5-Day Devon and Cornwall Small-Group Tour from London

London, United Kingdom

Leave bustling London behind for five wonderful days in the countryside of southwest England! On this small-group tour from London to the counties of Devon and Cornwall, your guide will tell you interesting historical facts and stories about the area and show you beautiful towns, famous sights and breathtaking landscapes you’ll never forget. Discover the beauty of these two regions – some of England's best – and visit popular attractions like Stonehenge. You’ll see the South Devon coast, Dartmoor, Exeter and, of course, the idyllic county of Cornwall. In a group of less than 16 people, you are sure to enjoy a personalized and valuable experience with your guide.

From London, your five-day Devon and Cornwall tour begins with a relaxing drive through Wessex on your way to the famous stone circle of Stonehenge – your first stop on the tour. On Day 1, you’ll also visit the South Devon coast, where a stunning landscape awaits you, and Exeter, where you’ll stay for two nights in your choice of a three-star bed and breakfast or three-star hotel.

On your second day, visit mystic Dartmoor, where you’ll hear spooky stories from your guide, and Tavistock, a beautiful small town. Spend the afternoon and evening in Exeter.

Day 3 offers the beauty of Cornwall. Visit the civil parish of Launceston, the Bodmin moor, Golitha Falls, St Neats church and Tintagel Castle. End the day in Falmouth, where you’ll stay for two more nights.

On your fourth day, visit the island of St Michaels Mount and beautiful Minack Theatre. Also visit the white sandy beaches of Porthcurno and Penzance. Move on to Land's End, before you head back to Falmouth.

On Day 5, visit Glastonbury with its ancient, mythical connections to King Arthur before returning to London. Return to London in the evening.

Please note: Breakfast is included in your accommodation; you'll have enough free time to enjoy lunch and dinner on your own.

See the Itinerary section below for details on each day.

This is the second time we've done this tour--this time with friends--and it was every bit as good or better than the first time. We were able to do different things at the same stops which expanded our experience. Our guide, June, was wonderful! She was very informative and surprised us with a stop at Port Issac, which we didn't do the first time. Our van mates were all compatible and we left each other as friends at the end of the tour. I can't recommend this tour enough for a good taste of Devon and Cornwall.

This tour is delivered by Rabbies. Great experience in this whistle stop tour. HIghlights for me were the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno, and St. Ives. Wish I could have spent more time in Falmouth. A great introduction to the southwest of England. Excellent driver, commentary, and coach. Pack light, though. It helps getting around!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Hugh from Rabbie's was excellent. He was great about providing the history, enthusiastic about the stories he told, and seemed to care a lot about making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. The timing of this tour in October was also perfect. We had such nice weather and the places we visited were not very busy at least compared to summer. I certainly recommend, this tour, Rabbie's, and Hugh.

Very well planned and organized trip! Tony, our driver / tour guide, was a wealth of information, stories, personality and could even navigate the 2-lane country roads without incident -- my hats off to you! In Tony's words, this trip is a tasting menu of the incredible history of Devon and Cornwall. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and definitely recommend this tour for all who are interested in experiencing southwest England.

Tour was amazing. We truly enjoyed the history and stories that Dave and Nick shared with us. They were very accommodating and helpful throughout the tour. We would highly recommend this tour. Dave and Nick made it fun and interesting. Small group size just adds to the experience.

This trip was wonderful! We pack a lot of territory into five days and our very skilled driver, Geoff /Jeff, made it interesting and fun, and taught us so much history. While it was basically a taste of Devon and Cornwall I'm not sure I would have been able to see this part of England any other way so a little bit was so much better than nothing. We stayed in hotels and our accommodations were good. I would absolutely do a longer trip just like this.

We just loved this tour....our guide Jamie and his trainee John, could not have been more professional, knowledgable, and friendly. Great guys ! The guest houses we stayed at were just the type places we'd hoped for. All of the locations we visited and toured, were well chosen and our guides brought their respective histories to life before and after each visit. Along with pointers about local cuisine, the lore and fun of the trip made it the high light of our month long stay in Europe. We highly recommend this trip.....also, we met some really good folks on this trip from the land down under, and the land nearby ! Great trip !

