Grand Canyon South Rim from Flagstaff with Optional Helicopter Flight

Flagstaff, United States of America

Visit the very attraction that gives Arizona it's nickname and enjoy a breathtaking exploration of the Grand Canyon on this day trip from Flagstaff. You'll stop at several overlooks such as the Grand Canyon Village, Yavapai Point, Lipan Point and the Desert View Watchtower. Learn about the history of the canyon and also spend time at the Cameron Trading Post to take in the Native American artwork.

You cannot visit Arizona and not explore the Grand Canyon, the most stunning of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world.

After pickup from your Flagstaff hotel, your knowledgeable and fun tour guide will drive through the spectacular gorge of Oak Creek Canyon and onto to the Colorado Plateau. Enjoy a sweeping view of the San Francisco Peaks, an ancient volcano that is Arizona´s highest mountain, while heading west toward historic Williams and on to Grand Canyon National Park.

Gaze into the abyss from the meandering overlook at Grand Canyon Village and maybe even glimpse a Condor – the world´s largest bird – before enjoying lunch at Maswik Café. Then, “ride the rim” on a drive that features the most amazing overlooks of the canyon:

  • Yavapai Point with its fascinating geology museum
  • Lipan Point with its sweeping views into the Canyon
  • Desert View with its historic watchtower and Hopi art
If you have selected the helicopter upgrade option, you will take to the skies for a 30-minute flight, providing unparalleled views of the Grand Canyon from the air.

Finally, you'll drive along the Little Colorado Rover with views of its starkly beautiful cliffs. Make a last stop at historic Cameron Trading Post featuring works from Hopi, Zuni and Navajo artists before returning home to a magnificent sunset over the high desert.

What made this tour outstanding was our tour guide Sheldon. He has a lot of knowledge of all areas we covered! We had enough time to explore MORE than just the Grand Canyon South Rim! We stopped at a few places before heading to Cameron. A stop at Cameron Trading Post for souvenir shopping BIG and expansive store, so many things to look and purchase you do get a discount as well. We also had our lunch at the restaurant which is also in the trading post. Phenomenal food! You most definitely HAVE to get the Navajo Taco, or the Stew!! Oh my!! So, if you do book this tour, and you find out when you are picked up that your guide is Sheldon, you're in for a real treat! Best fun ever!!! Great job Sheldon!! Couldn't ask for anything better!!!

Since our trip to the Grand Canyon was to be short, we thought the best, most informative way to see it would be to take a guided day tour. This was the best decision we could have made. Tim, the tour guide, was full of information and stories of landmarks and colorful characters of the area. The day started with an 8:30 a.m. pick-up from our motel and lasted until about 5:00 p.m. We stopped at numerous points of interest and were treated to a fine lunch at a restaurant on the reservation. I would definitely choose this tour again!

This was a great way to see the sites. Having a local guide take you around helped us make sure we made the most of our limited time. Catherine was extremely knowledgeable and was willing to go off the beaten path if we had something specific we wanted to do. The tour was 8 people so it was nice and small. The day wasn't the best for photographs but it was a lot of fun anyway. The only part of the tour I would say could have been skipped was the Navajo reservation, except that is where you ate lunch. I would have enjoyed more time at the canyon itself or seen something more, like the view of Sunset Crater from a higher vantage point. All in all, was a great experience and I would highly recommend you do this, especially if you only have a few days in the area.

Our trip was truly amazing, it was a full day first the helicopter ride then the drive to the Canyon, we had a brilliant lunch and as much bottled water as we wanted, but what made our day was the mini bus driver called Stevie B who was so informative and helpful nothing was too much trouble for him. Many thanks for a day that we live in our memories forever.

This is a terrific way to tour the Grand Canyon. Our guide confirmed our pick up time at Flagstaff the day before. He was prompt to pick us up at the hotel. Eduardo was very knowledgable about the history of the Grand Canyon as well as the entire culture both past and present of the surrounding area. He gave us adequate time to tour at the drop off points and kept the entire group on scheduling by defining the time to return to the van. The tour was well organized and allowed us to enjoy the sights. This is a great way to see the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

Driver/guide Chris was an amazing encyclopedia of knowledge about the area, history, geology, flora and fauna - you name it, he knew about it. He was great. The helicopter ride was good, not great. We were there early for our assigned time but waited over 20 minutes and left late meaning our driver had to wait when he came back to pick us up and the rest of the group who had been left at a different site while we were at the airport then had to wait for us to return - put the rest of our tour behind. The helicopter ride was cut short by 5 minutes, likely due to their late start._br/_ Rest of the Grand Canyon tour was good, visit to the desert view watchtower was very interesting, and lunch at the train station hotel had lots of options.

Loved the fact that this was a small group, there were 10 of us in total! We were a group of 4 together, we got picked up on time at the Drury Inn in Flagstaff. Our guide for the day, J.R., was great, full of stories and information about Arizona and the Grand Canyon! The 4 of us choose the helicopter package, which really was amazing to see the Grand Canyon from above. The only wish we had was that our pilot had engaged with us other than saying hello and introducing himself then asking if we were doing ok a couple of times, he didn't do any other talking, it was just music and a narrative on the headsets. But the view was fantastic!_br/_ After that it was off to the Grand Canyon, J.R. took us to many spots all just a beautiful as the next, and a nice surprise from him, he had a telescope and met us down one of the trails and showed us lots of cool stuff looking through the telescope! The place he took us for lunch had something for everyone and was very well run, and the food was good. _br/_ J.R. did not hesitate to stop on the side of the road when he saw something cool he thought we would like and let us all have a look again with the telescope We saw many different areas throughout the South Rim each one as breathtaking as the next. _br/_ We would and will highly recommend this tour and also J.R., there was never a dull moment with him!

Great trip and a wonderful guide that knew so much of the history. Roza was able to answer any question we had about the area. He kept us entertained! Even though the helicopter trip was cancelled because of weather, he made the IMAX theater an adventure for us.

Our tour-guide was extraordinarily informed about the Grand Canyon and its history. There was a huge input of interesting information. The helicopter flight was awsome. Never seen such pictures and colours before. Visiting the Grand Canyon is one Thing everybody should have done in his life.
