Island Breeze Luau on the Big Island

Hawaii, United States of America

Experience the essence of Hawaii and the Polynesian Islands during this Island Breeze Luau! Located in the heart of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, this luau includes Polynesian cultural performances, such as Fijian and Maori dances of war, traditional Hawaiian hulas and jaw-dropping Samoan fire-knife dancing. In addition to an amazing show, you’ll receive a warm greeting with a shell lei, see traditional arts and crafts being made by hand, watch a royal procession, and feast on a mouthwatering Hawaiian buffet and open bar!

While on Hawaii’s Big Island, have an authentic, fun and entertaining experience at the Island Breeze Luau. Winner of the "Best of West Hawaii" award, the Island Breeze Luau at King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel is a favorite of both visitors and locals. You are invited to join the Island Breeze Luau for a unique cultural experience featuring delicious food, drinks and an amazing Polynesian production!

The luau is held in a beautiful oceanfront setting near the historic Kamakahonu Bay and Ahu’ena, King Kamehameha’s former estate in Kailua-Kona. Guests of the Island Breeze Luau will enjoy a backdrop of passing boats, outrigger canoes, Mt Hualalai and the twinkling lights of Kona. During the show, enjoy a 22-dish buffet, open bar, Polynesian arts and crafts demonstrations and a Royal Court procession. A highlight of the evening is the spectacular Polynesian Revue, consisting of cultural dances from around the islands.

Watch as a symbolic King Kamehameha I arrives by canoe, his arrival signaled by a Court Conch Herald and a Court Chanter. Follow his procession into the royal grounds to experience a luau that truly deserves Hawaii's royal title. Be amazed by other performances including Fijian and Maori dances of war, graceful Hawaiian hulas and daring Samoan fire-knife dancing.

The food isn't great, but it isn't bad. I've never been to a luau before, but it was about as good as what I'd expect from a mediocre Vegas buffet. The dancers and MC were amazing -- really made the night. The bar was open, but there was only one bartender and the drinks were bottom shelf. Bud and budlight for beer, the cheapest liquor you could find, and disgusting wine. It met my expectations, but I wouldn't go back. Definitely something you should do at least once in your life, though.

Show was great. Food was good. Drinks at open Bar was very good. Bar closes before show ends, they neglect to inform you before they close.

weather related: bad parking at extra cost then looking to fined where the line-up was no signs , after waiting in line and being sent out side in the rain and given a rain poncho only then told to go back in hotel ot another room that had no signs or people to say where to go .then had to wait about another hour to set up the room only to have the stage so low you couldn't see any of the floor dance work .truely felt like a school production vs something I paid 133.00 for . at the end 1 guy did a fire dance on the front grass of the hotel so everyone in the hotel and street got to watch in the pouring rain dropping things as it was really wet ....food was cold as it took the extra time to reset up lots of confusson on the part of staff setting up ... if I was to do it over would have booked when I got there so I could see what the weather was like first

My husband and I went to this luau in January 2018. It was right at our hotel so it was wonderful in that we didnt even have to drive anywhere after the luau. The dinner was great and the show was fantastic that they put on. The one thing I would recommend is to have an additional bartender or two. The line was very long to get a drink since they were only two bartenders. But all in all, I would highly recommend this luau to anyone who wants to have a fun evening and a great dinner. Karen and Richie

This luau was very nice even though there were maybe 200 people in attendance. Very well organzied. The food and drinks were very good and the show was enjoyable. I like the history/culture lesson they incorporate into the show. I liked the setting as well - next to a beach with the sun setting.

The staff was super friendly and the show was great. The food was okay, it seemed a bit bland to us but there were many choices to pick from.

We had a large group of 10 with someone who needed handicapped accessiblity. The staff, especially, Uncle Benny, were very helpful and nice. We were able to be seated with no problem. The activities and learning to hula were very fun. The best part were the dancers. They didn't just dance, they interacted with the crowd and made it extremely entertaining. Thanks for making our vacation even more memorable

The performances and food were great! However, it all felt a bit rushed. Some of the performances were on while we were lining up for food - so we missed some. For a buffet, all the food and 'open bar' was packed away rather quickly. It was a good night time activity!