We certainly enjoyed this tour with our guide/driver Kevin. He was very well organized and handed us a package when we boarded the bus with brochures and maps for all the places we were to visit. Our mini bus 16 people was brand new and very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed all of the places we visited especially Winchester, Boscastle, Tintagel home of King Arthur!!, the beautiful Minack Theatre. We would have preferred to stay at Boscastle or Glastonbury rather than Exeter and would have like to have visited St Michael's Mount instead of viewing it from a distance. That aside we had a wonderful time with very good B and B accommodation in Exeter and Falmouth. We enjoyed driving over the moors at Dartmoor and we saw the prison and the ponies. I would definitely recommend this tour. We have some lovely memories.

The itinerary was not exactly as described - there was no sighting of the Durdle Door as promised and the visit to the island of St. Michaels Mount was actually a brief photo stop at the beach to see the island from a distance was told by the local tour guide it isn't actually part of the itinerary. Apart from that I thought the tour was great value and it certainly is a beautiful part of England to visit. I enjoyed the small size of the group and the flexibility with the time schedule. The staff from Rabbies made the trip fun and I would not hesitate to use Rabbies Trailblazers again.

This was a great tour and it still ran even though I was the only passenger. Kevin was the driver/ guide who had an amazing knowledge of the areas we visited and was exceptional in the way he looked after me - nothing was too much trouble. I appreciated being left to explore places on my own but Kevin always ensured I knew my way back to the bus before he left me. I was also impressed that he went out of his way to locate Gluten Free Cafes for me. The accommodation in the hotels was very good especially Jury's Inn in Exeter.

If you want a taste of the southwest of England, this is the tour for you! This was my 1st time trying out a multi-day group trip, and I was very pleased with it! Our driver Kevin was friendly and made the trip even more enjoyable: In this tour, you get to explore on your own, but also get driven from place to place and told about each town/ site of interest before going off on your own, so a nice mix: My favorite day was when we went to Boscastle, a small fishing village by the Atlantic with amazing cliffside views, and Tintagel castle, the supposed birthplace of King Arthur! The weather was great for Springtime in England, and all the other people on the tour were nice: All in all, definitely a worthwhile tour! Thank you Viator and Rabbies! Definitely using them again for future trips!

Absolutely the best tour ever. Out driver, tour guide was very knowledgable and entertaining. We liked how all the history was told to us on the mini bus before we arrived at the location and when we arrived we were on our own. NO-umbrella guide! Just the best!

Went on this tour in early October. Andy, our guide, was outstanding. He was very friendly, humorous and informative. I was travelling by myself but got to know everyone and enjoyed their company. The scenery was beautiful. Accommodation was great. The tour was better than I had envisioned. I highly recommend this tour.

We were allocated good B and B accommodation, especially in Falmouth. Locations provided easy access for dining and drinking. The areas visited gave a good overview of what was available in the region. The transportation was good and the driver/guide was outstanding. Barney was an entertaining and resourceful character who made the trip a memorable one.

Great guide, great tour. I loved the sites and the minibus was comfortable on the long stretches. The guide did a great job keeping us engaged throughout. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is that the second accommodation was a bit run down. Otherwise excellent.

This was a great way to see many beautiful places. The tour was well organized. The guide was very pleasant. The hotels and bed and breakfasts that were offered were awesome. There was a problem with our first bed and breakfast. The wrong days were booked for us and there was no room. The guide quickly fixed this and we were given a room in a hotel which was fantastic. The small group on the bus was the way to go!

I enjoyed my small-group tour to Devon and Cornwall. The tour was efficiently run, the places we visited were good, the accommodations were good. Our Driver Barney was excellent, funny, courteous, knowledgeable and Tractor Driven inside joke. Take a trip with Barney and you will find out. The other clients were a good group which made all the difference between a good and bad trip we laughed a lot.

