Black Forest and Strasbourg Day Trip from Frankfurt

Frankfurt, Germany

See two countries in one day on your Black Forest and Strasbourg day trip from Frankfurt! Traveling by luxury coach, you'll visit the spa town of Baden-Baden in Germany's Black Forest and the continental city of Strasbourg in Alsace, France.

With an expert guide on hand and dedicated time for independent sightseeing, this day trip is a must-do for anyone wishing to explore parts of both Germany and France while in Europe.

Leave the city of Frankfurt behind, and travel to the southwest corner of Germany by luxury coach. You'll head to the northern edge of Germany's Black Forest (Schwarzwald) to discover the sunny region of deep-green woodland that covers the mountains in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg.

The first stop on your day trip will be in Baden-Baden, a chic Black Forest spa town, for sightseeing with your expert guide. Elegant and sophisticated, Baden-Baden offers a delightful townscape of tree-lined avenues, grand buildings and boutiques alongside its legendary thermal baths. See the famous Kurhaus Casino before traveling through the dark Black Forest woods to visit Lake Mummelsee.

In the afternoon, your trip will continue west to the cosmopolitan city of Strasbourg, on the French side of the France-Germany border. Officially the capital city of the French Alsace region and home to the European Parliament, Strasbourg is a unique European city with notable influences from both Germany and France.

After an introduction to this fascinating city from your guide, you'll have time to spend at leisure for independent sightseeing. See Strasbourg's famous Gothic Cathedral, browse the shops, enjoy a romantic boat ride on the canals or visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site of La Petite France − Strasbourg's historical town center.

Wow! Wow! Wow!_br/_ This tour was seriously amazing!! I want to do it again. Peter, our tour guide was so accommodating and knowledgeable. We had a great time. Strasbourg is so pretty and charming. This was wonderful tour to do if you have short time in Frankfurt.

This was a wonderful day trip. It is a bit of a drive to Strasbourg from Frankfurt but we loved our time there. We had a quick tour and then had close to an hour to wander on our own. Our tour guide provided a great mix between keeping us organized and letting us explore on our own. The black forest was also beautiful and has a lovely restaurant with a patio overlooking the lake. Baden-Baden was less interesting to me but our guide walked us through and gave us lots of information about the place so it was still a worthwhile stop

It wasn't a very good experience for me. I was with my son.The tour guide and driver Boris was ok. He was knowledgeable and informative. Boris gave useful tips on what to do in the Frankfurt area. We had a good walk through the Baden Baden. We stopped for lunch in the picturesque spot on the Black forest. That was nice. But it was less than 2 hours in Strasbourg. Felt very short. Also the trip was in the small white bus. It accomodated 7 people, two of us and and a group of the people from India, who were drinking alcohol and loudly talked in their language. By the end of the trip I had a headache because of them. That was most unpleasant. The tour guide didn't say a word to to them to respect the other people in the tour.

It is a value for money trip to see 3 places in a day. But the journey from one destination to another is too long and this had affected our time spent in the individual places. Also, do not book this tour on a Sunday if you are keen to do a little shopping as the shops are mostly closed. If there is a tour to Strasbourg only, just take that. It is more beautiful compared to Black Forest or Baden Baden. The elderly Guide was very informative and helpful.

This tour was a fun way to see Germany and France during a quick trip. The tour guide was pleasant and not the usual typy that drones on about historical facts you will never remember afterwards. He gave some history and talked about personal insights on living in Germany. Even on a cold rainy day, it was a great time!

Though it was a long day ,it was well worth it and our driver / guide Larry, was wonderful , competent , caring and just enough commentary .Loved Strasbourg but would've liked a bit longer to explore on foot. In the late autumn/ winter you can't see much from the little train especially when its raining. A walking tour maybe would've been better. Baden Baden could be missed to add time in Strasbourg as there wasn't much there of interest and who really wants to see a casino ? _br/_ The Black Forest was beautiful, autumn scenery amazing and the village stop at the top, perfect. Just got to see enough before the fog came. It was a good idea to go to Strasbourg first because it would've been dark if it was last at this time of the year, which would not have worked. Some of our most treasured photos of our trip were from this day. Definitely avoid summer if u don't like crowds. October would be perfect as there would be autumn scenery and less people and chance of rain. Just go !

Strasbourg is a city to visit! With so much history and its colourful architecture. The tour was personalized, as we were only 6 with the guide who could relate to the history of the city. Baden Baden was exceptional with its rich houses and Casion, The Black forest was interesting in terms of its tree composition and the origine of its name.