Review by:   Cindy L,    November 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
Arrived to a very long line of people down a hallway and waited 15-20 minutes before being seated. After the check-in directed through an offer to purchase a flower lei or a photo opportunity. Then we were directed to a large table and the open bar. We enjoyed the Mai Tai while waiting for the Royal Procession. The show was just OK. I've been to many Lau's with a dance show and this one felt a bit over commercialized. Earlier seating instead of having us standing in a very long line and herded like cattle would have improved my experience.

The costumes and performances were great! Of course, the fire dancer is always a huge highlight and he didn't let us down. The event ran like a well oiled machine and the staff always had a friendly smile. My 3 traveling companions had never been to Hawaii and a luau is a must and they were so impressed. I highly recommend this luau to all.

This was our first trip to Hawaii and our first real Luau in Hawaii several years ago our family experienced a replicate of a Luau at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal in Orlando Florida We met great couples and families at our table. I finally go to try several of the foods on my list of dishes to try while in Hawaii. However by the time my table was released to make plates , they had ran out of poke. But there were a lot of talented entertainers, entertainment and the scenery was awesome.

Food was good, free drinks were great and the luau was OK. The Samoan fire dance is the most impressive, but it was great overall! I recommend!

We didn't stay at this hotel, but attended the luau on Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised! I went to high school with an oddly large amount of Pacific Islanders in California, so the dancing and show isn't foreign to me. We had countless people say oh I guess you have to go to one luau while your there, but don't waste your time going more than that. We truly enjoyed this show hosted at the Marriott, they had a fun cocktail hour where the performers interacted with you, the maitais were delicious yet not too strong, the food was delicious, and the performance was truly something to remember. Everything was done so professionally, I would totally recommend this luau to anyone who stays in Kona!

The Luau was everything that we expected. However, it was extremely disappointing that if we wanted the Leis we would have to pay for it. People are on vacation with no place to make it last for at least the duration of the trip. And, the trouble is that once you get in it's difficult to go out and buy an artificial one that is just as beautiful. The expensive store ABC had them for 1.69, imagine how little you would pay if you were to buy hundreds of them. We were absolutely convinced that the Leis was included because we saw people coming out of other Luaus and everybody had the artificial Leis.

There's a lot better Luau than this one. The setting is in a hotel and there's no Luau spirit has to fight for food at the line.

We enjoyed the entertainment at this luau and the interactive things to do before it started. The food offered a lot of variety and had enough things to eat the old standby items as well as try new local dishes.

This Luau is the best one I have ever been to. I would recommend it to everyone. The people that put this on are very nice and helpful and make it very enjoyable.

Enjoyed the Luau very much. The dancing was outstanding. Just being outside and near a body of water where it was warm was great, We come from a cold climate so it was wonderful.

One of the more modern Luau's that still kept to many older traditions. The food was very good and the entertainment was great!

The entertainment was excellent. The food very good and had a great assortment . The only thing I would change would be the selection of bar drinks. There were not enough choices for wine and mixed drinks were an extra charge. Even with that, the experience was fun.

Our Luau was great. It was a beautiful day and evening, our seats were perfect, food and drinks were good and served without long waiting lines, and the entertainment was great. Luau was a breeze to book. I would certainly do it again.

It was our first time attending a Luau and the experience was good. Food and the entertainment provided coupled with the seaside setting of the Luau made it a very enjoyable evening for both me and my wife.

Very disappointing, cheap luau. Overpriced. Based on the price, this should have been an upscale event at a luxury hotel. This hotel is actually a very old Courtyard Marriott.

The food was not very good at all. I tried just about everything. The experience was fun and you learned about hawaiian culture.

Our family of 8 enjoyed the experience. Check in took a while, but we found out the delay was for a group photo. Seating was easy. If you want a flower lei you need to purchase it. Food was fine - we even tried the poi. Entertainment was incredible. Definitely a and #34;must do and #34; for first-time visitors.

The food really wasn't very good. The bar drinks were very weak and watered down made with the cheapest products you can buy. It was not worth 98.00!!!!!!!!

The tour was a lot of fun. Marlea was friendly, accomodating and knowlegeable. That fact that it was pouring most of the time while we at Volcanoes was the only downside of the day, and obviously was just nature being nature. The scenery and stops were beautiful and the bus was comfortable. Great!

Entertainment was great. Best show on the island. Food was okay. It is outdoors and it started to rain a little in the beginning, but that was okay. Cooled it down a bit. Chairs and seating could be better. They were plastic folding chairs, which mine broke halfway through the show.
