Vida Aventura Park in Guanacaste: Zipline Tour, Horseback Ride and Hot Springs

Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Enjoy a perfect mix of adrenaline-pumping adventure combined with relaxation on this full-day tour at Vida Aventura Nature Park in the beautiful Guanacaste mountains. Soar across seven canopy ziplines through a forested canyon before horseback riding over hillside trails. You’ll catch views of two active volcanoes, Miravalles and Rincon de la Vieja, followed by a mineral mud bath and a dip into a thermal pool to wash it all away!

Prepare for an active morning in the cool climate of a Costa Rican mountain rainforest. When you arrive at Vida Aventura Park, your experienced guide will provide training on how to ride the zipline. Then, secure your harness and take off through the canyon, gliding easily around the treetops along seven cables.

Once you’ve landed and caught your breath, mount a horse for a trail-riding experience along a tropical forest drive, learning about the diverse flora and fauna as you cross streams and grass pastures. Keep an eye out for two active volcanoes, Rincon de la Vieja and Miravalles, and admire the spectacular panoramic views along the way.

When you’ve completed the horseback ride, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch, choosing from a variety of dishes such as chicken and rice. Then, head to the soothing part of your tour – a thermal mud bath and hot springs spa in gorgeous natural surroundings.

Wearing a bathing suit, lather the soft volcanic mud on your skin and face, making a natural mineral mask, and lay out comfortably until it dries in the sun. Finally, dip into a geothermal pool, washing away the clay and soothing any sore muscles as you relax more deeply into the thermal pools.

Amazing tour! Zipline was so fun and our group of 14 were the only ones at the park! The horseback riding was great and definitely worth the trip! Perfect length and not too difficult but still cool The hot springs were more like a warm pool but still great and you get to do a natural volcanic mud.

Everything was very good. The ziplines were fun and all was beautiful, the mud bath was wonderful and the hot springs was nice and relaxing. Our tour guides or people that helped with everything was very nice and helpful. Our lunch was very good also. The only thing I did not enjoy or that scared me is the horse riding. I felt like I was going to fall off the horse and my horse kicked two other horses. It was maining a slow walk but every so often the would start galloping and I would start sliding off. I felt nobody could help me keep on the horse. But I survived and was able to stay on the horse.

This tour was the highlight of my trip to Costa Rica!!!!!! We started out by being picked up from our hotel. Which I would HIGHLY recommend, just make sure you have breakfast before you go. The ride was about an hour or so from Guanacaste. The guide who picked us up was very kind and told us part of the road was going to be very bumpy which It was for about 25 minutes. Once at the Park, we began suiting up for Zip lining. I am terrified of heights, but the guide assured us we would be fine. After the 1st line, I was hyped. There are 7 lines in total and one you can do upside down if you want to. Suzie was the real MVP. She is the dog who is also on the trail and she finds her way around the trail before we get to the other side. Zip lining was amazing, definitely an adrenaline rush!

Hard to get to as you travel on a rocky road for 45-60 minutes but well worth it. You traverse 7 ziplines which will take a few hours, go on a horseback ride with incredible views and the mud bath and water spring was also an experience. We travelled there ourselves by car which is a little daunting since there are very little signs and google maps doesn't help but because we arrived their ourselves, we had more of a private horseback and mudbath/spring tour since the boatload of people in the shuttlebus had to stay together.

My friends and I had a great time on this tour. The zip-lining was perfect because we were provided cover from the sun by the trees. I was nice to be so high up and see the rain forest below us. The horse back riding was exciting, I had a horse by the name of Tequila, and he was calm the entire time, and made me feel very comfortable. It's crazy to see how strong and intelligent the horses are. We then had a traditional Costa Rican lunch, which was absolutely delicious!! Next up was the hot springs. They were a little smelly, however, after rinsing the mud off, my skin felt extremely soft, so the exfoliating properties of the mud are worth smelling like sulfur for a little bit. The tour guide Giovanni was very knowledgeable of Costa Rican history, and he was nice to hear his stories while riding out to the park. Travel van was comfortable with air conditioning and very clean. I would recommend this tour to any Costa Rican travelers. It was nice to knock out and experience multiple activities in one day.

