Kona Submarine Adventure and Royal Kona Resort Luau

Hawaii, United States of America

Discover two of Kona's most popular attractions at one great price! Explore Hawaii's ocean world aboard a Big Island submarine, then experience Hawaiian culture at the popular Royal Kona Resort Luau. Great food, dazzling dance and music performances, and the spirit of aloha at its very best!

Likely to Sell-out! The Royal Kona Resort Luau regularly sells out weeks in advance, so book ahead to avoid disappointment!

Your submarine tour Kona adventure takes you on an unforgettable 50-minute journey aboard an Atlantis 48-passenger submarine, as featured in National Geographic television specials. You'll explore a huge natural coral reef and its marine inhabitants! A new adventure awaits you at depths up to 100 feet (30 meters). Enjoy the view in air-conditioned comfort and safety aboard a Big Island submarine.

As the majestic island sun begins to set, you'll join in the fun at the Royal Kona Resort for a spectacular evening at the Voyagers of the Pacific Luau and Revue. This exciting traditional Polynesian luau is held in the resort's oceanfront coconut grove and includes a traditional shell lei greeting, torch lighting and Imu Ceremony. There's an open bar while you enjoy Kailua-Kona's premier all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet.

Following the island-style feast, be entertained by the cast of musicians and dancers as they take you on a fast-paced journey through the South Pacific Islands. Their show includes songs and dances rarely seen in typical luau shows and is highlighted by the Samoan Fire Knife dance. The performance alone will keep you talking for months!

The people that introduced us to the boat and sub were amazing. Very friendly and fun. We enjoyed a no ear penalty to be down at 100' and enjoyed the visual experience.

What a wonderful experience! The staff were very courteous and helpful. Our tour guide, Jason, was very knowledgeable and delightfully funny. Having the opportunity to view the beautiful and varied marine life was fascinating and beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour.

The submarine is a great way to see the fish and not get wet. The beach near the pier is also good for swimming. Kona is very laid back without all the high rise buildings. One long street full of souvenir shops and eating places. We stayed at Kona Resort and enjoyed the Luau. We got to meet the entertainers after the show and had our photos taken with them. The food, entertainment, open bar was exceptional. I am a vegetarian and there was food for me to eat too. I highly recommend this tour and the Kona Resort is also a great place to stay. There is a lot to see and do on the Big Island.

What an exciting day! Greeted by amazing people, they took our picture before we got on the boat to get to the Submarine. While in the Sub we saw 2 shipwrecks with great stories of how they became at the bottom of the sea. Saw a lot of fish and a shark! 1 of population has been in a Subarine, so advise to try this if you can. The only part I thought was weird is they take your pic at the beginning and then at the end you are charged for it. Well we paid like 350.00 for a 45 minute ride, and I think the pictures should be included in the price of the ride! The Luau was fun and exciting , good food, but again they took pictures at the beginning and we had to pay for those too! I asked what they do with all the pictures of people whom don't buy them, her response was we hang on to them for awhile then shred them if not bought. Well I have an idea! Instead of taking everyone's pics why don't you ask us if we want one in the first place or include it in the final price of the entertainment. But all was very fun and set memories with the love of my life. Thank you!!!! Love Kona

This was absolutely awesome. The crew was very professional and made you feel at ease, explaining at all times what was happening as you submerged. On the other hand, the man who led the excursion was very, very funny in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about what we were seeing. His description of the longest and second longest fish species in Hawaii was hilarious. The seating was comfortable and the portholes were large enough to see and take photos of all the fish that swam by. I highly recommend this trip!

The submarine tour was good. Enjoyed Tomo's patter while many chatted over it. He was a consummate gentlemen. His stats about 40 of the Great Barrier Reef damaged or destroyed by man-made global warming are highly eggerated by global warming warmist high priests. No Matter. The submarine trip was fine but the luau was impossible to find and in my car I had to use a map because my GPS and maps couldn't find itl Kailua Kona is only good for those on a tour or hand-guided group. No parking, no signage, no help, nothing!!!!!

The submarine part was awesome!! Really a unique experience. But the luau wasn and #39;t that great, performance was ok, the guy dancing with fire is super cool, but food was terrible.

A MUST DO! I only rated it a 4 because of what you see compared to the Atlantis in the Cayman. I will however give it a 5 based on the crew being much more entertaining than the crew in the Caymans. If you've never been on a submarine before this trip is definately a 5 for you!

The submarine was incredible. Very professionally managed and a wonderful experience. The luau was nice, nothing special or unique if you have been to other luaus but if you haven't, it is an example of a good luau.

