Highlights of Israel Day Trip: Jerusalem and the Dead Sea

Jerusalem, Israel

See the highlights of Israel in one day on an evocative sightseeing trip from Jerusalem. You will discover the ancient city of Jerusalem, a holy site for many different religions, before enjoying a therapeutic spa visit to the Dead Sea.  Few places in the world mean so much to so many people as these do, so if you only have a day to spare, make sure you see the best that Israel has to offer!

Setting out from Jerusalem your first stop will be the vantage point of the Mount of Olives for incredible views over Jerusalem and the Dome of the Rock at the Temple Mount Esplanade. Continue into the Old City itself, and pass the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed before his crucifixion.

After entering through the city walls, we will show you the famous Western Wall (Wailing Wall) which functions as an open-air synagogue for thousands of worshippers, before walking the pilgrimage route of the Via Dolorosa. Look out for the 14 Stations of the Cross as you trace Jesus' steps to the site of his crucifixion at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Your air-conditioned coach will be ready to pick you up, and in just under an hour you'll be at the Dead Sea for some relaxation time. Here you will have approximately two hours to walk around the mineral beach and enjoy the surreal experience of floating in the salt-rich water, 400m (1,312 ft) below sea level! Don't miss the chance to have a mud bath in the world's richest source of natural salts.

Your Highlights of Israel Day Trip will head back to Jerusalem, passing the historical city of Jericho (City of Palm Trees) en-route.

Combining ancient and natural wonders, Israel's top day trip is not to be missed!

We were supposed to go to the Garden of Gethsemane and didn't.

The tour was amazing! The tour guide was extremely informative. My only recommendation for the tour guide would be to explain to the guests that we are ok to purchase food and water/drinks at any time during the Jerusalem portion of the tour prior to heading to the Dead Sea.

This tour is a great way to see the highlights in Jerusalem and then enjoy some quality time in the Dead Sea. The explanations of our guide Amir were great and he has a great sense of humor, so the trip wasn't dreary and dull. I don't really like the whole arrangement with the restaurants or shops, since I would rather decide self to which shop or restaurant I want to go, but the ones we had to visit were OK.

Apart from not providing a pick up from the hotel as promised, the tour was excellent. Our guide Zahi was genuinely interested in giving us an insiders perspective and took us through by lanes and over roofs to show us vistas otherwise missed.

This was a great experience! A big thanks goes to our super knowledgeable guide Norbert! He knew all of the history and did a great job explaining it! He was also very happy to answer any of our questions! I will remember this day for a very long time!

If I didn't go I would have gotten lost in the maze of Old Jerusalem. I didn't like the place where they decided to take us for lunch. I should have gone on my own. Also I didn't like the place where e took us to buy souvenirs. I would have liked to see the the other stores.

This was a very good tour! I wanted to see more of Jerusalem and got exactly that! Much of the time is spent in the Jewish Quarter ie: the tour has a Jewish slant to it. There was ample time at the Western Wall and also the Holy Sepulchre - where the Jerusalem portion of the tour ends.

Great tour to see everything in Israel, you will come to holy moments so if you are trying to have a little more time in Old Town Jerusalem, I would look for another tour because the time is very limited, and lines are extremely long to see everything, we were left behind by our tour, we were told to meet at 100, and we didnt get to the location at 105pm and the tour guide was gone which was scary due to the fact we were alone and it's extremely difficult to make it out to an information center, but we finally did and we finally were able to meet with our guides, but we lost time, and not to mention the scare, so if you are trying to spend some time praying or just taking it all in maybe look for a tour that only does old city jerusalem, so you have more time to enjoy it without being left behind or rushed

The first part which is Jerusalem was incredible. The guide was on top of his game. However the way to the Dead sea was just a trip. We did not have a guide but a driver who barely explain the wonderful landscape and the history of the region.
