Private Tour: Historical Malacca Full-Day Tour from Kuala Lumpur including Lunch

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A tour for the history enthusiast - this private sightseeing tour gives you the opportunity to see the historic Malaysian state of Malacca with ease. Malacca is the oldest trading port in Malaysia with a strong Portuguese, Dutch and English influence. You will have the opportunity to sample a local lunch before heading back to Kuala Lumpur.

Approximately 2 hours south of Kuala Lumpur is historical Malacca, the third smallest state in Malaysia and one of the oldest, and most strategic, trading ports in Malaysia which has undergone Portuguese, Dutch and English rule. Visit St. Paul's Hill for a panoramic view of Malacca and its straits as well as the old town of Bandar Hilir.

View the famous gateway, the well known Portuguese Fort de Santiago and the ruins of St. Paul's Church lined by 17th century Dutch tombstones. Malacca is most well-known for its food. Most notable of all is the Nyonya-Baba cuisine which is a mixture of Chinese and Malay cooking with most dishes which are spicy in nature. You will enjoy a local lunch (included) before taking a stroll along the 'Antique Row' in Jonker Street.

On the way back to Kuala Lumpur you will stop by the Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia, to view Kampong Kling, a typical Malay village.

A day well spent! Comfortable trip with our knowledgable and chatty guide David. He explained the history of Malacca in detail and answered all our questions. Jonker street is beautiful, with so many treasures condensed in a such a small place. We loved the food, the intricate mixture of dutch and oriental heritage. I highly recommend a private tour as this is a long trip and you dont want to spend the most of it picking up and dropping off your fellow passengers.

This was a fantastic tour. Our private tour guide David was great. Can't really complain about anything. Really enjoyed the day. Melaka is fun and interesting place to visit. And once again David our tour guide was very accommodating, friendly and great !

Perfectly scheduled open air tour, worth every cent. Our talkative guide Henry was a real plus! He drove us to Malacca and showed us all the historical sites. It took about two hours to get there, then two hours back. Visit was about four hours, including a delicious lunch in a Nonya restaurant typical Peranakan cousine in the heart of the city, a visit to a couple of churches, a square, ruins from portuguese, dutch and british domination and an Amazing walk through the town, visiting a Mosque Taoist, Buddhist and Hindu temples, all in the same street! Very recommende!

Our guide Dennis was very knowledgeable and helpful. He provided good stories and history about Malacca while at the time left us alone if we wanted to do something on our own. The tour was great.

This was a full day of history and walking around a beautiful old town. We enjoyed seeing all of the buildings learning about the deep history of Malacca and Malaysia. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars was our guide. We felt rushed the full day and didn't get to give feedback on staying a few extra minutes here or there to enjoy the sights. Would recommend the tour, just need to be firm with the guide to make the most of your day.

place was excellent plus driver was also excellent and was very much cooperative. Even he was 50 years plus and I am 31 years young man but still he was ready to carry my luggage and baby as well. _br/_ I really appreciate his way of conversation and he gave my family excellent Protocol -- beyond expectation he was good and place of Malacca is also excellent

This very expensive tour to Melaka had NO AIRCON in the minivan thru out the journey! Ridiculous! _br/_ We are still waiting for the agent to revert to us.

the positives: the town and the history is very interesting, I had no idea that this town was such an important gateway for ships back in the days. The town is quite cute and there are a lot of interesting cafes and little restaurants and shops...that was the best part I suppose._br/_ the negatives: the driver was late and so we didn't start out on a positive note, further the driver spoke very broken english and I had to repeatedly ask him to repeat himself (double negative I know), however the biggest beef I had was his quiteness and lack of knowledge of the area. I had to ask him over and over again what this is and that and this...he was a very nice man however being a tour guide was not his forte...so overall a bit dissapointing

The private tour was organised very well. Go at your own pace and wander where you want. The lunch included was very nice as you get to choose your meals. My only suggestion would be to provide cold water during the drive as a welcoming touch for the tourists.

Pickup was prompt with a very informative and friendly guide who was a font of information, with several stops on the way explaining about the conditions that villages lived under. He was also an excellent guide around malacca with a vast amount of information about the history of the area.

Definitely ride in one of the Bicycle rickshaws - a surreal experience with THE most eclectic music accompanying: try Linkin Park, Britney Spears, Gregorian chant and local Malaysian tunes on from one boom box. The Nonya lunch is delicious and as I got to meet the chef, also a culinary education. So much to see and do in Malacca. My driver was knowledgeable, extremely helpful and considerate. _br/_ All in all, very worth the spend. Thank you for an awesome day.

Quite honestly, the driver and car were really fabulous, but the lunch was absolutely crap. I would've rathered eat at macdonalds store, because the meal was really yup. Everything else was really good, the guide was great., thanks.

Don't just stay in KL - book a tour to Malacca. We had a private tour which meant we could see more of what we wanted to and we didn't have to wait on anyone else.

Our tour guide was very friendly and had a lot of information about Malacca.

Review by:   Oana V,    September 2011 Review: 3 star rating: Worth doing
The guide was excellent, a walking history book, but the trip itself is only worth it if you have time to kill and there's nothing left to do. There are some interesting sites in Malacca to view, but most of them are replicas, so it doesn't really feel like a true historical tour. Plus, the fare doesn't include any of the museum entries, just the hotel pick-ups and lunch. We were also hoping to do a boat ride on the river, but that didn't really happen either. In the end, I'd only recommend this trip if you want to visit temples and antique stores...

Tour was OK. Would have been better if the guide came to the various sites with us instead of giving us information in the bus and then waiting for us

Nice day-trip from KL. Sites visited are only so-so. The historic relevance isn’t so important for non-Malaysians, but interesting. Traffic and crowds are terrible. Avoid going on a weekend._br/_ My guide was wonderful. Lunch provided is a set menu, but included a wide variety of dishes and was good.

Malacca was a wonderful trip. I learned a lot about Malaysian history and culture, in addition to visiting such great sites. Thank you very much!

Our guide was a bit laid back and not wanting to spend much energy on information. Left us to walk around alone quite a bit - but worth seeing this historic part of Malaysia and understanding some of the past.

One day is not enough to see Malacca. Price stated that it included entrance fees, but on arriving our tour guide said we where responsible for all fees. Tour guide was very political and had his own views and did not allow us to talk at all. He took control of the whole day, and it drove us insane.

I was charged a substantially higher price than other travelers. My guide quoted incorrect facts and was not really interested in what he was doing.