This is a terrific tour to say the least._br/_ I arrived at the Greenline office near Frankfurt HBF at 9:20 AM and met with the Tour guide Boris._br/_ He was friendly, knowledgeable and knew the route well._br/_ Realised it was a small gang, when I saw just one more family on the bus._br/_ This made the experience even more personal._br/_ Since we all had similar tastes, it was easy to decide on wine tastingThe Reisling at the Black Forest._br/_ Strasbourg is straight out of a picture book and so is the Black Forest!!!_br/_ The weather was awesome on 14 Oct 2017 and this made the trip unforgettable!!_br/_ You are back in Frankfurt by 8:30 PM or 20:30 hrs._br/_ Your eyes will thank you for the trip you took! Book it with no second thoughts!!!!!

The group is of cozy 10 pax size. The driver guide trying his best to beat the rainy weather and bring us the best out of the weather. Visit to the Black Forest is just in one of the small town in it and expected not the trees coverage the pathway which gives its name Black Forest. The visit to Strasbroug is wonderful. Thank you so much to the tireless driver guide.

During this trip, I was in Europe for an entire month and there is no doubt that this day was the absolute best of the entire trip. Our driver and guide was Hans, who was so generous with his knowledge and time, and made plenty of stops for us to take in the beautiful scenery! I was lucky to travel with just three other people, all of whom were also fantastic. This tour is what made me fall in love with both Germany and France!

This was the first tour of our trip and we had a wonderful day, thanks to our guide Thomas. The Black forest was enchanting and we _br/_ appreciated the time in Strasbourg very much. Such an historic and beautiful Cathedral and the city was very much enjoyed.

The scenery on this trip is beautiful, it's well worth doing. The only downside to this trip was I went on a Sunday and not much was open in the towns we visited. The driver/guide also provided lunch which was not noted when I made the booking and I have food allergies, the driver went out of his way to make sure I got lunch at one of the stops, which was paid for by the tour company.

This was a wonderful tour and the tour guide Peter was great. The only thing I would have liked more was time at the Black Forest stop so we could have lunch at the restaurant.

Overall we liked the trip, but we spent too long time in Baden Baden and had to cut the time in Strassbourgh. Larry was a very good driver but, as a guide, he could have told more history and information about places on the road and places visited.

This was a great trip. We left Frankfurt at 9.30 am and returned about 9 pm and so we packed in some wonderful experiences. We had a small white bus as there were only 5 of us on the trip. The guide and driver was great - very friendly and provided a reasonable commentary but not a specialist one. We travelled through Baden Baden very pretty, the Black Forrest and the lake called the Mummerslee. Then on to Strasbourg which was great. Take the little train and not the boat since you see much more of the city. The Cathedral was amazing. It was a busy Sunday afternoon in the main square with lots to see and do. Thoroughly recommended.

The trip is beautiful but rushed. Also our tour guide went on and on about how little money he made and how he needed a big tip at the end.

The tours could have been really great, unfortunately we spent 4 extra hours on the road to get there and only quickly did any sightseeing. Strasbourg is rich with history and is very well preserved. I felt like I was in the Middle Ages. The tour train that goes through the city is a great way to see this historical city. This was included with our tour of the city. The small village we went through in the Black Forest region are almost like out of a storybook. Unfortunately we got there very late in the day so it was getting dark. The tour bus driver pointed out some of the sights early in the tour but became quickly frustrated with the traffic like everyone on the bus. He really didn't talk much about the sights later in the tour. I gave the tour 4-stars because I liked the sights.

Used ETS tours between 14 and 16 May 2017 Rothenburg and Hiedelberg trip driven by Peter. He was kind gentle and impressed with his knowledge of history and lots of trivia about Germany. They provide sandwiches and water enroute. Since we went on a Sunday, we escaped the heavy traffic of trucks. Rothenburg was beautiful during late spring. It was drizzling in Hiedelberg and it was wonderful. The next trip on 16 to Baden Baden, Black Forest and Strasbourg by the duo of Michael and another (not getting their names after a month) we and #39;re the impressive Germans who made us laugh with the dry sense of humor and wit. They threw lots of nice facts about German industries, culture, history and made the tour lively.Office opposite Savoy hotel is not impressive but the coach drivers and guides are very hospitable and warm.

Review by:   EILEEN R P,    May 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The tour started out on a sour note! We were supposed to be on a air conditioned motorcoach bus but we were loaded on a an old white cargo van with windows - not what we expected! This tour was also very rushed because we had a tourist who signed up for the Heidelberg tour but it was cancelled. With that, Greenline Tours decided to cut our trip short so they could drive through Heidelberg on the way back from Strasbourg so the other tourist could see the area. We didn't have time to eat and we had very little time to sightsee and that is the main reason we took the tour. Then, unfortunately, our van broke down on the Autobahn on our way back to Frankfourt! We were supposed to be back in Frankfourt at 7:30 pm but we arrived back about 10:30 pm. The tour company made no offer to get us back home safely instead the just dropped us off. The tour guide was great and did his best. I felt the trip was overpriced and I could not believe we had to travel so far in their old, dirty van! I feel Greenline Tours out of Frankfourt is a very low end tour company and after taking three tours with them I was starting to question our safety in their vehicles. I would not recommend this company.