The submarine was cancelled a few times due to poor visibility but totally worth it for the experience. Landed on the ocean floor 107 ft down. Saw two ship wrecks and lots of fish. The luau evening was also fun, really enjoyed the dancing, the fire show and the Mai Tais. The food was pretty gd too.

The reef is dying because of the El Nino warmer waters, so the overall experience probably is not what it would have been a few years ago. We did see a shark up close which they said only happens once a month. A big negative for the sub ride was strictly that pier area of Kona has a very heavy and fairly aggressive homeless population. There were people bathing and essentially staying in the restrooms by the boarding area and all the local hotels. No bueno.

The views were great. The crew was able to move the sub so that both sides would get view's of special places on the ocean floor.

The submarine adventure was great! We saw a lot of fish and the guide was very informative. Would do the submarines again. However the Luau was marginal at best. I've been to Luau's on the other islands that were a lot better.

I would give the submarine tour a four and the luau a three. The dancing at the luau was amazing but the food was only so-so.

This was a very fun activity and appeals to all ages. Cody was our guide and he was very informative of the marine life as well as the ocean itself. We enjoyed the submarine more than the Luau but the Luau provided a pleasant insight to the Hawaiian culture.

My husband expected this tour to be kind of cheesy but went along to please me. He admitted this after the trip and expressed how surprised and pleased he was with it. He said it was the highlight of his trip! As for me, I loved it! The guide (Samantha?) was very knowledgeable. It was well worth the money especially paired with the luau.

A professionally operated and maintained submarine that will give you an experience that you cannot duplicate. A staff that you can trust, with experience and specific knowledge of what lies beneath.

We thoroughly enjoyed both the submarine adventure and luau at the Royal Kona resort. It isn't very often that you get the opportunity to go 100ft underwater to view the marine life without scuba gear! The luau was our first, so it is difficult to measure against others on the island, but it seems like several are put on by the same group - just at different venues. It was a great dinner experience - good food, drink, and entertainment.

It was definitely worth the adventure of the submarine. The crew is very friendly and nice. We saw soooo many fish and even eels and a shark! It was so cool to see them up close as we do not scuba dive. We just like the bragging rights of going on a submarine!!

Submarine trip on Wednesday was rescheduled due to heavy swells. Atlantis staff texted before 9am to arrange new day if possible, we did it on Friday instead, and so the Luau voucher was faxed direct to Royal Kona for collection at 5pm. _br/_ Luau was absolutely fantastic, professional set-up, great band, amazing dancers including the fire-dancer as the finale, excellent food, coffee and open bar! (soda, juice, beer, spirits and Meitai) Throughly enjoyed by all, especially the kids. Parking at luau was just $3, or there is free parking about 5minutes walk away. Photographer takes a group shot on entry, which is available for purchase after an hour for $20._br/_ Atlantis Submarine tour was well organised and safe. Photographer takes group shot before going out on the boat shuttle to the sub, and photos are available for $20 on return to boat, this includes a CD with your photo and images of fish etc from previous dives. The submarine went to depth of 100ft and included going around a shipwreck. We saw all sorts of fish and coral, including an eel "Elvis" and a barracuda. Optional purchase of the dive-log ($1) was well worth it as the kids spent lots of time ticking the boxes of the fish they had seen. Tour is narrated by one of the staff (not pre-recorded) and so he was able to tell us exactly what we could see and answer any questions. _br/_ Highly recommend doing both tours !!

PA system unbearably loud on sub--very distracting. To sum it up, more talk than action. Would not recommend it for adults, small children would be the more appropriate audience, but I wouldn't want to subject my young children to the decibels of the PA system. The CD doesn't contain all the material as advertised in the brochure-20 for that and a picture. I'd like to say I liked it, but there wasn't a whole lot to see and I walked away wishing there had been more. The luau was okay. The dancers entertaining. Some of the staff was indifferent and I would prefer to be asked to have my picture taken and not ordered to do so. The luau had a somewhat religious overtone, and there were a lot of people from different faiths/countries, so the push for hand holding and praying etc. I found to be potentially disrespectful. I would check out the show again if it wasn't for that type of stuff. Actually enjoyed the luau once the show started, better time than the submarine. Really turned off by all the nickel and diming, brochures that should be included with the price of the sub ride, preferred seating at the luau, buy a lei, it knicked away at having a fun time and focused more on being treated unequally. Didn't seem to jibe with the aloha spirit.
