Tuscan Cooking Class and Dinner in Florence

Florence, Italy

Make like a real Tuscan cook on this 4.5-hour evening cooking class in a historical palace (palazzo) in Florence. Working in a modern kitchen in the old building, learn how to create a quintessential Tuscan 4-course dinner of staples such as Hunter’s Chicken (chicken stew), fresh pasta and ‘tiramisu’ (cocoa, espresso and mascarpone pudding). Gain valuable insider tips from an expert local chef, and then enjoy your dishes during a convivial dinner, complete with well-matched Tuscan wine.

Receive personalized attention on a small-group class limited to no more than 12 people.

Meet your guide and the rest of your small group near Piazza Santa Trinita in central Florence. After making your introductions, walk to the nearby cooking school, housed in a medieval Tuscan palazzo across the Arno River.

As you cross the river, stop to admire the views of the magnificent Ponte Vecchio. Then, when you arrive at the school, head inside and find your allocated spot in the modern kitchen.

Next, listen avidly as a friendly, expert chef talks you through the 4-course dinner you’re about to cook.

Your menu will vary according to the day of your class and the availability of ingredients, but typically, you can expect to prepare a classic Tuscan meal of favorites such as potato gnocchi (dumplings), Hunter’s Chicken (chicken stew), and a dessert such as tiramisu. See the Itinerary below for sample menus.

Put on your supplied apron and set to work following the provided recipes. As you prep, get helpful tips from the chef and gain valuable insights into local culinary traditions and techniques that you can use to impress family and friends back home.

With your meal ready, take a seat at the communal table in the charming dining area and savor your finished dishes in the company of your fellow cooks. As you eat, enjoy a glass of wine — your experience includes a complimentary bottle shared between four people.

Discuss your efforts with your companions and learn the strengths and weaknesses of your dishes in the eyes of your chef.

After your convivial meal, receive a recipe booklet to take home with you and then say your goodbyes. Your tour ends when you leave the cooking school.

I don't think I have laughed so much as I did in this class. It was so fun and informative. The food was delicious and I can't wait to try it at home.

Florence - of course. Cooking class in Florence? Why not??? Just a fun time. You get to meet great people, learn how to cook certain recipes in which they give you the menu and recipes at the end to take with you, and enjoy them in the cellar with wine. Just a fun time!

Ill admit I can be a bit of a Negative Nancy. It doesnt deserve as low as 2 stars, but it doesnt deserve 3 either... more of a 2.5.

This cooking class was great. I only have greats things to say about it. Even with our location being changed due to the original spot being over booked. So it was nice they accommodate us at another venue. _br/_ Another nice thing was my wife is pregnant and for desert we were making tiramisu and when the chef found out he made a separate dessert for her since she cant have raw eggs. The chef was great in teaching us he was patience and a little comical and we learned a lot. I just wished we had more time to due another class with him for something else.

The cooking class was good. I thought I was going to get more hands on opportunities though. The class was in English and Italian. The food was delicious and it was nice to meet people from other countries. Would have liked more details in the recipes provided.

I had a great time! Being that it's the slower tourist season right now there were only three of us. We had great interaction with the chef, were all able to participate a lot more than if there had been a larger class and had lots of laughs. Everything was well thought out from the meeting place, to our pickup, the class itself and the meal. I highly recommend this class based on the wonderful experience and the amazing price. Of note, it's located in the older part of Florence just across the river which was great because that's where all of us happened to be staying. There is a lot to do once you leave as well! Great area.

I enjoyed this evening. The chef was a blast, and made the experience fun and more entertaining for everyone. I did want to learn how to make gnocchi but he gave me the recipe instead with some great tips. The dinner was very enjoyable and due to the comeraderie with fellow participants we explored Florence night life for hours afterwards. Top experience.

This is one of the best and most fun cooking classes we've ever attended. Not only were the chefs knowledgeable and fun, our fellow classmates were friendly, energetic and great to spend the evening with. The best part was the sit down, 4 course dinner at the end where we were able to eat the food that we as a group prepared. There was plenty of wine to share, the food was excellent and the company superb--you couldn't ask for a better food experience. If you take no other cooking class in Florence, take this one, you won't regret it.

Our chef - Nicolla or as we called him - Nico, was a shameless flirt and we loved him! We met fun people, made a fabulous meal and enjoyed every minute of it. I love to cook and learned a few things. Try it - you will like it!