This was probably our favourite tour. Our tour guide was Peter and he is a great tour guide and very informative. He was telling us all about the area we were travelling through and gave us suggestions for things to do and see. It was early April, we have seen green and spring flowers. Baden-Baden was beautiful, fresh, green, relaxing. Strasbourg, La Petite France was charming. We have visited the cathedral, was amazing. It was fun walking around seeing the architecture, the shops, cafes and people. We have not had a chance for the boat ride. It gave a nice overview and history of the city. We had a lovely photo stop in the German countryside and a chance to sample famour Black Forest cake in Mummelsee charming restaurant. Highly recommended

This was probably our favorite tour. It was a beautiful drive, and our guide, Peter, was fabulous. He talked nonstop, telling us all about the area we were traveling through and gave us suggestions for things to see and do. I just wish we had been there to see the flowers in bloom. Strasbourg and La Petit France were charming and the cathedral was amazing. It was fun walking around seeing the architecture, the shops, cafes and people. The only thing I would have skipped is the boat ride. It gave a nice overview and history of the city, but it was long, hot and got boring. Baden-Baden was beautiful. We had a lovely photo stop in the German countryside and a chance to sample some wine in a charming town. It was a lovely day.

This was a great trip, not only because of where we visited and what we saw, but because we had a wonderful tour guide, Thomas. We were the only people on the tour this day and we had our 18 month old son with us. Thomas was so accommodating to our family and was so knowledgeable about the area, he really helped make the tour a great experience.

An amazing tour to beautiful Strasbourg and the Black Forest is a must! We were also lucky that it snowed! Our guide Peter was also amazing and very accommodating with our needs. We got to have original Black Forest cake too! Even though the snow delayed our drive into Baden-Baden and it was dark, he still took us around and told us interesting stories about the area. I highly recommend this tour and better yet, if you got Peter for a guide.

It was an amazing experience. The only downside is the long hours on the road, but well compensated by the awesome destination and the very well managed tour. Our guide Peter was quite attentive, knowledgeable, and considerate. A huge bonus on this trip was first-day snow at the Black Forest! Strasbourg was beautiful and the sun came out for great photo opportunities.

A wonderful day with many stops for interesting sites--the Baden-Baden Casino, the Strasbourg Cathedral with the Astronomical Clock, Gutenburg Square, and a lovely place for a late afternoon lunch. The architecture of the area is unique. The flowers are beautiful.

Fast drive through Autobahn, reached Badenbaden, avery fairy tale like town , beautiful bridges, buildings , garden baths and a large casino.A winding ride through dense forest we reached Black forest a serene place with a lake surrounded by coniferous forest. Authentic black forest cake and cuckoo Clock are the things to look for here . On the other side of the hills across Rhine river crossed into Strasbourg France .The cathedral and toy train ride through the old town was lovely.Peter our guide was very friendly and good swift driver who brought us back in time for dinner.

Strasbourg is a must do. The trip started on time and ended on time, everything was well organized, the locations are beautiful. Our guide was Willy, he was funny all the while but he did get rude when people didn't follow his instructions. Over all the trip was lovely, I just wish I could get a little more time at the lake at blackforest and a little more time to shop in Strasbourg, but I understand it s tight schedule.

The experience could've been better. One, the weather, which was nobody's fault BUT two, an American couple waited until we were on the way out of the city to mention to the driver that they had to be at the airport an hour before we were due to come back. Instead of asking them to leave the tour, the rest of us had our day shortened to accommodate their needs. This meant no canal cruise in Strasbourg. To top it off, we actually had to leave even earlier in case there was a traffic jam and they missed their plane. They were only waiting for their connection and had no right booking such a long day tour. Peter was a fabulous tour guide, but needs, in future, to cater to the majority not to idiots that potentially ruin everyone else's day. No-one was happy about it. However, disregarding this, and the weather, the tour is to be recommended. They could maybe consider something a little more substantial than a single sandwich for lunch.

As many others have also said, the tour is a little rushed, but a lovely places to visit - so the rush cant be helped! Ours was a very nice tour guide. Just to note, in Baden-Baden, we did not exactly enter the casino - i was not really interested in it, so was happy with that, but maybe can be more clear in the details published.

This is an enjoyable day trip but there is a lot of time spent in the coach. We only had 7 people on the tour and our tour guide was terrific. He changed the order of the day, after consulting with everyone, because it was a Sunday and there would be lots of traffic. So we went to Strasbourg the furthest destination for he day first. It made sense. We had at most 2 hours in Strasbourg. There was a little free time. We didn't do the canal cruise as advertised in the itinerary but did a mini train trip throughout the town, which was probably better than a canal cruise but I'm sure it didn't cost as much. At the Black Forest we had lunch but there was no time to walk around the lake. Baden-Baden was interesting and our guide took us on a walking tour of the town but most places were closed by the time we got there. Some time spent by ourselves would have been nice. Overall a pleasant day.