Review by:   Sharm,    November 2015 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
It was a fairly good overview of some places in Devon and Cornwall but could have been planned better. St Ives in summer is too crowded and the group felt that it was a waste of 4 hours. The other stops such as Tintagel and the drives through the moors were good. The driver was quite curt but became more helpful after we made a complaint.

My husband and I loved the tour. The hotels were very nice and convenient to walking places. Never felt rushed. We had beautiful weather. Our driver and guide - Barney was very interesting in his commentary and he was lots of fun. We're thinking about going to Scotland with Rabbies maybe next year. We liked the fact that is was a small tour group. Great vacation. Charlene Wertz

We had difficulty finding the embarkation point. It was crowded and no pointers to Rabbies. We hung around and eventually Lord Kevin found us. The tour was up to expectation, the hotels good, especially the one in Exeter. Kevin was an amusing host, I think he took us to a few places not on the itinerary, we were all happy about that. The traffic in and out of London was atrocious, can't imagine what you can do about that._br/_ So, we were happy with the deal. Would have liked more time in Falmouth but you can't have everything.

We really enjoyed this tour. The tour guide Jeff was great . Just wish we could have stayed in places a little longer , the Exeter part of the trip is a little boring , staying longer in Falmouth would have been great and maybe a little more free time , instead of 20 mins an hour or more would have been great. But all in all we had a great time and has made us want to travel again on our own down to Devon and Cornwall.

Everything went smoothly and I enjoyed every part of the trip. Most particularly, I was extremely pleased with our guide, Jeff Cormack, who was very informative, funny, and who made the miles fly with anectodes of particular places along the way. I will recommend the tour to my friends in the US.

Great tour in spite of heavy rain at the start of the first two days. Great driving Geoff and I really appreciated your informative commentary. B and B s were excellent especially the Ivanhoe in Falmouth. So welcoming and helpful. Loved Cornwall. The drive from Lands End to st Ives quite beautiful. The last day was very long, another night would have broken the journey and improved the trip. All in all, an excellent tour, highly recommend it.

Could have been, should have been a good tour, if the air conditioner on the bus had worked properly instead of just blowing hot air around the bus.

Ambrose did a great job managing an eclectic group of people. He used good judgement for our stops and did a good job gauging the interests of the customers. There was a dropping of the ball on someone's part regarding my reservation in Falmouth, but Ambrose sorted it out efficiently. The Falmouth-Cornwall leg of the trip was superior to the Exeter-Devon leg in my opinion. Overall a good experience and plenty of opportunities for exercise and being outdoors.

Super tour! Lots of fun, wonderful tour guides, well planned and orchestrated, fun people, with lots of laughter and by the end of the tour felt as if we were all friends. The places were so exciting to see that there wasn't nearly enough time at each place but on a 5 day tour what else can you do...I highly recommend this tour and if they ever increase it to 7/8 days definitely go for it! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Review by:   dancingkingnqueen,    May 2015 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The mini-bus was driven professionally along narrow winding roads and also London rush hour traffic. The itinerary was good. However, the accommodations did not meet our expectations. The Westcott B and B in Falmouth gave us an attic room on the third floor with a defective toilet and an old-fashioned tub with high sides, difficult to get into and out of. We were told if we wanted to take a shower we could use the one in the hallway on the second floor which was not what we paid for. We were also told that we should have requested a first floor room because we were evidently disabled. We chose to leave the Westcott for another B and B but were forced to pay for it ourselves as well as a taxi, because the Westcott is one of Rabbies' prime accommodations among many better choices in Falmouth, and they did not want to upset the owner. However, for us having a working toilet and shower is absolutely necessary on a trip like this and we feel that more care should be taken in securing places for travelers to stay.

The trip was a whirlwind of delights...from Dorset to Devon to Cornwall and all the places before and after. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this tour as a way to enjoy the English countryside with a super safe driver and excellent running commentary, coupled with helpful kindness along the way. Thank you all.

I would highly urge you to take this tour. Our guide Kevin was great. He told us interesting facts along the way plus gave us plenty of time to explore each site. We saw so much of Devon and Cornwall. It was beautiful. The B and Bs were nice, especially in Exeter. The days just flew by. You will love this tour.
