Tours exploring the untouched and carefully preserved Tasmanian Wilderness are a must for anyone visiting Tasmania. Our tour guide and bus driver Headley was on time and provided terrific commentary. On site, our guide Megan was informative and sympathetic to the abilities of the group by modifying and pacing the walking tours for us._br/_ It is a long day tour, but the scenery is quite spectacular! A must see for the nature enthusiast.

Absolutely fabulous! Our guide was so wonderful and knowledgeable. Cradle mountain and Dove Lake are spectacular. Wish I could have stayed there longer. Will definitely do it again.

A fantastic experience. Bus arrived on schedule. Imogen, our guide for the day gave a commentary which was informative and interesting on a range of topics- places, history, landmarks etc. We stopped at Sheffield briefly, before making the drive to Cradle Mountain. Imogen had everything organised for us which was great. She kept a steady pace for us to walk around Dove Lake, stopping along the way to explain certain features, and giving us time to take photos. Scenery was amazing, plenty of photo opportunities. It was cool and a rain jacket was handy for the showers that occurred. Good walking shoes are a must. Afterwards, we had lunch - wraps/sandwiches, drink in a hut, followed by a visit to Waldheim house. We stopped at Ashgrove Cheese before heading back to Launceston. Overall, the experience exceeded expectations - wealth of information gained by being with an excellent guide and only a small group of about 9, access to the park and facilities, for a first time visit to the area the day was very enjoyable.

Perfect weather for a clear view of Cradle mountain. The coach driver's commentary was interesting and informative. It's an excellent way to see the countryside and we stopped at a couple of the towns. A most enjoyable day trip.

We were lucky in having a perfect spring day which did help. The McDermott's coach driver/guide was most friendly, helpful and full of added info all the way there and back for that matter. He was a key ingredient to making the days tour informative, educational and therefore more enjoyable with meaning and purpose to the days outing. All it did was whets one appetite to go back for a longer time and go trekking in the Mt. Cradle National Park.

This is an excellent trip if you would like to experience Cradle mountain. _br/_ During the stop at the visitor centre, keep an eye for wombat as they roam freely in the area. There was plenty of time to do the glacier stone hike nice view from here and a walk to the opposite side of the lake.

Our Tour to Cradle Mountain was surely Memorable, with Hedley our Tour guide and bus driver a full comprehensive informative tour from hotel pick up to drop off. We got to meet some local Wombats, which is a first for us, in there own natural environment, friendly enough for a pat. The weather was of cause very cold and windy, just what we expected, with a beautiful dusting of snow on the Mountains. Loved our day and will be back some day for sure. The stop to the Cheese Factory on the way back to Launceston is a great compliment to the Tour as the Cheese is Delicious and so glad we bought some home. Thanks again for a Great Day out!

We experienced Cradle Mountain at its finest. We were told it rains 240+ days there but it was sunny and bright during our trip. Paul our Guide had an encyclopedic knowledge which he shared with us. Strongly recommend the tour.

This tour is very much at the mercy of the weather. On a clear day the views are fantastic and you're likely to have a long walk around the lake though there's not enough time to climb the mountain. On a bad day the mountain will probably be covered in cloud and you'll spend most of your time in the various visitor's centres and lodges. However whatever the conditions you're likely to see several varieties of wild Australian marsupials. Takes several hours each way to get there which includes a number of photo stops and a stop at a cheese factory, but within Launceston the hotel pickup and set down are reasonably quick due to the town's small size.

the group arrived at cradle mountain were there was a cycling event being held, a shocker of a day raining fog ect by the time we arrived at the mountain blue sky's an encouraging sign. the trip itself was hurried we only saw half of what was offered.

It was amazing to get to visit Cradle Mountain. And the weather was very kind to us the day we went, as it has been raining and windy. I would love to go back and do some trekking and take in the beautiful surrounding again. Big thank you to our guide Headley, you made my Launceston trip complete.

Amazing day tour. Cradle Mountain lived up to its reputation. It even snowed on us for a few minutes. So excited over that. We had only a few on the bus and our tour guide knew his stuff too.

Great landscape, too many wasps unfortunately. I wouldn't go back again in January, but would love to see it in winter. Long drive from Launceston, shame we didn't go those extra 80km to see Lake St Clare Dove Lake is lovely though. Stopping in Sheffield to look at murals and buy food was an excellent idea, 45 minutes would have been better 25 wasn't enough to do or see much. Lots of info and excellent homemade ice cream to top off a nice day. Making this tour longer to accommodate visit to Lake St Clare for an hour, and 20 more minutes in Sheffield, would make this tour a truly spectacular experience. Make it 12h not 9h trip, and you can fit it all in.

