Wine Tasting - Cote de Nuits Region with Two Cellar Visits

Dijon, France

Situated in the heart of Burgundy, the Cote d'Or is worthy of its name, the Golden Ridge. The autumn vineyards are rich with a myriad of colors.

Today you will journey through the vineyards of the Cote de Nuits wine district, traveling through the villages of Fixin, Gevrey Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanee and Nuits St Georges on the Route des Grands Crus and along small vineyard roads.

Your wine specialist-guide will explain the different varieties and wine qualities as well as different tasks performed throughout the year to care for the vines, the harvest, and historical aspects of the vines and villages.

The tour stops for two guided cellar visits and comprehensive wine tasting where everything you've learned throughout the day comes together.
Enjoy the delights of Burgundy - one sip at a time!

Our tour guide, Chistopher Viardot, arrived to pick us up the morning of our tourn and informed us his other 4 guests had cancelled last minute so we had him all to ourself! What great luck - Christopher was a wonderful host and shared with us the history of the Dijon wine region and brought us to two cellars. The first was Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion. We met one of the daughters who works at the vineyard her father and then toured through their cellar with a tasting of their amazing wines following that. We must have spent an hour in their company - with it being a morning visit, we were the only guests at that time. We really enjoyed our visit there.

Christopher was an excellent guide... Full of knowledge of the region and wines. I was picked up from my B and B and he was before time so I wasn't waiting which I like. He also gave me the option of being dropped off in the town or back at my B and B. Very helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

Our guide Christopher grew up locally and was really knowledgeable about the wines of the Burgundy region, and was very flexible with great communication. We tasted some very delicious wines with the two cellars that we visited and had a relaxing time. Thanks Christopher!

Fantastic tour guide. He was very knowledgable and personable. He also had the thoughtfulness to bring along extra drinks/ snacks for our kids. The tour itself led us through some beautiful parts of the countryside to some nice wine cellars.

We had a wonderful tour with Christopher. We drink a lot of wine and are very familiar with California's Napa and Sonoma but his explanation of the French methods was still hugely helpful to us and helped us navigate wine lists throughout the rest of the trip. Shipping wine home was a breeze, and coordinating the tour was simple. He and his company were extremely responsive to any questions. Highly recommend it.

Our tour guide was very helpful and knew a lot about the area and wine. The tour ended up being a private tour as no other groups were scheduled for the day. This is a great tour if you are interested in seeing the wine region quickly and if you do not have a lot of time in the area. We stayed in Dijon for one night and did not have a car, so this was a great option to see the wine country and learn a lot about the region.

I would highly recommend a day trip with Christopher to this beautiful region of France._br/_ His knowledge of the area and of the wine was superb. I learned more on this little trip than in all of my days in France._br/_ I would recommend requesting Christopher if you are thinking of booking this trip._br/_ Patricia Acker

This tour was our first as wine novices. We only knew what the basic types of grapes were......until this trip and Christopher, our guide._br/_ Since this was off-season, we were fortunate to have been the only two people on this tour. But there was no less attention to the quality of the explanation and the attention to detail in educating two amateurs. We understood enough about the history, the culture and the classification of the wines and the areas geology and the geography as we watched the vineyard workers burn the winter foliage preparing for the spring.

We thoroughly enjoyed this wine tour.. It was very informative and covered a good range of both wines and topics. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared this well with our group.

We had a day where the guide was just trying to get through the tour. As he was French his mastery of English was fair and therefore difficult to understand. Upon answering questions he would go from English to job bearish very quickly. Beautiful countryside!

This was a great tour. Lou Lou was our guide and he was very friendly, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about french wine. The meeting spot for this is tour is about 100 yards from the train station (coming directly out of the train station and walking straight up the street in front). The drive to the wine area is about 30 minutes. During that time Lou Lou gave us a wealth of information about the wine region, who owns the vineyards, how the bottle labeling works, the good growing areas, the varietals grown. Lou Lou was a great tour guide especially since he had schooling in grape growing and wine making. We made two winery stops including one stop where we made a brief stop in the cellar to see how the bottling process works. The wines that we tasted were pinot noir and chardonney, which are typical for the region. Lou Lou made sure to include a stop that had shipping boxes for those that wanted to take wine home with them. It is also a great tour because they keep the size of the tour small, there were only 5 people on my tour so there was lots of personal attention and time for questions. I would recommend this tour as a great option for exploring this wine region. I have done a number of tours in the California wine region and Lou Lou was much more knowledgeable than any guide I had ever encountered there.

Emily was was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Pickup at the train station was easy and the trip through the wine country was interesting and the scenery was what you would expect from Burgundy. The tour was better than I expected.

Good explanation of the wine-making process was thorough and detailed. The pickup service is nice. It would be better if it could be easier for us to contact the local office when we arrive in Dijon and try to call the local contact number to confirm the trip.
