Malahide Castle, Dublin Bay and Howth Village Half-Day Trip from Dublin
USD $29.00

Malahide Castle, Dublin Bay and Howth Village Half-Day Trip from Dublin

Dublin, Ireland

Got the morning or afternoon free in Dublin? Then explore Dublin Bay just outside the capital on this relaxing 3.5-hour tour. You'll take a wander through the beautiful estate of Malahide Castle and enjoy the fresh sea breeze and breathtaking views of Dublin Bay from Howth Summit.

Your half-day tour starts with departure from central Dublin for the drive to Malahide Castle, where you'll enjoy a guided tour of this refurbished landmark that dates back to the 12th century. With your guide, wander the castle grounds, spanning some 250 acres, and keep your eyes or ears open for ghosts said to haunt the site. You'll see the private gardens of Lord Talbot, which have been opened to the public and are described by garden lovers as a small botanic haven.

Then visit the local craft shops or relax over a coffee and snack, if you wish (own expense), before continuing your tour with a coastal drive through picturesque Malahide to Howth. You have time to stroll around this pretty village before making your way to the summit of Howth for a photo op over Dublin Bay. Less than one hour from the city, you'll enjoy a scenic respite.

Your tour ends with return to your pickup point.

We only had a short time in Dublin, so we wanted to see as much as possible. This side trip helped us to see a bit of the country side as well as visiting a fishing village in Howth .Malahide castle was very interesting.

This tour was absolutely amazing, our tour guide Eoin had the most brilliant sense of humour and made the day an absolute pleasure! Malahide Castle was a total gem and Crabby Joe’s food is a must!

A great tour from start to finish. Malahide Castle tour was very good. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept tour moving at a good pace. Loved the visit to Howth Village. A small seaside fishing port quite close to Dublin. A hidden gem. Fantastic array of seafood stores selling fresh seafood. Purchased a package of smoked Mackerel. Awesome. If we ever go back to Dublin I would make it a point of returning here and staying overnight if possible.

We did this tour as a side trip, to expecting much. We were so wrong. We enjoyed Malahide and the castle but the drive along Dublin Bay and the time in Howt was spectacular. This trip is so worth doing!!

A very nice tour of parts of Dublin, Dublin bay and the coast and of course Malahide Castle. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and lots of fun, pointing out all kinds of interesting things to see. Crabby Joe's in Howth had an absolutely delicious sea food chowder that I am sad I won't have again unless I get to come back to Dublin. A good way to spend an afternoon!

Howth is your first stop before traveling and ending at a little town of Avoca, everything you see hear and smell is just so incredibly beautiful you'll never want to leave!!!

Really enjoyed this trip. It was a quick half day but worth it! Nice getting out of the city but not going too far

This was a great trip, but what made it a five star rating was the driver/host of the tour. He filled every moment with fun facts, antidotes and history and even treated us to delightful Irish flute music on a train stop. Would love to have him on every tour!

The tour is as described. Our guide was very good. Tour of the castle was informative and we had about the right amount of time at the castle. We got to see a bit of the coast line but not much. Didn't have time to eat lunch with the short amount of time spent in village along the coast. Would probably opt for a longer tour with more time along the coast next time.

I would have liked to spend less time at the castle and more at howth. Not enough time there although our guides were fine and enjoyed both stops .

Enjoyed the castle tour but not enough time to enjoy the grounds and garden. Also, the ride around Howth was beautiful however, there was almost no time in Howth Village. Only about 20-25 mins. This was on a beautiful Sunday and the streets were very busy, causing delays. It may be different on a normal day. If you wanted to eat, you had to get something quick and eat on the bus. Almost no sight seeing time. Our tour guide was excellent.

Nice short half-day trip from Dublin. Eoin was a great host, funny and a wealth of knowledge about Irish history. Be sure to check our the walled garden at the castle. We opted to drop off the tour in Howth and have a more leisurely lunch and Eoin gave us good info on how to hop the train back or wait for him to come back around with the afternoon tour. All in all, a great tour for the time and money.

The sights and sounds were terrific and the tour driver made the whole experience even more than could be expected - just a wonderful afternoon. Recommend afternoon as there is no rush to get back!

Very well done tour. Malahide Castle was an amazing place, steeped in Irish history. The trip was done in open double decker bus, so the panoramic views were great. The town of Howth and the drive along Dublin Bay were spectacular. Our driver/ guide, was Dominic. He was fantastic...funny and infirmative. Probably kissed the Blarney Stone a few times. Great time..great value

The Malahide Castle and garden are truly beautiful. However, the tour was not great. Ive been in several tours throughout Ireland but this one was a little disappointing. The stop for Malahide Castle was less than two hours. After the Malahide Castle we went to Howth, where we stopped for around 30 minutes in the industrial part of the port. So, not much to see there. I already went to Howth and I know that there are beautiful landscapes.

Had a great afternoon spent driving through Dublin enroute to Malahide. Our driver-guide, whom I cannot remember her name!, was awesome! Very funny and enjoyable to listen to and interact with. Upon arrival at Malahide Castle, we were greeted by a guide who walked us through the castle, explaining the history and artifacts and pointing out little quirks here and there. We then had enough free time to explore the gardens on the grounds. Quite lovely. We then returned to the bus and were driven to Malahide in Dublin Bay.

Bra halvdagstur.

The castle tour was very nice but you hardly had any time in Howth. They should have allowed time to stop to take pictures by the Bay of Dublin instead of just staying on the bus. And the bus was open on top and freezing!!!! The tour guide was very nice.

Beautiful restored castle, but if you have a choice of trips we would recommend that you choice the Cliffs of Moher Tour including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway City from Dublin._br/_ Very nice bus driver who doubled as a guide.

This was a nice way to spend a half day but we would have preferred a full day so we did not have to rush so much. Malahide Castle was really nice and the gardens were beautiful. The drive along the coast in Hoath was fantastic and we stopped in the picturesque village of Hoath. We were told that we had 20mins for lunch so by the time we picked up lunch we had to go back to the bus and eat it on the return trip to Dublin. We would have gladly paid extra money for a full day trip to enjoy the beautiful village and sit down for a nice lunch. Our tour guide and bus driver Eoin was wonderful. He had such a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. He made all the rushing around seem easier than it was.

The guide and the lady driver were very nice. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour itself is only if you have nothing better to do.

Everything was excellent except one thing - our guide/driver talked all the way. He was enthusiast and tried to inform us about everything and we appreciate it, but sometimes passengers need some silent minutes to observe surroundings. All other was at its best.

The driver was excellent and the tour was ok. I didn't think the castle was all that interesting but the grounds were great. The rest of it was a drive along the coast which was ok, but where we stopped for food was horrible. I had fish and chips and the fish was cooked properly but it was over battered and the batter didn't stick well. The fries were just fries and I expected a little better than just fries. None of this was the fault of the driver or the company both of which were excellent.
