Small Group Lima Discovery Walking Tour

Lima, Peru

There's no better way to explore Lima than on a small group walking tour! Try out some Spanish greetings, stroll around the central market, try pisco sour and explore the Monasterio San Francisco. You'll interact with locals at a pub and delve into Lima's history. With a maximum of 12 people, this small group tour offers a personal experience while exploring the streets of Lima!

You'll start your Lima city tour by learning a few words in Spanish from your local guide. Journey from the Bolivar hotel out to the City of Kings by walking along the famous Jiron de la Union, the pedestrian avenue linking Plaza San Martin to Plaza de Armas.

Before heading to the market, you'll make a brief stop at the San Pedro de Lima Church. The market is a great way to learn about the local cuisine of Peru. On display is fresh produce from the jungle to the coast and the Altiplano. With local dishes and fresh juices, the central market will have something of interest for everyone!

A trip to Lima isn't complete without stopping at the San Pedro de Lima church. Built in the 17th century and modeled on the Iglesia de Gesu, the church still preserves its original bell and is still an important spiritual center for many Limenos.

After, you'll visit the Monasterio San Francisco, home to the large underground catacombs said to connect the monastery with nearby churches. Finally stop to rest and try a traditional Pisco Sour in the place where it was invented (or at least so they claim!).

The tour concludes in the Plaza de Armas. You're free to continue exploring on your own or your guide can assist you in getting you back to your Lima hotel.

Make this your first tour to get your orientation to the city. Paula, our tour guide, quickly adapted to our group of 3, personalized the tour for us, gave a good overview of Lima history, answered all our questions, made recommendations for dinner and called an Uber for us! We could not have asked for more....Oh Yes! We had the best Pisco Sour on the tour--where the original was developed by an American. Who Knew!

Our tour guide was awesome and since there were only 2 of us on the tour, she adjusted to what we wanted to see and was super patient in answering all of our questions about Lima and the area.

I don't think I can say how incredible our walk tour around Lima with Millie was. She gave us 100 of her energy, time, sense of humor, knowledge for over 3 hours. We saw architecture, food markets, monistary, catacombs - it was the best day ever. At the end she treated us to a Pescos Sour which was delicious. Thank you, Millie, for a great day. Di and Richard

Traffic is a terrific headache in Lima so walking to discover downtown is really the best option. We loved the tour, very interesting history and Fabiana, the guide was great!!

We learned so much from Fafiana. She was smart, funny, and very sweet. She explained th sights to us in perfect English. The tour was very worthwhile and recommend to all to get a flavor of downtown Lima and its history. Fafiana even accompanied us on our taxi ride to Park de la Reserva afterwards

This is advertised as a 4 hour tour we were through in 2 hours. Our guide Paula was very nice and answered questions when asked but was not really forthcoming with lots of info, would have appreciated much more info about Peru and Lima.

Paula was knowledgeable and picked up on what we wanted to see and moved along when we were ready to visit the next site. The length of the tour was perfect and Paula was easy to talk to and her English was excellent. Lovely person.

What a great tour this is. Very informative and you get to see so much. Lima is such a beautiful city and is well worth a closer look and this is the way to do it. Our first taste of the legendary Pisco Sour at the Hotel Maury was a highlight. You feel that you are walking into a bank and then there's this beautiful bar. We had a great time.

We loved this tour. It was just the right amount of time and our guide was wonderful. Taking the tour was much more efficient than trying to find the things we saw on our own. If we were on our own we would have passed by buildings not knowing what they were. Having the guide was an absolute benefit. We highly recommend this tour.

We started on time which is good, however, the tour was cut short. I anticipated it would have been a 3 hour walking tour as stated in the website, but instead in 2 hours we finished at a downtown bar to drink the traditional Peruvian drink pisco?

I was the only one so had a personalized tour and felt I was walking with someone who had more than a passing knowledge of both the architecture, the politics and the people. The market with the different fruits and vegetables and the guide's explanation of how to use it was fascinating

Theresa was the best tour guide! She spoke amazing English and was incredibly knowledgable. She was on time at the pick up location. Given there was only two people on the tour it ended up being very private. The catecombs were really great. It was a really fun way to understand the history of Lima and its people. Would recommend this tour to others.

I would recommend this to every one who is new to Lima. Our tour guide Theresa was fantastic/excellent. She taught us how to be street wise. Make sure you have Theresa as your tour guide. At the end of the tour she called a taxi for us - which was extremely reasonable in price.

The trip was designed to never happen. The cruise ship docks miles away from Lima at 7 am and departs at 4:30. From the ship we telephoned the guide to confirm and was told that it takes 2 hours to get to Lima in the morning because of the traffic and she could only meet us at 9am or 2pm. Do the math. You can never get off a ship as soon as it docks and what will you see if you meet her at 2 and have to be back by 4. Unless you are staying in Lima...........save your money.

This is the way to see the old part of Lima. Our knowledgeable guide navigated us through all the interesting part in this area of the city. Also it is nice to walk the town rather than sit on a bus, if you know what I mean! The catacombs are the highlight of the tour as well as the bar that claims to be the home of the Pisco Sour in Peru

This was a wonderful tour! The hours walking went so quickly as we learned so much. We are two seniors who walk somewhat frequently. Our guide was just delightful and so knowledgeable. So glad we did this tour with Teresa. Don't hesitate to book this tour! Enjoyed the churches the markets and warm feeling from our guide. Loved the Pisco sours! Hi to Teresa from the two seniors from Chicago

Our guide, Terese, was excellent. She is very knowledgeable about Lima's history, the culture and the traditions of the people. Yet, she did not bombard us with too much information. I like her style. She is relaxed, yet very professional. The pace of the tour was perfect. Thank you!

Our guide Paula was outstanding. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the sites we visited. The highlight of the tour was the last stop when we visited the Maury Hotel where Pisco Sour was invented. Paula explained the history of this Peruvian drink and we got to try a glass. The tour lasted about 3.5 hours and Paula gave us good restaurant recommendations when we left. Highly recommended.

The five of us had one day to spend in Lima on our way to Cusco. I found this tour online a couple of days before we left Houston. Theresa of Urban Adventures - Latin America met us early at the designated spot. The tour ended up just being the five of us. I cannot say enough about both Theresa's professionalism and knowledge. Theresa talked continuously throughout the 4+ hour tour, covering Peruvian history and culture in all aspects. I got the feeling should could do 8 hours easily. I highly recommend this tour.

A wonderful experience, history and modern culture woven in one trip. It is a "must do" if you want to get an overview of history of Peru and the coming together of 2 cultures, Inca and Spanish. Downtown Lima is clean and I felt safe, police is visible everywhere, they are very friendly and helpful and speak good English.
