Fuerteventura Day Trip from Lanzarote

Lanzarote, Spain

Experience beautiful Fuerteventura on a day trip from Lanzarote! Twice the size of its busier neighbor, this captivating island is all ancient volcanoes, sleepy villages and magnificent beaches. After a scenic ferry ride, join your coach with an expert guide to drive through its stunning landscapes and mountains. Enjoy free time to explore rustic hamlets such as Betancuria and get a glimpse of the colorful capital of Puerto del Rosario as you head towards the sand dunes at Corralejo. A fantastic way to discover this idyllic island.

Start your day trip with a pickup from your Lanzarote meeting point, and travel by air-conditioned coach to Playa Blanca, on the island’s southern coast. Board the ferry for your 30-minute crossing to Fuerteventura, an island that basks in the sparkling Atlantic to the south. Your ferry ticket is prebooked, so there’s no need to wait in line at the port. Once on board, sit back and contemplate the views over the waves and Fuerteventura on the horizon.

Head south through Fuerteventura’s dramatic, stark landscapes to Betancuria, the island’s former capital. Cradled into volcanic hills, this ancient whitewashed hamlet was named after the 15th-century Norman explorer, Jean de Béthencourt, who conquered the island. Stroll around its pretty squares independently, and perhaps visit pretty Santa Maria church to see its fine Baroque altar. Next, trace the corkscrew mountain roads to a spectacular viewpoint. Take photos of the breathtaking mountain scenery in front of you and look out for the cheeky chipmunks that make a point of visiting the spot.

Continue to Pajara, a traditional village famed for its Church of Our Lady of Regla, which boasts two aisles and Aztec-style door carvings. Wander around as you wish and then head towards South Corralejo, passing by Puerto del Rosario, the island’s capital.

Continue to the spectacular National Park of Fuerteventura. The sight of this 6-mile (11-kilometer) expanse of giant sand dunes merging into the aquamarine sea will have your camera working overtime! Afterward, return to Corralejo and, following your ferry crossing, finish your tour with a drop-off at the meeting point.

All excellent value - but it would have been nice to have had more time at Betancuria and the museum which were very good. Also we made our own way to Playa Blanca and were told that the ferry left at 10.30 and to be there by 10.10. We got there early as we weren't sure about parking, and then found out the ferry didn't leave until 11am. It's a shame we couldn't have left on the 10am ferry as that would have given us more time in Fuerteventura. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend this trip.

Awesome tour. My mother and I enjoyed it very much.

Fuerteventura tour is a 8 hours tour spent most of the time in the bus. There are 8 stops of 20 minute each circa. It is covered half of the island but there is no time to enjoy any of the stops due to time pressure, so everything has to be done quickly. We have stopped at the sand dunes, that it is the best part of Fuerteventura, for exactly 10 minutes with the bus waiting for us already ready to leave._br/_ I would have enjoy to do less but to have more time for a walk on the beach or enjoy a good relax meal. _br/_ The guide tour has been really kind, she was explaining the tour in 3 languages english, spanish and german one after the other, speaking really fast. I find it very confusing and hard to understand.

Wonderful day trip. Scenery is amazing. Enjoyed the trip to the goats cheese farm and the sand dunes.

Fuerteventura was amazing, especially Betancuria and dunes. But the group was too big and consisted of different language speaking people. The guide spoke consecutively in four languages and this was tiresome. I'd prefere only english.

This is long day spent mostly on the coach. Visits to various commercial entities Aloe Vera factory, Cheese Factory and a long drive through the Interior with a late lunch optional were OK with a good guide. There doesn't seem much to do, the landscape very arid and not a place of great beauty._br/_ No opportunity to do any shopping or time to sightsee independently. Longest stop was for lunch in the middle of nowhere.