Tour date : February 13th, 2017._br/_ The tour started off with the Hot Springs, only because there were other group doing the zipline and horseback riding. The hot springs was more like a warm pool. The point was to rub mud all over your body, let it sink into your skin and dry, and then rinse off because going into the hot water. It was a bit chilly waiting for the mud to dry, so this was probably the least favourite part of the day._br/_ After that, we went horseback riding. This was absolutely amazing. The views were breathtaking and we had a blast. _br/_ The lunch was delicious too. Perfect amount of food._br/_ We finished off with ziplining which was awesome. It was my first time ever doing it and it was so much fun!_br/_ This tour was about 10 hours long, with an hour and a half commute from and to the hotel. This was the only excursion we did during our 7 days there and we wouldn't have had it any other way. I would definitely recommend this tour!

The day we went it rained all day! The zip lines were amazing! 7 in total! The horse back riding was very wet and muddy, and very steep hills, but exciting just the same! Lunch was excellent!! Take a rain jacket, and closed shoes!

This was a very good tour. All of the activities were very enjoyable and entertaining. The Horseback ride was actually quite and experience as I was expecting a very tame trail ride, but this was a little more exciting than I imagined it would be. It was not near the beach, but they made up for it with a pretty exciting ride!

Staff and family at Vida Aventura were so welcoming and accommodating! Loved our experience there! Zip lines are great for beginners ground to ground zip lines rather than tree top to tree top. Still so fun and awesome! Suzie the ranch dog followed us from zip to zip one of the highlights of our day! Horseback riding is amazing and so beautiful. Must do! Really great views along the way. Lunch was delicious and well-earned after the horseback riding and zip-lining! Hot spring and volcanic mud bath was more of a jacuzzi and bowl of sulphuric mud. Not my favorite. Spa felt nice after a long day, but not what I pictured. I imagined a natural in ground hole vs a jacuzzi. Mud smells terrible. The mudbath is a typical Costa Rica tourist thing to do, so I encourage you to try it, but all the clothes in my suitcase still smell like sulphur and the swimsuit I used that day will probably smell like it forever. Oh well! Such a quaint place to visit and you get to do a lot in one stop! Well worth it, especially if you have a short visit to Costa Rica.

The zip line and horse back where very good and that staff was great. The food was delicious. That and #39;s the positive, the negative is the mud bath and thermal spring where not good at all. Mud bath is just a bird bath full of horrible smelling mud. We still put the mud on. At thermal spring is hot tub

The day was a lot of fun, and again, Alejandro was a wealth of information, but the mud bath/hotspring portion of this tour was not great. Nice horseback ride, zipline was fun and exciting, but I'd hoped for an educational zipline tour through jungle canopy, rather than a thrill ride.

We had a great time. They have some awesome zip lines. I would highly recommend this tour. Our guide was really nice and gave some nice commentating throughout the ride as well. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food was as well. Bring your bug spray for the nice hike through the hills as well. Pura Vida!

Wonderful time - relaxing pools, great ziplines. The horse ride was beautiful, but it seemed my horse was agitated the whole ride it bucked a few times at other horses, didn't like anything close behind it. Take notice if your horses ears are tucked back - it usually means they aren't happy.

This tour was everything it is advertised as. It is so much fun! First they took us horseback riding and the trail must've been about 3 miles. We went through valleys, mountains, even a little river on the horses. Then we went zip lining, 7 lines, and one you even had the option to do upside down if you wanted. The last 2 lines you had to hike a bit to reach them but once you got to the top they had water for you because it was SOO hot that day. After zip lining was over, we went to eat lunch, a typical Costa Rican meal, then finally, we went to the hot springs and mud baths. So much fun, worth the money. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Kind of disappointed! Zip line was fun and well run, but horses-not very interesting, the hot springs turned out to be a small hot pool and Jacuzzi, and the volcanic mud was a big bowl of mud that you applied yourself. a long drive for a tepid experience. Lunch ok-minimal._br/_ Would rather have gone to a real hot springs pool-recommend a different tour if that is what you are looking for. Maybe a little longer in the travel time would be worth it.

Review by:   Tara L,    May 2016 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We felt really mislead about the quality of the activities. The horseback riding was great but the forest was super dry in this area and the ziplining was not worth it at all! The mud bath was literally a bowl of mud. I and #39;d recommend LaFortuna ziplining 100%

This tour was absolutely amazing! It was well worth the money, which was not expensive at all. Our first time Ziplining and WE LOVED IT! The scenery was gorgeous. Horseback riding and the mineral springs was awesome as well. The lunch provided was delicious! Make sure to take extra clothing.

