Lanzarote Day Tour Including Wine Tasting

Lanzarote, Spain

See beyond the beaches of Lanzarote on a full-day island tour, and discover geological marvels, volcanic landscapes and wine! With a local guide, explore Timanfaya National Park by coach and meander around the volcanic Fire Mountains (Montañas del Fuego), witnessing geothermic activity. Take photos by the green-hued El Golfo lake, and enjoy a wine tasting in the region of La Geria. Finish with a visit to Jameos Del Agua, a cave-turned-resort for free time to ogle the views.

Start your day at Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise, Puerto Calero or Arrecife meeting point, and then travel to Lanzarote’s south coast by air-conditioned coach.

Pass through Uga village and into Timanfaya National Park, where a ring of stunning volcanoes, known as the Fire Mountains, dominate the sun-baked landscape. Temperatures just below the park’s surface are said to hit around 752°F (400°C), and geothermic demonstrations — such as the creation of mini geysers by pouring water into the ground — are commonplace. Hop out of your coach to see such tricks take place, and hear stories from your guide about past eruptions.

Follow the ‘volcanic route’ through the park and travel west to Timanfaya’s rocky coast to see where a large lava field once flowed down to the North Atlantic Ocean. Stop for photos by the emerald lake of El Golfo.

In the afternoon, leave Timanfaya National Park for the winemaking region of La Geria. The area’s otherworldly scenery is unique for a Spanish wine region, created from the remains of an ancient volcanic eruption. Hear how the volcanic soil, hot climate and cooling ocean winds combine to produce Lanzarote’s mineral-rich wine, and learn about the crisp tones for which the wine is prized.

Visit a winery and sample a glass of wine made in La Geria. Varietals are subject to change, but typically include wine made from the local malvasia grape. Then, return to your coach and continue through the picturesque La Valles and Haria regions of northern Lanzarote.

Enjoy a final stop at Jameos Del Agua, a unique cave resort designed by local artist CĂ©sar Manrique. Complete with restaurants, a cafe, garden and auditorium, the site features a salt lagoon with albino crabs. Use your free time to soak up the views along Lanzarote’s northern coast and La Graciosa island, just across the water. Return to your coach at the prearranged time and finish with a drop-off at the meeting point.

The tour was excellent, we really saw the whole island and learnt so much. Our tour guide lady was wonderful, informative and helpful :

Day of trip 15th March 2018. Unfortunately for us the day of our trip was a cold rainy day. They have about twenty rain days in the the year and so we were unlucky. The island in March is lovely and green. The temperatures are pleasant but today it was a little cold. We could have been better prepared. We covered quite a large area in the southern part of the island. Visiting the volcano sites was incredible. About 2 o'clock we stopped at the designated place for lunch. _br/_ There was a good deal to have a buffet meal with a drink for 8. Or you could have sandwiches at the bar. We opted for the buffet deal there was not anything in the bar for vegans. Unfortunately they did not cater for vegans in the buffet section either. I spoke with the man replenishing the trays about non meat dishes and he just shrugged his shoulders. My guide was the same. Although I paid the 8 I barely had anything to eat other than lettuce tomatoes and bread. Every single dish rice, pasta all had meat added to it. Why?_br/_ Later in the afternoon we went to the camel station here camels were all seated and waiting for tourist to go and have a ride on them. The seats looked very uncomfortable and the poor animals were sitting there in the cold drizzling rain. I took photos but did not ride as I think it is cruel. They were muzzled and any that got up were told to sit back down again. This spoilt the trip for me.

Excellent comprehensive tour of the island with lively knowledgeable guide, The only disappointment was the 'wine-tasting', which consisted of a thimble-full of indifferent white or red wine with no explanation or commentary. Buffet lunch was first class with a huge choice. Each stop was carefully planned to be the right length - time to appreciate the view but not enough to get boring.

A comprehensive tour covering all parts of the island. A really packed day with lots of interesting places. Unfortunately we did not get to see the green lagoon because of safety work being carried out to the access. Nothing you could do to change the situation and the history and information about the ecology made it a must for a future visit. Brilliant driver and guide made for a thoroughly interesting and exhausting day..

