Head to the nearby Fox Glacier Helicopter Base to begin your tour. Take a seat in your helicopter and, as the powerful blades begin to whir noisily outside, strap in and brace yourself for the trip of a lifetime!
The Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers are considered by many visitors to offer some of New Zealand’s most spectacular scenery. Pristine ice fields, plunging crevasses and frozen icefalls lead from the glaciers’ towering peaks down to the valley beneath, and the scenery is truly breathtaking.
Take in panoramic views from your vantage point in the sky and listen as your professional pilot delivers informative commentary en route. The glaciers are the result of millions of years of tectonic plate movement, and their majesty and scale can only be truly appreciated from the air.
After a short flight, touch down at the head of either the Franz Josef Glacier or the Fox Glacier and enjoy a little time to admire the landscape up close. Pose for photographs, capture the mountain scenery on camera and take in beautiful views out over the icy terrain to the lower valley beyond.
When your 30-minute tour is over, hop back in your helicopter for the short flight back to the Fox Glacier Helicopter Base.
The helicopter flight was excellent - well worth doing. The Helicopter Line crew were professional, and the flight wet too quickly. It was great landing on the Glacier- we had a beautiful sunny day. Plan your trip for the morning as the weather appears to turn for the worst after midday.

As the Helicopter takes you up over the glaciers you get an absolutely breath-taking view of the stunning ice walls and crevices of this majestic work of Mother Nature. Then you land on the top of Fox Glacier to take in the serenity of the snow and ice where the Glacier starts. We had a stunning day when we did this tour, so got to see it at it's very best. Absolutely amazing!!!_br/_ However weather conditions can change very rapidly over the Alps so be prepared for your Tour to be cancelled and rescheduled._br/_ It is not safe to fly in cloudly or windy conditions, so it is simply something that is out of the control of the Helitour company and they have your best interest in mind, so just bear that in mind if you have to reschedule._br/_ It is reasonably expensive to do this activity, but believe me it is worth every cent once you have done it!!!_br/_ Breathtakingly, amazingly beautiful. Mother Nature at her very best without a doubt.

This flight was brilliant. Companies involved did everything they could to accommodate our family and the pilot Chris could not be faulted and was outstanding with our young daughter. The weather wasn and #39;t going our way but the flight was delayed and we managed the full tour with landing 2hours later.

Unfortunately we could not go on the trip due to bad weathe Iin Franz Josef. We were gutted but could use our voucher when round the otherside of Mt Cook. Tried in Fox Glacier first on our route and there was a chance as they were only doing 10 min flights because of weather. As we waited for a flight to come in the weather started to change and unfortunately they abanndonned flying for rest of day. The others thag managed do the 10min flight before us were really lucky as the pilot was able to land aswell. They said it was so worth it even if it was only 10 mins. Definately book it and its a bonus if yiu get to go up. If not viator do give a full refund.

Due to the high snow the day before, we were fortunate to see a high volume of snow on the glacier. The tour was short only 30 min, but it was a fantastic activity where we stopped on the glacier itself and got to experience the majestic scenery. Definitely worth a try if you are to visit New Zealand's glacier.

This was our first helicopter flight. It was absolutly amazing. We saw it all, Mt Tasman, Mt Cook, Franz Josef Glaicer and we actually walked on Fox Glacier. I would recommend it to anyone.

This tour was amazing and they also changed our booking to the other town that we been on the other side of the glacierwas a GPS bad location from Here Services and we ended up on the other side 50km, now I always double check with Google maps. I would also go with glacier hiking but for fast pace you can use only this helicopter tour.

A stunningly beautiful day up on the glaciers. Our pilot Tyson did a wonderful job of taking us up there and back, and telling us about what we were seeing. We were impressed that he didn't rush us while we were out on the glacier, and offered to take our pix. And he printed off his own pix for us to purchase at a reasonable price. Awesome trip!

Disappointing trip. Pilot seemed bored. Saw very little on way up to glaciers because of seating. Hoped that we would change seats on way down but were instructed to stay in same seats on way down so saw nothing again. Could have paid less and seen more with other.

Absolutely stunning views as long as you're lucky with the weather. We'd organised to go to both glaciers but because of high winds had to settle for 1. First chopper up so we had it all to ourselves for a while. Also did the walks to the base first. Fantastic!!

Fantastic views and informative piolit but we were squashed in like sardines and found it very uncomfortable. We are photographers and barely had space to raise my arms to take photos in the helicopter. I understand the company has to make the most of the fine weather but the amount we paid I would expect a more comfortable experience.

I will give this company top marks for being understanding and tourist friendly. We had to change our booking due to a road closure caused by a slight landslide driving from Wanaka. They were more than happy to change our time. When we arrived there was cloud cover and our booked time was cancelled and rescheduled two hours later. The flight was excellent and we landed on Fox Glacier for photos etc. There was fresh snow which was very soft and almost every step we went down to our knees in the snow. The pilot was very helpful in assisting me around. We then recorded and flew over the ravines and onto Franz Josef Glacier which was just as spectacular and the whole trip was very memorable.

We went to the Helicopter Office was escorted across the road to the landing pad flew over the glacier and landed stood around for a few minutes the view of the ice was nice and then flew a short flight back, we sat in the back of the helicopter and was disapointed in the view, I like to take photos but they werent much through the windows, overall a bit boring and personally I wish I would of spent the money eleswhere, but you don't know untill you go, it wasn't awful.

Awesome. I rate it as one of the top ten experiences in my life. Well wort the money in hindsight it is actually very reasonable. As Franz Joseph glacier is disappearing very rapidly the view from the ground would have been a bit disappointing if I hadn' first seen it from the air. A must do!!!

It was awesome. We had a beautiful sunny day and the pilot was brill. We were just sad we didn't have enough time to do the heli-hike, if u have the time that would be even better.
