- Lions Dive Resort had a delicious lunch and more free snorkeling- gorgeous/SAFE!