Review by:   adamososki,    August 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
Very disappointed. Tour guide was not understandable, so we missed most of the commentary. A fellow passenger broke her ankle at the bottom of the caverns, and the guide was particular unhelpful. The wine tasting was a gift shop with a thimbleful of vinegar. I wouldn't recommend Low Cost Tours

Really good trip to see the highlights of the island. Guide was really good and knowledgeable. Only thing I'd change is there was a stop after El Golfo for drink and cake and a lot of people bought food here as it was after 12. There was then another stop at a museum/shop which included a taste of wine which could have been left out and then another scheduled stop for lunch where vouchers were sold on the coach. If he had said this before the first stop people probably wouldn't have bought cake/lunch although this was quite late 2pm.

Exclude the endless pickups from every hotel on the island seemed like that this tour is superb. Great informative guide and skillfull coach driver had to be, given some of the narrow roads tight bends Superb day and not expensive

Grand tour, the first part of the tour is interesting and by far the highlight, where you visit the national park which is the most volcanic part of the island, very barren, but also very fascinating. you get quite a lengthy drive around the volcanoes. this would certainly be a must see in my opinion.

It was a really good tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I was impressed with how many languages he could speak._br/_ If you are getting picked up in a place other than your hotel make sure you know the exact address because I did get lost, when I called they were very helpful though! Pack snacks!

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS TOUR! But do go with another operator – the island is really worth seeing!_br/_ Why not this tour? Well, we were packed like sardines onto an old, tired-looking double decker bus with worn seats and brown (once cream) filth-encrusted panels. If you are unfortunate enough to sit anywhere near the back of the bus you won’t be able to hear half the commentary because of the engine screaming at you – although based on the bland snippets I did hear this may actually be a blessing. (E.g. Did you know that Cesar Manrique died on September 25, 1992 in a car crash? I do. Having had this repeated to me at least 9 times, it’s a useless piece of trivia I shall never forget – and remember, I was at the back of the bus and could only hear half what he was saying)._br/_ The wine tasting part of the tour was such a waste of time that I won’t waste any more time on it by going into detail here. The lunch was like being back at the airport, everyone rushing and squashing and elbowing in the queue, all while an odious beady-eyed waiter shouted abuse at us in a barely comprehensible hybrid language combining Spanish, English, German and perhaps a few others that I didn’t make out. The food at lunch was mostly edible, however flavour (beyond salt) was clearly not the chef's goal._br/_ Returning to the bus, the only thing the overhead air conditioning was able to accomplish was to give me a chilly elbow and soak my seat with dripping water. Finally, the end of the tour, to quote a fellow hapless passenger, was “dragging the unholy a*** out of it,” much like this review. So I will finish by saying I have been on such tours all over Europe, and even on another of the Canary Islands, and this was undoubtedly the least enjoyable, despite the best efforts of the island's beautiful scenery.

Ok so be prepared for a really long day. We were due to be picked up at 9.55am however the bus finally arrived at 10.20am. We got dropped off at the end of the day at 7.30pm._br/_ I have to agree with past reviews that you will spend a lot of time on the bus. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable._br/_ Organiser- PLEASE listen to the reviews, the trip to the vineyard was a waste of time- we all got off , walked into a room, tasted a thimble of wine then got straight back onto the bus ! No tour, no talk, we didn't even know what we had Tasted ! _br/_ The trip to the volcano was good and also the camel ride 6 euros each _br/_ Overall a good way to see the whole island, just drop the vineyard !

Extremely good tour of the whole island of Lanzarote. You can experience a wide range of culture of the island all jam-packed into one day. Only thing I would change is maybe shorten the tour by an hour or so as by the end of it I was a little too tired for my comfort. Also would improve the range of cuisine at the optional buffet provided, as it wasn't very exciting. however despite these minor things I had a great time and would recommend to most people thinking of going to experience Lanzarote.

Try this on your first day in Lanzarote. The tour includes many things to see, you will have chance to see almost everything, but the time is really limited, so in the next days you can visit your favorite places again. The bus was really good, the multi-language information really useful, and Lanzarote is exciting.