As some people have said, the place is hard to find so make sure you leave early and drive a 4x4. First we did horse riding, which was fun I am an experienced rider but extremely reckless. Even the first timers galloped. Any person who knows the first thing about horse riding knows how insane this is. Helmets weren't even offered. The ziplining was fun. As far as views of the 2 volcanoes - that never happened. Unless they were somewhere far and no one bothered to tell us we were able to see them. The mud bath was a small pot of mud and a little pool next it in the back yard of the office. The lunch was nice note that it says we will get fruit, but we actually got chicken with rice and beans. The tour guides were very nice and friendly. Not sure it was worth the money.

Ruff and bumpy road to get there. The zipline was good, horseback ride was on a rocky trail._br/_ The hot springs was a disappointment was in the back of house not on a nature trail that it showed.

Vida Aventura is extremely difficult to find! It took us over 3.5 hours to get here from La Fortuna, but when we got here it was such a beautiful place that we instantly forgot about how frustrating it was to get here. I highly recommend you getting picked up from your hotel!

The local tour company did a great job. However, please note there is an option to drive yourself to the park location. Don't do this. Everything the tour offers is well worth it, but have the local operator pick you up. You have to know the area to navigate in Costa Rica. Secondly the tour is in a rural location and the roads are very poor. You have to have the proper vehicle to get back into the rural location. The local tour operator equipment is well maintained. They are very friendly and the location is beautiful.

The ladies and I really enjoyed the trip especially the ziplining. I enjoyed the free facial and mud bath. My skin felt brand new after I washed it off. I would recommend this tour. Our tour guide Brian was excellent and very accommodating. He gave us a personal background and history background of Costa Rica. The ladies were very accommodating with providing the ladies and I with cardigans and jackets during the horseback riding tour since the weather was chilly. The meal was fantastic and very filling. Thank you again.

I had a fabulous tour guide...name escapes me but went with my daughter on Monday, August 11th. He was fun, patient, and kind! We were picked up at the Riu Guanacaste and taken to another hotel before we met him. I never went ziplining before and neither had my daughter and he took away all fears._br/_ It was a beautiful day and we also enjoyed the horseback riding, mud bath and hot springs. The lunch was delicious! I highly recommend this tour!

Organized well with a small group of 10 in a small bus for a shorter ride compare to the large groups of 50 for a longer distance ride of 3 hours made this tour more enjoyable and seemingly private. That made the Zipline wait much shorter

Zip lining was my first experience and I will look forward to more opportunities in the future. The horseback riding took us through a variety of terrain including woods, hills with countryside views. The horses were well trained and gentle. Mixed review on hot springs experience yet I encourage it once! Our tour guide for the day, Rain, was fun and knowledgeable.

The zip lining was great but the horseback riding was disappointing. It was much too short and felt more like filler. Mauricio, the tour guide was excellent.

It certainly did not meet the expectations we had, based upon your website or theirs. One driver picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at another area where another driver and "guide" took us to the Park. This "guide" was not the most forthcoming with information about flora and fauna but did answer questions when asked. We did not read anywhere about the long, winding, rocky, bumpy road that took us to the "adventure." I believe the guide told us we were driving through a dump, and we did see people working in that dump when we returned. All in all, that drive was about 1 hour from the main road and was very uncomfortable for someone who experiences motion sickness (as I do). Since I am afraid of heights, I did not experience the zipline; but most people seemed to enjoy it, although many did mention some difficulty in getting to the platforms. The real guides were the workers at the park; two young men led the zipline and horseback experiences, and they were wonderful. One lady did the cooking; and, since I sat in the food area awaiting the others from the zipline, she offered and made coffee for me--which I thought was very nice. The driver and "guide" who brought us to the park seemed to ignore me completely until it was time to join the horseback ride. As dry as the area seemed to be when we drove to the park, it surprised me to see so much wet and sloppy trails for the horses to ride through; and that was a bit scary sine the horses seemed to be slipping a bit. The guides stopped several places to take pictures, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves....although, it was a bit scary for me as a novice. Although the food was delicious, it certainly did not look like the pictures shown on the website; fried plaintains were the only fruit included in the meal. There was no mango as mentioned, and this was disappointing. The "mud bath" was a bowl of cold mud with paint brushes to apply to our bodies; since it was cold, I just used my hands.