This was one of the highlights of our Italian adventure. We had a lot of fun creating an Italian dinner from scratch and enjoyed spending time with others during the process. The teacher of the cooking class was a lot of fun and we learned a great deal of technique towards cooking our first attempt at home. Recommend the experience.

The cooking experience was fun and the food was delicious. Nicolo our chef was very entertaining - can you say mama mia!_br/_ Unfortunately I cannot drink red wine and there was no other option with the meal. I've taken several other cooking classes including ones in Rome, Athens and Crete and this one was the only one that did not offer both red and white wine.

We had heaps of fun preparing and then eating our delightful dinner which we cooked. The class was quite large, however was split into two groups. The chef we had was a lot of fun and kept the evening moving and very light hearted. The food was delicious and was served in the basement of the kitchen where we cooked. An amazing and fun experience._br/_ Highly recommend this tour.

We had a large group but they were able to accomodate us no problem. We met in the square without issues but half the group struck out on their own since we hand an older lady who needed more time to walk. We didn't get the exact location we needed to meet so there was a bit of confusion there but got it sorted in the end.

If you take no other tour or cooking class, you MUST take this one! This is Five Stars all around! You are met at the determined meeting place by an escort who takes you to the kitchen. Once inside a quick overview of the menu is given and then it's time to start cooking. Our chef instructed and guided us all with a sense of humor. He was very friendly, very funny and very patient. The completed meal was absolutely delicious! Topped with a bottle of wine and the company of others who had taken the class, it was a perfect evening. Seriously, don't hesitate to sign up, I would do it again if I could.

This cooking school was great, met some lovely people and the chef made it fun and easy for all to participate. Receipts that seemed complicated to start where made easy under chef's expert guidance. Can't wait to try them at home!

Look no further, this is a phenomenal Italy experience! We're from Chicago and have been making homemade pasta for four years to find out we've been doing it wrong. Great takeaway for us. That is just a part of the experience. It was so fun interacting with other travelers and hearing about their Italy experiences while cooking a four course meal. The class time couldn't be better - 5:15 until 9:00 or so. We had the entire day to sightsee and then the evening to cook!_br/_ We highly recommend this cooking class, and the wine was great, too!

The person who met the group had no sign and walked way too fast for people to follow in order to make it to the kitchen.

I enjoyed this, although it was not quite as described. _br/_ The class was enjoyable and there were 2 chef's to help out. _br/_ However the menu was not what I signed up for? Although, I was only a little disappointed about that, the primary disappointment was that the class had a lot more students than the description said would be the maximum. I specifically shoes this cooking class over the dozens of others because it said that this was a small group class of 12 or less. We had 20 students in our class.

What a fun night! I would highly recommend this class to everyone. The chef had very clear instructions for us and he watched our work so we didn't mess up!! He made the dishes easy and doable, even in the US where the ingredients are available. What a great group of people attended! Fun and food! What's bad about that??!!

Eh.....it was great company with the group and all. They were the best part. The direction was so-so. I really enjoy cooking and was looking forward to learning a little. While I was able to take away a booklet on the cooking.....it was basically a large group dinner.

This was such a fun experience! The food, the atmosphere and the chefs were incredible and they give you more than a bottle of wine for 4 people always a plus! we also got the recipe book which my fiancé and I cooked the pasta meal in less than a week since we got back. I could not recommend this enough! Well worth the experience.

Don't hesitate, book this cooking class if you will be in Tuscany! My husband, sister-in-law, brother and I enjoyed the class immensely, deciding it was the best meal of the trip. We were on a Gate 1 Tuscany tour a real value and wanted to try cooking locally. The February 10, 2017 class was small - two from Brazil, two originally from Japan and two from Arizona and us. There were two chefs and one very hard-working clean up guy. When we arrived, we were assigned Allesssandro, a wonderful, friendly, funny and accomplished chef. After checking for food allergies and washing up, we started cooking! This was not watch the chef rather it was learn the techniques and pick up some valuable tips. Our menu consisted of a potato soufflé with perfectly cooked mushrooms fresh egg pasta with roasted eggplant/tomato sauce rustic Farmers Chicken with roasted red peppers, onions and balsamic vinegar and tiramisu for dessert. There was plenty of camaraderie, laughs, hands-on activity and an absolutely delicious result. I asked Chef to sign the very handy recipe book we received at the end of a wonderful evening. Truly a highlight of a weeklong trip filled with highlights. Thanks, Viator!
