Ljubljana has a large pedestrian friendly center to it which means that the normal tourist city sightseeing bus tour was out of the question. I decided to book the Ljubljana City walking tour instead and it proved to be a great decision. The beauty of this tour is that unlike other tours there aren't 20-25 people all following a single tour guide around. This tour is a more personal affair as there were only 3 people in my group which made it easy to get around quickly no need to round up the stragglers! and be able to ask questions whenever we wanted to. Our guide on the day was the lovely red-headed girl Tjasa. Tjasa was very knowledgeable about the history of Ljubljana and Slovenia which was great to first-time visitors like ourselves. The great thing about her tour was the impromptu stop-offs to some of the less heralded points of interest i.e. the drinking fountains and also the local shops i.e. those I remember are the shop which sells wooden bow ties and also the brandy shop where we managed to get a free sample!. Ljubljana is a beautiful city which has the castle overlooking the center so it made sense to include entry to the castle as part of the tour. Access to the castle was via the funicular and once at the top Tjasa accompanied us around the main points of interest. Ascending the Viewing Tower is highly recommended as the 360 degree views across the city are stunning with the mountains providing the backdrop. The 2 hours of the tour flew past though once the tour guide leaves, you are free to look at the various exhibitions and have a mealdrinks at your leisure within the castle. All in all highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience on this tour and Alenka had been an excellent guide. She took me to the highlights of Ljubljana. She is rich with stories...fascinating and funny about the city, including the dragon of Ljubljana. Alenka isn't just a tour guide. She had helped me a lot during that time that the airline lost my luggage. She probably knew that I would not enjoy my tour completely until I settled what was bothering me. So before we started our tour, she took me to the shopping malls where I can buy my clothes, toiletries and a cabin luggage. ..with her, it became easy to buy what I needed because she became my translator as well in the store. most people in the store don't speak english And then she called my airline to follow up on my lost luggage. Well, I got my luggage after 3 days when I was already in Vienna. Anyway, I shared her funny stories about the dragons in the dragon bridge with my coworkers when I came back. Alenka made my tour so relaxing, fun and informative. By the way, Ljubljana is worth visiting for.

My tour guide was named Meta and she was absolutely wonderful. She guided me all around Ljubljana and ended at the castle. This was a very informative tour with a very deep history lesson on Ljubljana and Slovenia in general. I had a great time on this tour and recommend it.

Do not hesitate and book this tour immediately! I had Alenka as my guide and she was a wealth of knowledge. I travel a lot and I can state for certain that she was one of the best guides I have ever had. She is engaging, filters the most interesting stories and titbits of this lovely city. Lastly, she is really passionate about her work, you can see that instantly. Observe Ljubljana through her eyes and words and you will be overwhelmed. Thanks Alenka for an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this tour to everybody!

was the only person on this tour! but my guide Meta hope i spelled it right was fantastic so had a lovely personal really in-depth tour she was so passionate about her city and so informative we went to the market square and ate cherries that her Aunt gave us for free as she was working there delicious! this tour was very interesting all the architecture she explained all the bridges the best shopping street to visit the castle is brilliant too so much to see here this is a godsend excursion for anyones first day but Meta was just brilliant thank you Viator
