Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

Discover famous treasures lying in the English countryside on this day trip from London to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath. See England’s tallest spire and an original copy of the ‘Magna Carta’ at Salisbury Cathedral, and admire the famous stone circle at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. Then visit the city of Bath to admire England's finest Georgian architecture and tour the world-famous Roman Baths.

Board a luxury coach in central London in the morning. Pop in your state-of-the-art Vox headphones and listen to your guide’s informative commentary as you begin your day trip into the English countryside.

After a 2-hour drive west, arrive in the beautiful Wiltshire town of Salisbury, world-famous for its 750-year-old cathedral that boasts the tallest spire in England. Enter Salisbury Cathedral to soak up the history and grandeur of one of the leading examples of Early English architecture; don’t miss the church’s chapter house, which displays the best-preserved of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta. Spend two hours perusing the cathedral, exploring the captivating town and having lunch (own expense) at your leisure before boarding the coach and drive to your next destination.
Traveling even further back in time through the rolling Wessex landscape, you will arrive in Stonehenge. Who dragged these massive stones to this lonely plain near Salisbury 5,000 years ago, and why? These questions have haunted the minds of centuries of scholars. You will have the opportunity to walk around these magical stones and contemplate the landscape in which they were erected so many centuries ago.

Re-board the coach for a 30-minute drive to your final stop, Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture. Take a panoramic city tour to see Bath Abbey, the Pulteney Bridge (modeled after the Ponte Vecchio in Florence) and the Circus and Assembly Rooms. These 18th-century structures are considered the greatest examples of Georgian architecture in the United Kingdom.

You’ll also visit the Roman Baths, the best-preserved public baths from the ancient Roman world, beautifully restored during the Victorian era. Learn about the source of these famous hot springs, discover the baths' uses by the Celts and Romans over the centuries, and learn about the redevelopment efforts to keep this stunning ancient treasure alive.

Take some time to explore Bath’s compact pedestrian city center before embarking on the 2.5-hour drive back to London.

Absolutely Amazing!! The day is jammed packed with the three different stops, but you have enough time at each place to see the highlights and the guides really know what they're talking about and provide interesting and enjoyable insights. If you're a history buff I'd definitely recommend this tour as the Salisbury stop includes a visit to view an original copy of the Magna Carter. We loved Bath and will definitely we returning as we found ourselves wishing we had more time to explore the town.

After visiting these sites 40 years ago, we decided to do a return tour with the Viator trip. That was a great move for we had a positive experience seeing these now UNESCO sites anew. The bus was very comfortable, the tour guide, Debbie, extremely knowledgable and energetic in sharing the historical facts and behind the scenes stories which all made for a long but well worth it day. Having done some reading and research made the visits much more meaningful. An amazing area for history buffs. Dolores

The tour guide and driver were wonderful! So informative and friendly. The sites were incredible. The only negative for me was time constraint. Three stops were too much to really take in the sites in more then a superficial way. Traffic was heavy, which is an unpredictable variable. I would choose one or two stops if i had it to do over.

As everyone says, long day BUT wished we could have stayed longer at each site, particularly Bath.

This tour started at Stonehenge, run run, move on to Salisbury..very nice... keep running. Move on to Bath. Swallow your food and run again, must catch bus on time or else. Otherwise, it was a very great trip, definitely worth it! Our tour guide was very nice and wonderful. The company was Evan Evans Tours. It's worth it if you are trying to see a lot in one day, otherwise only do 2 of the 3. _br/_ Just for your information, Victoria Coach Station is a mess, very confusing and disorganized. Make sure to arrive there early. In addition, Viator needs to be more detailed in their description and itinerary of this tour. The website does not mention the location of your pick up and drop off until you purchase the tour. Viator should be more specific on all the details of this trip. I am a details person. I like to know everything before I purchase.

This trip does squeeze in a lot for the time allotted. I would recommend that the tour start at 8:00 Vs 9:00 so you have a little more time at Bath. We went on a Saturday and at Stonehenge the queue to get on the shuttle buses from the Bus stop out to the actual site was a 1/2 wait to board a shuttle bus. Did not leave us enough time to walk the site and listen to the audio guide that was provided. We were 10 minutes late getting on the bus and the guide was somewhat upset with us for holding up the bus. Time allotted for Salisbury Cathedral was fine but would have liked more time in Bath. Very pretty City and very interesting. Would have liked to have more time to wonder the streets. Buses were very clean and guide was friendly and knowledgeable.

We highly recommend this trip. Emily and our driver James were excellent. Efficient and well cared for are two descriptions I would use. The day was long so for those who get tired easily it might be good to just do 2 destinations. And although you get just a short introduction to places we loved it

You must go to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths. Just too much history to ignore. A day well spent and I highly recommend this tour

We didn't go to Stonehenge until noon. Stonehenge was great, but I think if we had done Salisbury in the morning and Bath in the afternoon we may have used out time more efficiently. Our guide Simon and driver Marco were great and provided great information - but it's a lot of terrain to cover in one day. So while we had enough time to enjoy Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury felt rushed. If possible they should do only Bath with Stonehenge so you can have a few hours to explore that cute town... just a suggestion.

Fabulous! Charlotte was a wonderful guide and full of interesting information! You don't spend too long at each destination, but it was perfect for my friend and me. I have taken Viator tours before and am always pleased. I will definitely book tours with Viator in the future! Thank you!

We had only 3 1/2 days to spend in London, and wanted to spend one of those days outside of the city. The schedule for this tour is fast paced, but given our limited time, it was a great way to see a lot in a single day. I recommend this for people who can enjoy see the when time is limited, but for someone who wants to soak everything in, I would suggest picking a tour with only two of the sites.