This trip is absolutely fine if you are happy with a lot of travelling by coach. I enjoyed this trip but my partner not so much. We did feel that some of the stop offs were a little unecessary which meant we had less time at the better places. for example we stopped at a cafe before even catching the ferry. Would have preferred to have had the extra 30 minutes resting in the hotel, then we stopped in a town on Fuerteventura that was probably 80 closed was a saturday and only had 20 mins at the sand dunes, 10 minutes at a hill stop. There were some breathtaking views on the mountains that i hoped we would have stopped for. The ferry also provides plenty of good holiday snaps of the ports and sea. this ended up being nearly an 11 hour round trip of which only a few hours was spent 'exploring'. i like a coach trip hence why i enjoyed it. views from a window do not bother me and i got to see the highlights of Fuerteventura that i otherwise wouldnt have seen. not sure there is enough there for me to want to go back. The tour guide Roland was also very helpful and spoke a minimum of 5 languages fairly fluent. unexpected highlight were the mountain squirrels - a lot more friendly and curious than those in the UK.

Very nice tour! My favorite part was the sand dunes. Our guide was very sweet and I noticed that she took her time to talk to everyone on board. She went between English Spanish and german like a true pro! She was awesome! Fuerteventura is a nice island but Lanzarote is much nicer! Good tour!

Was a very good trip, the only thing was I wished we had longer on the beach! Didn and #39;t even have time to walk to the water!

The trip was very interesting with a few stops along the way with something for everyone. The trip was 11 hours so a little long and more than was advertised. A lot of time is spent driving in the mountains on roads hardly wide enough for two vehicles with sheer drop on the other side so if you don't have a head for heights you might want to look at some other trip.

Good in the way it offered an overview of everything the island had to offer - however there was not enough there to tempt us back, and we were very happy we were staying on Lanzarote . A lot of Fuerteventura seemed to consist of large areas of volcanic rubble - rather like an unfinished building site - not attractive.

We were not informed we needed our passports to visit Fuerteventura and didn't consider them as we were not leaving Spanish territory. We were told on the coach we couldn't go as we didn't have them. Gutted! In future please make sure this is made perfectly clear to other customers. We're going to Lanzerote again next year and hope we will have more success next time!

We were picked up from a meeting point just 5 mins from our hotel and taken to the ferry port by feeder bus. We were introduced to our guide and boarded the ferry, all informed as to which bus to board when we docked. Our guide was excellent, very informed and fluent in Spanish, English and German. We visited a goats' cheese farm with lots of tastings and no pressure to buy ,then had a coffee break in a delightful little village. Then it was on to an aloe vera factory....again no pressure and actually very interesting._br/_ We stopped for an optional 2 course lunch, excellent value at 10 euros, in a small village in the mountains._br/_ Lots of opportunities for photos followed on our nearly total round trip of the island, the sand dunes were very picturesque. _br/_ We boarded the ferry home, again without a hitch and on disembarking, were dropped at the door of our hotel._br/_ I paid just over 31 for the whole experience. The ferry fare alone was 40 euros and then you would be stuck in the ferry port at the other side._br/_ I would recommend this tour without hesitation. It is very well organised and excellent value. I also will use Viator again and have already recommended.

Good day trip from Lanzarote. We saw many of the natural geological features on Fuerteventura. Best way of seeing the sights on Fuerteventura as I would not want to have a full holiday staying on Fuerteventura. I would recommend this trip as a day trip from Lanzarote. Lunch was good.

Great trip I really enjoyed, but it was first and last time I booked something via Viator. _br/_ They send me a right confirmation for the day I booked, but for the company who was doing this tour they booked me for a week later. I was lucky that there was a seat available and as I had all right confirmations they let me go.

Very well organized tour from start to finish we were kept entertained by our Dutch guide in 3 languages. The highlights for us were the comfortable short cruise on the ferry from Playa Blanca then the bus trip with very efficient driver Martin on some highly dangerous and windy roads on the mountains, sometimes with no space for 2 cars, never mind a big coach !!! Visit of the aloe vera factory was great too..Average cheap lunch but not mandatory, excellent time keeping every step of the way, brilliant organization, our 1st trip with Viator and there will be plenty more !! Well done Team!!

