3-Day Speyside Whisky Tour from Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Soak up the spirit of Speyside on a 3-Day small-group whisky tour! Explore Scotland’s principle malt whisky producing region, which is noted for its elegant and subtle-tasting whiskies.

Your small-group 3-day whisky tour will depart from Edinburgh by luxury minivan with a maximum of 15 people and head to the north-east area of Scotland! The region of Speyside follows the path of the River Spey, stretching from the west of the Cairngorm National Park to the east coast. Boasting an impressive scene of winding lochs, green glens and dramatic peaks, the region has something for everyone.

Your base throughout your 3-day whisky tour is the idyllic village of Grantown on Spey, near Aviemore, where your charming B&B accommodation is located. From here, all the Speyside whisky distilleries and sights are within easy reach.

Enjoy visits to four of the region’s famous whisky distilleries, Dalwhinnie, Benromach, Cardhu and Glenlivet, and enjoy tastings and samples galore. Speyside is home to another 42 operating distilleries, so there’s certainly plenty more to see if time permits! You will also visit Gordon and MacPhail’s legendary whisky shop in the Royal Burgh (town) of Elgin where you can shop for some of Speyside’s finest malts.

The return to Edinburgh takes in the classic sights of the Cairngorm Mountains, Balmoral Castle (official Scottish home of the British Royal Family) and the village of Braemar in the Cairngorm National Park.

Excellent tour. Our guide Stevie was the best. We saw beautiful, wild scenery as we drove through the Highlands and the Spey River valley. We had tastings at 4 distilleries and the Whiskey Castle. The stop at the cooperage was amazing. Our bed and breakfast accomodations in Grantown on Spey were very comfortable in a beautiful old stone house. On the tour we stopped at various historic and scenic sights, including Elgin Cathedral and some ancient stone bridges. Great tour.

We had a really good time with Pete as our tour guide he kept the trip exciting. Our Bed and Breakfast place was exceptional Allan and Sylva were really great hosts. The weather was really good for September it only rained part of one day.

The Speyside Whisky tour totally met expectations. Travelers were a mix of Europeans and North Americans and everyone was friendly and cooperative. Barney the tour guide and driver was amazing with his information and love of scotch whisky. He was articulate, irreverent, funny and knowledgeable. Clearly he enjoyed his job! We visited both small and large distilleries and got to taste lots of whiskey. Our B and B accommodation was immaculate and the homemade breakfasts were delicious. Everything went as planned and as promised. The tour is highly recommended.

This was an extremely well run tour with a fabulous, knowledgeable and full of dry humor, Keith the tour guide. It didn't hurt that we had unseasonably fantastic weather for sure but this would have been a great tour in any weather. The Scottish history lessons during the drive between distilleries was also a nice touch along with some scottish tunes mixed in here and there. I can't wait to come back for the Islay tour!!

'Party' Pete was fantastic in giving us additional side tours of scenic views, historic sites and stores that offered tastings. We only had one other couple on board instead of 16 total due to limitations of accommodations in the town we were staying. Much to our advantage. It made for a more cozy tour. The distillery tours were fantastic, along with the tastings. Pete's commentary as we drove and historic facts were fascinating! A wonderful tour, in spite of the Scottish weather of drizzle, rain, coolness and overcast! It didn't damper our enjoyment!!

The whisky tour was incredible. The distilleries we went to and the sights we say in the Highlands were amazing. I was able to take an incredible album of pictures. After 3 or 4 distillery tours we got the picture and didn't need more tours. We just wanted the whisky tastings. We stayed 2 nights in Grantown in a bed and breakfast which was not the best of towns. It was too small, there wasn't any nightlife, and the restaurant options were limited. It would of been nice to stay in Inverness instead.

Fantastic albeit tame 3 day tour of the whisky Speyside area in the Highlands of Scotland. Bruce as tour guide kept things interesting with historical, cultural and personal observations using oratory skills reflective of Scotland's finest. Various short side trips showcasing some Highland treasures not part of the official itinerary made for a pleasant surprise. And the music - Lau! Bruce - try Trembling Bells! Thanks!