Coach was convenient and the short visit to Stonehenge was adequate. Otherwise disappointing. Salisbury and Bath are incredible places to visit but the time allowed at both sites was much too short. After a very quick guided tour through the Cathedral we had only 30 minutes until we needed to be back on the bus to Bath. And after a very quick, self-guided tour through the Bath Spas, we had only another 30 minutes to tour the city. Barely enough time to find restrooms, grab a quick bite to eat nevermind explore the area. With a 3 hour bus ride back to Bath, we will not be doing a tour like this again. Much better to arrange your own travel. Highly recommend contacting tour operators directly to find out how much time you could expect to spend at each location before you book. If you just want a tick this off the list visit, then maybe it would be okay.

A bit of a confusing start up at the coach terminal, but once on our way the tour guide and driver were excellent. The information the guide gave us on the way to each place was informative. I wasn't all that interested in Stonehenge but it seems to be on every tour if you want to also visit Bath and other places. It was interesting, but not something I would make a single trip to see. Salisbury, instead, was beautiful and the guide with the two in-house or should that be in-Cathedral guides made the tour just that little bit more special. Bath was the main reason for my tour and it was just as pretty and interesting as I had hoped. The Roman Baths was the focal point of this tour, but we did have time to wander around parts of the city.

I was so looking forward to Bath and was disappointed. I think expectation setting regarding time in the baths would have helped. Bath looks like a spectacular place and feel i saw nothing of the town. Salisbury and Stonehnge were wonderful. I also thought if you pick us up at a spot Royal National, we should be returned to that spot. Shile we are ok with using the tube etc., others seemed less so.

Our tour guide and driver through Evan Evans were fantastic. It was fast paced and I would have liked more time at each location. Maybe just visiting two instead of all three would have been better.

Way too rushed! An extra 30 minutes in each location would make more sense. Tour guide and driver seemed to rush the trip to be back in London earlier.

Great to see but really too rushed. 90 minutess at Bath is considered the lunch break. If you actually look at the museum that leaves no time for lunch. No food allowed on the coach which is understandable however I'd recommend bringing along food that could be eaten at a stop or while walking.

Stonehenge was tereffic. Could have skipped Sailsbury as far as I am concerned or shortend the amount of time spent there. Bath was abig surprise - I really enjoyed this. Wish there was a way we could have visited Sarun site

We had a wonderful day on our tour to Stonehenge, Salisbury and Bath. What a beautiful ride through the English country side. Our tour was booked with Evan Evans tours. Our driver was Tony and our tour guide was Rowen. Tony had a great sense of humor and kept us laughing. He did a remarkable job getting us back to London at the end of the day, as there was an accident and traffic back ups on the highway. He made some good detours and only delayed our return by about a half an hour, keeping us close to schedule. Some great driving on his part. Rowen was very knowledgeable about the places we visited, which was very good, since I didn't have a lot of time to read up on these places before we left. She had a very pleasant personality and you could tell that she really likes her job. I enjoyed the tour very much, it would have been nice if we could have spent more time in all of the places, but it is a lot to do and see in one day. We were gone for almost 11 hours. We did touch on the best highlights of each place. I would definitely book a tour through Viator in the future.

Trip itinerary was excellent. However the guide (can't remember his name) and driver (Mick) didn't seem of the same caliber as we have experienced in the past. While the guide was excellent in sharing information on the tour sites and along the road, I didn't appreciate that he and Mick most often spoke Italian between themselves while on the bus. And Mick was the least welcoming and friendly of any Viatour personnel we have met in the past.

I had long wanted to see Bath, Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge and don't think that there is a better way to do it than go on a tour like this short of, perhaps, hiring a private car, driver and tour guide at much greater cost. However one goes, you expect the guide to be knowledgeable and engaging. But ours, Daniel, was way more than that and just outstanding in every way. He made the experience much richer than it might have been, pointing out so many things another might not have bothered to and one would miss on their own. He was totally engaged the whole time in seeing we got the most possible out of our experience at a pace that was just right to see all three venues in one day without feeling rushed but never just waiting to move on either. The bus was comfortable and always very well driven, with much of the trip on picturesque back roads. My only complaint is one frequently made and that was the difficulty in finding which bus we were to board and where in the terminal we would find it. On the way back, though, Daniel told us what would be the best place for each to get off to go where we were going. All in all, the tour was truly informative and enjoyable.

This was a great tour with 3 really different sites. An excellent combination for one day and not too much travel time from London. Rob (tour guide) and Jimmy (bus driver) were both excellent and Rob has a wealth of knowledge. On time and well organised. No complaints! Thank you!

Our tour guide Sherrie Tomes and driver Barry did a great job overall. Would have liked a little more time at each stop, especially Bath, but it's a lot to fit into one day. The arrangement of picking up tourists at Victoria Station could be improved on. The space is very tight and the majority of passengers aren't quite sure where to wait, what to watch/listen for. If your tour guides had a megaphone that might improve corralling the passengers. We weren't overly delayed, so I guess the system works at the end of the day. Look forward to seeing many more sights thru Viator whenever I get around to visiting the UK again. Thanks!

Loved this tour and would recommend to anyone. Our tour leader was full of facts and very interesting. He led the tour well and (with only a small number on the tour this day) it was easy to follow along. Stonehenge was a highlight but loved Bath and hubby was delighted to be able to view the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral. Our nine year old loved it to so appeals to all ages.