Enjoyable, informative, not sure of the point of the wine tasting visit , other than to slug down a few shots of wine, there was really nothing else there to see really....anyway free wine is always nice.._br/_ The lunch was good but possibly could have been a little more sociable, _br/_ it was a little school canteen-ish._br/_ Notwithstanding that it was a good day out and worth the money.

Having spent the last 9 hours of my holiday on this excursion I feel drained, disappointed and ripped off. Of the entire time only 2 hours was not sat on the air conditioned coach and an hour of that they assigned to an under average, over expensive buffet lunch where even the process of cooking

The tour was good value for money as we got to see a lot of the main features of the island. However, the wine tasting wasn and #39;t good as all we did was sample a shot glass of either white or red. The lunch was not nice either, I would have much prefered to eat at the bbq at the volcano.

This was an excellent trip and a great way to see the island in one day. _br/_ I would however question the wine tasting part pamper your palate with samples of refined wines in the region of La Geria Visit a winery in La Geria and sample a selection of the islands crisp and fruity volcanic wine. The tour came to an awkward stop at this venue which had a small museum and gift shop, with the wine tasting aspect which was situated in the courtyard, providing a small sample from either a barrel of white or red or both if you asked wine - not what I'd call a selection._br/_ That said, the tour did provide value for money with great sight-seeing of Lanzarote._br/_ As others have said - take layers of clothing as the weather is changeable, even in June!

Bello tour dell'isola, paesaggi suggestivi. Ottimo per prendere confidenza con la topografia del l'isola per poi organizzare escursioni in autonomia. Unica pecca i ritmi troppo serrati.

The content of the tour was great - the volcano etc all very worth seeing, but there was far too much time spent on coffee and toilet breaks which meant that the tour over ran quite significantly. The guide was interesting but got a bit boring at times.

Great day out, loved the volcanoes, scenery and lunch was blooming lovely. Only downside was the wine tasting - really!!!!! It is not worth getting off the bus for - u get ONE thimble of mead horrid and not a wine tasting at all - don't learn nothing about the grapes, process or anything. Wear layers u can take off as cold and windy at top but still loved it :

Superb fast track visit to this beautiful island in one day. The volcanic landscape was other worldly and the aluminous miniature albino crabs were also definitely like being from another planet but beautiful and mesmeric in the dark cave. Good lunch provided with plenty of choice and nice to get a sample of the local wines. Make sure to take a jacket as the weather can be a bit breezy and overcast especially on the number of highpoints we visited with stunning views of the west and northern coasts of the island. All and all this is a well worthwhile tour to take with plenty on offer.

Overall the tour was good value with an informative and friendly guide. The stops seemed to be around the right length, not too rushed._br/_ I'm not sure that the wine tasting added anything to the tour as there was no information at the venue about the wine just a quick taster and time to look round the shop. That said the day tour was was well worthwhile.

Great way to see the best sights of Lanzarote. Although it was a long day it didn't feel like it. The guide was very knowledgable. This tour is a must if you want to drive around the national park. Lunch that was provided was excellent and the fact that jugs of wine were included with it was a bonus!!

Very well organised tour with an excellent guide with a great sense of humour, many interesting facts, and you also get to see parts of Timanfaya National Park that you can't see by car, alongwith priority entrance for tours!! This really is a must-see tour!!

A good tour but some aspects need improving. Hotel pickup was nearly 30 minutes late. We then spent another hour collecting other passengers which meant the tour did not really start until close to 11am even though the pick up from our hotel was 0915._br/_ We booked an English speaking tour but it was bi-lingual Spanish and English . No problem for our excellent tour guide._br/_ Lunch is poor so save your money and take a sandwich !_br/_ Biggest disappointment was the wine tasting. Here was an opportunity to explain the many challenges facing Lanzarote wine producers. Not a chance ! We were ushered into a room and simply asked if we wanted sweet or dry white wine. That was it. No explanation was given to accompany the tasting._br/_ The remainder of the tour was fine._br/_ So, address the problems of pickup, lunch and wine tasting and then you have an excellent product.