Bring your passport for this one, you will need it to get to the island._br/_ It's a very good tour. The coach picks you all up and takes you to the ferry, the tour guide gets all the tickets and you take a ferry for about 30 minutes over to the other island the coach comes with you_br/_ You drive off to the cheese farm where you see some camels and lots of goats. Be careful near the Camel, he looks harmless and friendly enough but will bite if he thinks you are food. Though you do get to feed him, just dont hand feed him. After that you get to eat some goat cheese, yummy!_br/_ You then visit a small town which was the first settlement on the island, not much to do there but very nice scenery._br/_ From there you are taken to the Aloe Vera plant, where you get an demonstration on how they gather the Aloe Vera and what the inside of the plant is like, you are then given samples to try on your skin, even one to drink, then there is a shop to buy some if you want to._br/_ After that you stop off at the beach for a moment which has some amazing views and the sand is a different colour to other beaches on Lanzarote, it's almost white._br/_ After that you go back to the ferry and go home. A good day.

After pick up from hotel in Puerto Carmen we went to Playa Blanca where we had an hour to wander round while the coach picked up the people from Playa Blanca._br/_ Great ferry ride over to Fuerteventura where we travelled around the island stopping for a lovely Lunch of local soup then fish or chicken._br/_ Our Guide Paul was Fantastic and very Passionate about the history and future of the Island including Lanzarote._br/_ All in all a great day out and learned a lot about both Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Ferry was probably the best bit, the island in itself is a bit empty. Pretty scenery but not much else to rave about with this trip.

It was a great trip, however it did not go or stop in several places which would have given us a better gfeel for Fuerte Ventura. The bus took a long time making pick ups. Still the trip was more than worth it and a good value

It was nice to see a second island during our week long stay in Lanzarote. There was a thorough explanation of Fuerteventura, but it was a lot of time on the bus and not much time off the bus to look around.

Excellent guide and driver. Great lunch. The views were amazing. Enjoyed the visit to the aloe Vera factory. Only downside was that some of the stops were too short, but that is in the nature of this type of tour.

Was definately worth doing. Usually there is an aspect of a tour like this that I don't look forward to - in this instance it was the alo factory, but BOY am I glad it was included! Very interesting and informative, and you can even get a free massage! I am glad I stayed in Lanzarote and did this trip over, as opposed to vice versa, as there didn't appear to be much on offer in Fuertaventura. It is a great way of seeing two canary islands in one though!

We emailed for pick up instructions prior to the trip and were advised of a location about 5 minutes from our hotel, so it was a central area rather than accom specific as the tour seems to indicate.

firstly victor should strictly regulate which agency is finally subcontracted for this tour. Viator send us a message after taking humungous amount of personal details and whereabouts which possibly was all in vain. Instead of hotel pickup which was stated we were asked to go to a stop 1km away at 8:45 where we were to set sail for Fuerteventura only at 11am. Although we went in time to our stop no one turned up to pick us up at the scheduled time. When we called the local agency they said that we were supposed to stand somewhere else while we received mail from the sub sub-contracted agency to stand where we were. At last a third agency came and picked us up. We were taken to the port at 9:45 and left stranded stating that we would set sail only at 11am. _br/_ There is nothing to experience in Fuerteventura except its emptiness. So when one does a hectic 1day bus tour he/she ends up wasting the day. To experience calmness and emptiness of Fuerteventura you have to spend time there not do a day trip._br/_ Coming to the trip the guide was crazy, instead of counting number of heads she counted where empty seats were and confused herself once when a lady had changed her seat this led to an waste of 40mins unnecessarily. _br/_ When it came to closing by the sand dunes and beach, the driver and the guide chose to stop at a place where possibly the beach was the furthest (1.5km approx) from the road although we had crossed places where there was sand dunes and the beach was within 100m._br/_ Overall it was quite a boring day, although the lunch was good
