Langkawi Mangrove Forest and Eagle Watching Tour

Langkawi, Malaysia

Appreciate the wonders of nature and its attributes towards the ecosystem on this Langkawi mangrove forest and eagle-watching tour in Tanjung Rhu. Travel by boat through its mangrove forest and discover Malaysia's most unusual ecosystems. Nature-love or not, you will come to admire the mangroves, waterways, limestone crags and sandy beaches, which create a kaleidoscope of fauna and flora in their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch at a local fish farm restaurant, venture into a bat cave to see these interesting creatures, and watch three different species of eagles being fed!

After pickup from your hotel, you will be taken to the Tanjung Rhu fishing village, which is home to Malaysia's incredibly diverse wildlife.
Discover this region's natural beauty as you travel by boat through limestone caves and hidden canyons, where monkeys, kingfishers, monitor lizards and mud crabs congregate along the river banks.

Get an even deeper appreciation for this fishing village by dining on delicious fresh seafood from a fish farm restaurant here. Then, enjoy the highlight of your tour: watching the three different species of protected eagles being fed, including the incredible bald eagle! Take out your camera or video camera as this scene is one not to be missed! After the last stop at a bat cave, cruise back to Tanjung Rhu along the coastal area of northern islands.

After a scrumptious meal, relax on your way back as you are dropped off at your hotel.

Must do trip

Firstly the monkeys you see in the picture, are only in Borneo, not in Langkawi,_br/_ We booked this tour, for being 5 hours. We drove for 1 hour, which is really nice to see the countryside. We then assumed that the tour would be 3 hours, and then the return drive another hour. Unfortunately, this was not the case, on arrival, we noticed a lot of people had towels and swimwear, which was not in the tour explanation. On boarding the boat we were told that we would be going to the bat cave, not mentioned in the Viator Itinerary, but it was ok. We then visited a local fish farm, we were told we had half an hour, this went onto 1 hour, with everyone just sitting looking at each other. We then did the eagles and onto another fish farm, for a lovely lunch. We were then informed we were going to a beach for activities, this was not in the Viator itinerary, it was hot we had no swim gear, and we had told our family it was only a 5 hour trip and to expect us back by 2.00pm. On speaking to the tour guide, he said it was a min of a 7 hour tour. We requested to be returned to our hotel and not visit the beach, which we kindly arranged but for an extra cost of 50MR._br/_ This was our first Viator tour, booked at the last moment, due to a cancellation of another tour, I do not believe we will ever do another one, with all the information being provided, to be so incorrect.

This was a great experience. Leaders we had two for different parts of the tour were both informative and cheerful. Saw lots of different species of animals and birds. We had heavy monsoon rains during our trip but apart from becoming saturated did not detract from the tour. Take a plastic poncho but prepare to get wet! Food for lunch was scrumptious. Fish farms were interesting.

Fabulous day. The pickup was without problem and our guide for the day Cairo was excellent. Great sense of humor and helped to make the day fun. We saw everything as stated and enjoyed it all. Lunch was fine and vegetarians were catered for. Overall, a day to remember.

We had an excellent, informative and humorous guide. Seeing monkeys, bats and eagles is guaranteed. The whole program is like a big boat ride with many stops, for example a bat cave, two fish farms, monkey-riverbank, white sand beach and lunch at a floating restaurant. The mangrove forest itself and the rock formations are wonderful. The trip also included some serious speeding with the boat which is insanely fun :. There is also some free time on a beach, so if you want bring your swimsuits as well. _br/_ I find the price a bit high though.

Definately see this, you never know what you will see. On this occasion besides monkeys stealing food from people on our boat we got to see a Female Green Viper hanging around a tree branch. This was great from beginning to the end.

Overall this tour was good, we saw lots of eagles and monkeys. The guide was very knowledge, had good English and kept a good pace but unfortunately the tour group was too big and there was only one guide for two boats and this left us without a guide at times. The boat was good but getting on and off was a bit tricky (and we had one of the good boats there were other boats that looked even harder to get in and out of) luckily for our group one of the men on your helped us on and off at each stop. Definitely worth doing but you just need to be aware of some of the pitfalls.

Even though the tour had a rough start with a missed/late hotel pick-up and not the most warm and welcoming driver, when we finally did get in our way it was worth the hassle. Our tour guide - Kairo - was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. They don't overcrowd the boat -as we saw most other tour operators do - and they really do cater to the personalities of the group. Would definitely recommend this tour...

Bat cave and eagle feeding were interesting. More time shd have been allocated to eagle feeding being the highlight of the tour. "Seafood" lunch was only fried rice with fried chicken. The only value add was the guide as the price is much higher than the going rates on the island being low season now.

highly recommend this tour! you get to do and see so much in one day! fanstastic value. and is actually cheaper to book through viator before departing than paying upon arrival locally. pick up was on time, travel time from palangi beach (west coast near airport) was about 45mins. wait time at venue was about 20mins due to other travellers late arrival. boats are small 4-8 people, with bench seats and a canopy for shade. free water bottles were given when we disembarked on the tour. weather was average with some rain however this had no affect, still an excellent day regardless. you see monkeys that swim and dive from the trees, eagles flying and swooping down, snakes, lizards, crabs etc... we weren't expecting to visit the crocodile cave, that was a great surprise (no crocs just a name for the cave). mid morning we stopped at the floating fish farm where you can feed fish and giant stingrays by hand. bat cave is excellent, you walk through it with an informative guide and the tourches are provided (do not pay for them). high tide prevents access to some areas but this doesn't ruin the experience. afterwards we went out to the ocean (again not expected) to feed coral fish and swim (if you want to) finished the day with a seafood lunch on a floating restaurant. Book this tour! it is amazing!

The knowledge base of our tour guide really made the tour as good as it was. We learnt more about the native flora and fauna than expected and were amazed at some of the scenery and wildlife around, especially the swimming monkeys which were a treat.
