PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course in Bayahibe

Take your first underwater breath and learn to dive in just half a day in Bayahibe. Explore the amazing Caribbean Sea by joining the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program. The tropical coral reefs are filled with beautiful marine life, so get down there and check it out! This short introductory program with a PADI-certified instructor includes a short theory session, a pool session and one ocean dive in the Caribbean Sea. By the end, you’ll be hooked and ready to continue your diving education!

Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving program begins at 8.30 am at the dive club located inside Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach. There you’ll meet your dive instructor, a certified PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) professional. You will fill out all of the necessary documentation and a medical questionnaire. The program is broken into three parts: a theory session, a pool session and a ocean dive.

At 9:00 am you will watch an informative video about basics of scuba diving and complete a simple quiz. Afterwards, around 11:30 am you will start the pool session. Under the watchful eye of your instructor, practice basic diving skills and get familiar with the tank, BCD, regulator, mask and other diving equipment. Learn how to control your buoyancy and breathe underwater!

In the afternoon around 2:30pm, you will prepare equipment and head with your instructor to a private beach to start your first open ocean dive. After entering the water with instructor, you will check your new skills during an open-water dive up to 12 meters. As you discover the amazing experience of swimming with colorful fish around the Ancora Reef, you’ll be a converted diving lover! At the end of your dive you will receive a recognition certificate!

If you are staying at the Viva Wyndham, I would suggest booking this tour. Otherwise, I would highly suggest against booking this tour. The staff is wonderful, but the excursion is spread out throughout the day and has two separate two hour breaks between parts of the excursion. During the breaks we were constantly harassed by Viva staff for not being guests not having bracelets and most are unaware that there is an excursion for non-guests on the site. To avoid being harassed during our second break, we just took a taxi back to our resort and going back and forth three times ended up costing more than the excursion itself. Additionally, we were reprimanded for not checking in a day in advance, but the number Viator provided us was out of service.