Okay, the weather wasn't the best for a return visit to Cradle Mountain but it was still as spectacular! The peak, shrouded in mist, had a mystic. Walked to Lake Killa and shared my lunch with some very bold currawangs. Returned to Waldheim, and the home of Gustav, the Austrian responsible for saving the area as a National Park, a truly dedicated man!

The trip was amazing - loved every minute of it! Lane not sure how to spell his name was fantastic - he is very knowledgeable and gave a fascinating commentary as we drove along! In fact his commentary made the trip for me - that plus the scenery! He was also able to get a 4WD vehicle so we could get to Dove Lake which was great otherwise we would have missed that spectacular experience.....snow everywhere.....wombats munching away and little wallabies sheltering under the trees - it was a treat from start to finish!......then to cap it all off we stopped at the Lodge for a hot chocolate by the log fire.......oh sigh.....bliss! I'd recommend this trip to anyone as a must do must see experience! Thank You!

Tour was Monday 27 April and I was the only tourist on the trip. Headley the driver/guide was excellent, with a wide range of interesting information to impart. The weather was super so the views to the peaks was fabulous. All in all, a great day out.

Great day out with much-appreciated stops in Sheffield for the murals and for cheese on the way back. Loved the walks at Cradle mountain, the knowledge of our guide and the scenery. We went with our 8-year-old son, and he was as captivated by it all as we were! We definitely recommend this activity!

A lot of activities couldn't be done according to what the tour is advertised, like bush walking, because of snowing.

Great day spent, our guide/driver Leigh was very knowledgeble and shared a lot of information about Launceston and all the places we drove past all the way to the National Park and back. Cradle mountain is a must-go, beautiful landscape, Dove lake and a boat shed on the other side. On the way back, we stopover at Ashgrove Cheese Farm, great tasting. Definite must-taste cheeses (at least for me) are the black pepper, wasabi and marinated feta. :)

Small tour and tour guide very knowledgeable. A long drive for amount of time there and once there so far from mountain not sure it was worth it. Rest stop disappointing. Hostile female member of staff serving who didn't listen when ordered and then when we asked where part of order was got annoyed. Perhaps a customer service course would be good for her to attend!

Review by:   Chi Ho K,    January 2014 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The view up there is fantastic, but the trip only allowed an one hour walk at Dove lake, which is definitely not enough to enjoy the view.

Excellent tour made even better by the minibus driver, Stan, who added a 'wealth of knowledge' to a very full day to Cradle Mountain. He was obviously very proud of his island and conveyed that love with a very informative chat all the way from Launceston to the National Park! We stopped along the way at Railton (town of wall topiary) and coffee and cake at Sheffield (town of wall murals) before heading into the spectacular scenery of Cradle Mountain. We had plenty of time at Dove Lake for lunch and a walk at the water's edge. It's a tour I won't forget in a hurry, absolutely wonderful! A visit to Waldheim, home of Gustav Weindorfer, pioneer and acknowledged founder of the park was 'a must', and we all felt priviledged to share this national treasure. I could have stayed longer but alas, it was soon time to leave. We still managed to stop-off on the way back to a cheese farm/shop at Elizabeth Town to sample the goodies of Ashgrove Diary. A memorable tour with lots of extras thrown in for good measure, highly recommended!

We had a great day. Our driver was very knowledgeable and you wouldn't want to be doing the driving on the winding road into the park. We had plenty of time to stretch the legs at Dove Lake ( which was quite beautiful). The Cheese Shop was a nice break on the way home.

On time pickup - stopped in Sheffield on the way which wasn't very interesting and could have been shorter. Toilets at the mountain visitor centre are pretty bad and unfortunately the weather was awful so we never saw the mountain. Didn't realize till we got back that guide hadn't even gestured to where it was within the clouds. Walks round the lake are OK, but a poor substitute. Visit to a pioneer’s house was interesting but nothing special. Quick walk round a waterfall path was probably the best bit. The inevitable visit to a shop (cheese) on the way back was disappointing and lingered for too long. Would have been better to find an additional place to stop within the park itself. Both coaches (we swapped) were OK, but there were no on-board toilets. Guide did his best with the commentary, but most of the scenery on the way there and back was shrouded in cloud (though the day before and the day after would both have been fine).

Great day out in the mountains never been to Tasmania before and to experience the waterfalls, Dove Lake on a fine day. Driver was knowable and went out of his way to point out interesting points along the way except somethings was missed- Cethana Dam and Enchanted Forest Walk viewing pencil pine, lush forest and a spectacular waterfall. This was disappointing was expecting more and to stop for both morning tea and lunch in the same place with limited choices of food?

Fun day, though a bit more time to walk around Dove lake would have been appreciated. I should warn you that as the drive from Launceston is long, the amount of time spent at Cradle Mountain is quite small. Absolutely beautiful though!

Cradle Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. Would have loved to spend longer at Dove Lake though, an hour isn't really enough. I quite enjoyed the stopover at Sheffield on the way back.