Our tour with Peter ("Party Pete") was fabulous. The group were great, the stops on the tour were a nice balance of sightseeing and distillery visits, schedule was excellent with appropriate stops to stretch our legs, and the Mercedes Minivan was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Peter knows his country and can answer many questions and has a very winning personality. The hotel booked for us was a fine 3 star in a nice village with a good bar and restaurant and great service. My wife and I were very pleased with the whole experience and recommend this tour to any couples or singles wanting to see the Highlands and experience the joys of Scotch Whiskey.

Great guide. Lots of additional stops for photo ops and food. Always on schedule but never rushed good choices if distillers . One of the highlights for me was the time we spent at the cooperage. I am really not a drinker and it was great to see coopers and interns working.

Had a fantastic time on the Whisky Tour! Our guide Ali was amazing and made the trip even better. He was super knowledgeable about Scottish history and actually cared about us having the best time ever. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about whiskey and seeing the beautiful highland area.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and had a wonderful time. Alie (sorry if I'm misspelling) was our driver and tour guide and he was terrific--he has a lot of historical knowledge, was funny, and he kept us going! We had a great group of people who started as strangers and ended as friends. This is a great way to experience different whiskey distilleries and to see the beautiful Scottish countryside. We would definitely do another tour in the future.

Our guide was "Mac" - if you can land him do so. An absolute character kilt wearing, full of colourful and humourous anecdotes and a fount of information and a darned credit to Rabbies. A sincere pleasure to have met him, seen him in action and enjoyed his company for 3 spectacular days in the eastern Highlands and Spey region. One of Scotland's finest.

This tour was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it. We had an amazing tour guide, Barney who was very knowledgeable about whisky and also the history of Scotland. It was a great balance between visiting the distilleries and general sightseeing. We stayed at the Kinross Guest House and that was also topnotch. I loved it so much that I hope to take the four day Islay Tour some day.

This trip was fantastic. Our guide/driver, Erik, was absolutely one of the best guides I have experienced in all my years of travel. He was constantly entertaining and informative. Great expertise on the area, the subject and Scotland in general. The tour was well organized and I loved the B and B where I stayed. Also very much enjoyed staying in smaller town. Highly recommend this tour to anyone with interest in single malt whisky and the area in general. Thank you very much for those who designed and ran this program.

Turned out there were just five of us with Eddie. He was great and took good care of us. The B and B we stayed at was FANTASTIC! It was a new B and B and she was marvelous! The only disappointment was the fact that we paid a fee at the different distilleries. I thought that was included in the price -- it added up.

It's a very very relaxing low key trip! It is at a slow pace so I recommend if you'd like to party, stay in the big cities like Edinburgh or Glasgow. If you're looking for some beautiful scenery, good food and great scotch experience, I highly recommend! The local agency was well organized and the transportation was comfortable. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable as well! Budget for some extra money for couple bottle of Scotch!

Excellent tour, MAC, was the best guide/driver with many stories and tales to tell! His knowledge of 'Speyside' just made the tour spin along with distilleries 'thrown' in for good measure...The B and B in Granton was wonderful and the local bars never short of the best range of whiskies....thanks Rabbies....

My wife and I have just experienced a wonderful whisky tour from Edinburgh to the Speyside region._br/_ A tour to remember and to recommend._br/_ The only unexpected experience was the fact that we had to pay for the tasting and sampling. Nowhere_br/_ in your advertisement it was mentioned and it was only as a result of the habit of taking money with that we were_br/_ prepared to pay. _br/_ The fact that we had to pay was announced while we were on our way to the distillery._br/_ The first three out of the four distilleries charged us, in total, to the amount of £55. _br/_ On average about £3 to £4 a dram! Quite expensive we thought.

This tour was a perfect taste of Scotland. Our group was a comfortable size with a very knowledgable guide. It really offered something for anyone who wants to know about whisky making and tasting, or for someone with advanced knowledge. It offers opportunities to experience whisky first hand and enjoy the beauty and history of this region of Scotland.
