Ho Chi Minh Cyclo and Walking Small Group Adventure Tour
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Explore the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City on foot and cyclo on this small group adventure tour. Travel like a local as you discover Ho Chi Minh City's many sights. Get a taste of colonial days at the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral, see the beautiful central post office and get an insight into the horror of modern war at the War Remnants museum.
Your tour begins at the General Post Office and from there to Notre Dame Cathedral, both fine examples of French colonial architecture. Continue towards the Reunification Palace,
previously known as the Presidential Palace, the site of the official
South Vietnamese surrender on April 30th, 1975. Entry is not included
but you will have the opportunity to take photographs. From there head over to the War Remnants museum. Originally opened in September 1975, the museum
displays old military equipment and other related items from the Vietnam
War including some larger exhibits including an F5A fighter and a
UH1-Huey helicopter.
Hop into a traditional cyclo, a three-wheeled bicycle with a carriage at the front for you to sit in, while the driver pedals you through Ho Chi Minh City. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of Ho Chi Minh City without the barrier of a car window or the sound of an engine. Travel through Tao Dan Park to the Tan Dinh wet market. Tanh Dinh serves as both produce market and community center as you will see the locals spend just about as much time with daily gossip as they do with the daily shopping. The last stop on the tour is the famous Ben Thanh market where you can practice your language skills bargaining for souvenirs, clothing and knick knacks. The market itself has an interesting history. Its original location was close to the Ben Nghe River and the old fort of Gia Dinh before it was destroyed in 1859 during the French invasion of Saigon. It was rebuilt and later moved to its present location in 1899.
At the end of your tour, you are free to continue exploring the area or your guide will assist you in getting a taxi back to your hotel.
This was a fun tour. Our guide was full of interesting facts.

Great tour, very informative and really interesting, it is a must do, to hear about Vietnam history. We had a lovely rep and cyclo drivers were very good, also giving information to us. Only disappointment was, we did not receive any photo's from the trip, which states will be e-mailed to you, gave rep e-mail address, but did not arrive. Would recommend this trip though, early start.

My respect to Vietnamese is undeniable. After learning their history especially the Vietnam war and the sufferings they had, I would say they are the bravest to have fought for their freedom. Thank you so much for sharing your past with the tourist like us.

Great tour guide Linda showed us so much of Ho Chi Minh city. and the cyclo bikes are an absolute must-an incredible experience in what must be some of the craziest traffic in the world! Highly recommend this tour-it does include War Remnants museum which is unbelievable but unmissable

Interesting way to find out a little about the city and find your way around. Great guide, full of information. We especially enjoyed the cyclo part where you felt you were playing with death in the traffic at times. The market was interesting as was the war museum. Worth doing.

Excellent day tour helps find your way round initially and the trip to the museum was brilliant plenty of time to look round at leisure. The market was an eye opener but worth visiting!

We had a great trip with Quang. Our family of four were the only people on the tour and he kindly adapted it to suit what the kids wanted to know and see. He was such a great guide - accommodating, happy and proud to show off his country with a great deal of knowledge. We highly recommend this tour to get your bearings and some history and you can't go wrong with Quang as your tour guide.

We were the only 2 on this tour with a delightful guide named Tham. The walking part of the tour was very interesting with Tham giving us good insight into the history of Vietnam. We walked to the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum which was extremely interesting. Tham all took us to the local market where she taught us some Vietnamese in the attempt to try to buy green onions and garlic. I'm sure the stall holders found it very amusing when we tried to speak to them in Vietnamese. I don't think we got the local price but it was a lot of fun. Then we took the Cyclo Tour and played in the traffic. Tham was always near us on a motorcycle and we found this a great way to see some of Ho Chi Minh and too feel part of the bustle of the city. I can thoroughly recommend this tour if you want to get up close and personal with the sights of the city. Tham was an excellent guide and looked after us very well. It was a wonderful experience.

Interesting, fun and a great way to get your bearings around Ho Chi Minh city.
Review by: Corina T, July 2013
I was a bit disappointed by this trip. We did hit on a few of the major sights I wanted to see but for the most part we were left to explore on our own and we weren't really given much background or history by the guide. Overall, I think we could have done this ourselves without the need for an organized tour. Overpriced for the experience.

Great tour. Heart-in-mouth moments in traffic whilst on cyclo!! War Remnants Museum was amazing, very moving. Would definitely recommend this tour.

I recommended this tour to friend's as a I had previously enjoyed the same Tour in 2011.
Review by: Belinda T, June 2013
This is a great way to see the sights, easier than crossing the roads, cyclo drivers looked after us well, and our guide Gem had all the information on every sight, and fantastic knowledge of the history of her country. Have recommended this to others.
Review by: Damian, June 2013
Not bad, but not good. Also we got ripped off by a cyclo later in our trip. So that left a sour taste.

We had ngoc pham as our tour guide and she was fantastic. We felt safe during the cyclo ride and ngoc explained the history of the different buildings in great detail. Highly recommended!

BRILLIANT way to see Ho Chi Minh City. Too much fun ducking and weaving through the chaotic traffic. Took us to all the highlights of HCMC, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, etc. great fun for our kids, grown ups loved it too
Review by: Christine A, March 2013
This tour is a great way to familiarise yourself with the main attractions in HCMC. The guide was excellent and travel by cyclo was also a fun way to travel to each point of interest. The Remnants Museum was quite interesting and information was presented from the North Vietnamese viewpoint.

Great tour to get a good overall sense of the downtown area. It was a half day and hit some good sights. The guide was very nice and knew alot about the places we went
Review by: Debra S, January 2013
A must do! Great experience. The bad news, we had 4 people in our group, our guide was great, went to tip the Cyclo drivers my husbands guy GRABBED money out of his hand. It was suggested 50,000 D, we were prepared to give each of our drivers 100,000 D the one guyed 200,000 D and took off.
Review by: Peter G, December 2012
The rickshaws where a fun way to get around but the tour guide bullied us into tipping the rickshaws drivers and when we offered money they always wanted more. Not a good combo for tourism
Review by: Gaye M, November 2012
Informative tour. Guide was very good. Museum was particularly good. Cyclo operators were very helpful.
Review by: Bernard E, October 2012
A top intro to HCMC, right amongst the cycles and traffic, guide knowledgeable, cyclo riders protective. Main sights visited or passed by, excellent orientation.

Great way to see the major city sights. Excellent and I would recommend it.
Review by: Matthew S, May 2012
A great tour to do at the start of your stay to find your bearings in this beautiful city. _br/_
Our guide was great and took a lot of pics for us. _br/_
The only thing I didnt like was the cyclo driver insisting a 200,000 dong tip and was not happy with the $2 recommended by the tour guide. That said, the tour was great and this was not a reflection of the Viator operation, just a greedy cyclo driver that probably once had a punter far richer than me that got carried away and gave a far to large tip!
Review by: Matthew L, May 2012
Great way to see important city sites with limited time. Guide and cyclo drivers were great. Tour ends at markets with some friendly advice on bargaining from the guide. Highly recommend!
Review by: Tara R, April 2012
Would recommend this tour, whilst its pretty easy to get around and see these sights yourself, it just adds to the experience on the cyclo and with the tour guide being very informative on all of the stops. War museum is a must if you are interested in the history of Vietnam.
