Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

Discover Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath on this day trip from London. Leave the city behind you and travel by air-conditioned coach to Windsor Castle, home of the British Royal Family for the last 900 years. Visit St George's Chapel and the State Apartments with your tour guide before traveling out to Salisbury, where the ancient rock formations of Stonehenge await. Continue on to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, visit the Roman Baths and enjoy a panoramic tour with your guide before returning to London.

Depart from London and travel out of the city in your air-conditioned coach toward the majestic Windsor Castle. Home of the British Royal Family for 900 years, Windsor is the world's largest and oldest occupied castle and widely considered one of England’s finest. Explore the lavishly-decorated State Apartments and St George's Chapel with your guide and hear of the castle’s fascinating history and heritage.

Continue on through the rolling green Wiltshire landscape to Stonehenge, a collection of stones dragged to this lonely plain near Salisbury 5,000 years ago. This ancient stone circle is still a place of strong spiritual significance, and continues to capture the imagination of the many visitors it welcomes each year. Why the stones were placed here and what purpose they served remains a mystery though, so wander around the site at your leisure and decide for yourself why these age-old rocks have found themselves here. Take a look around the visitors’ center and learn the history of this ancient, mysterious site.

Next, hop back in your coach and continue onward to Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture and widely considered one of England’s prettiest cities. Follow your guide on a panoramic tour of Bath and be enchanted by the town's beautiful streets and alleyways, capturing the sites on camera as you go. You'll see Bath Abbey and the much-photographed Pulteney Bridge, modeled on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. During the tour, visit the city’s famous Roman Baths — the best preserved Roman spa from the ancient world.

At the end of your time in Bath, travel back to London’s Victoria Coach Station where your day trip concludes.

What made this tour so memorable was our tour guide, Phil. His passion and knowledge for history and his native country truly impressed me and made the coach travel so much more enjoyable. Without Phil, I cannot imagine this tour being nearly as entertaining as it was.

Good tour but not enough available time at Windsor Castle...large que there took a while to get thru which ate into touring time considerably. Maybe leaving 30 mins earlier would help? Tour guide Kevin Hand was very knowledgable with info when on the tour bus, but you're pretty much on your own when you get to each attraction.

We wanted to see it all on a day trip out of London but in the end it was too much bus time about 7 hours and not enough site-seeing time about 4 hours for us. Not a reflection on the tour company, driver or guide which were all very good. We took multiple tours through Viator over our 15 night European trip to Munich, Paris and London. This was the only one we wouldn't do again.

Wonderful day trip from London, and relaxing as well. Really enjoyed this. We were a family of 5 me, hubby, 3 teenagers on a London vacation from the US Illinois. Coach station where we met was a little difficult to find but we allowed extra time to get lost, but that is more of an FYI to the traveler, and not a negative to Evan Evans. Our first stop was to Windsor, which took about an hour on the bus. Our guide was Andy, and he was knowledgeable about London, and his passion for London is evident. They pass out little audio guides and ear buds so Andy can give us verbal instructions and information when we're in a group outside. I thought the time at Windsor was ample, and Andy gives you very detailed instructions on timing and even advice. Do follow instructions. Since we arrived at Windsor before it opened, there were not many people there yet, and we were one of the first groups allowed in. Once we departed to go meet our coach, I was surprised at how many more people showed up that were milling around Heads up here, got a little nervous about the changing of the guard situation. They closed the gates earlier than the time given, so we were locked in, as they do not open the gates for anyone. Fortunately, they only close them when the guard comes in, then they reopen it. Would have liked to have seen the actual changing, but we had a bus to run to. So do plan to get out earlier than they tell you. Do allow yourself extra time to get to you re-grouping time/spot. It was then about a 2 hour ride to Bath, and the scenery was green and lush and beautiful. Bath was a beautiful city, and since we opted to do the Roman Baths tour, that did not leave us time to explore the city, so do need to decide what you want there. I'll just have to take a trip back there, not a bad thing. Also, Andy was very specific about the meeting spot and time in Bath, as they the city does have strict stopping rules in Bath so do be sure to get back to the coach early as directed by your guide. It was then about another 90 minutes or so to Stonehenge. Plenty of time to roam around there and take pictures, and we even had time to grab a bite to eat at the Stonehenge visitor center cafe. We had a backpack that we brought along to have jackets/unbrellas, etc on hand. This we could leave on the bus. However, take your valuables - things you don't want to be without, with you at all times. Yes, this was a long day, but plenty of time on the bus to relax in between stops. The WiFi on the bus didn't work very well, but that's not really a complaint, just listen to the guide talk, look at the beautiful scenery, nap, read, whatever. For this trip, our driver was Lorry. Kudos to Lorry, as it takes driving talent to get in and out of Bath, as well as in Bath ! If you have any concerns or questions about this trip or need further details, do reach out to Evan Evans ahead of time. I feel like some of the reviews are unfair to Evan Evans there are things that happen out of their control. I don't have a lot of international experience traveling, and this was my first official coach tour on a trip, and I was very pleased with how the logistics of this tour went. Also, Andy our guide was very responsive to questions as well.

Tour left an hour late.. the organizers were very unorganized. The tour was rushed and I believe it's because we left so late. The attractions were amazing, but I was disappointed.

What a wonderful day our group had on this tour. Visiting Windsor Castle a few days before the Royal Wedding was so extra special...it had such an awesome feel to it and getting to see the actual place the wedding was going to take place was amazing. Bath was spectacular and the Roman Baths were so awe-inspiring...the history is indescribable. Stonehenge was just as mind blowing. Truly unbelievable. _br/_ Our driver Graham was entertaining however our guide Oliver although knowledgeable and likeable came across at times as insulting. In the words of one of my travelling party companions: 'Insults do not equal being cheeky thanks Oliver!!' I will add that a few people on this tour didn't seem to understand the enormity of the day and how long the day would be, but I believe that is a failure on their part and not on the booking process. Our party fully understood this was going to be a very long day...but it was so worth it. A small bit of advice...you get very little time to enjoy the wider offerings of each place, however, this tour is designed to give you the briefest yet comprehensive overview of each highlight..and it succeeds admirably in giving you this. If you wish to spend more time in each place...book another tour. Overall I would certainly recommend this tour...great value for money!

I loved this trip. While the trip leaves very early, it is very much worth it. I did not feel rushed at any of the three stops. The drives between each location were bearable, a good opportunity for naps. I got to see Windsor Castle exactly one week before the royal wedding, which was an incredible experience. The Roman Baths were stunning, and there was also enough time to look through the church and grab an ice cream! The weather was perfect for Stonehenge. There is not much to look at honestly, just some really cool rocks. As a result, I cannot understand who would need more than 45 minutes there. Overall, a great trip.

This was a great tour if you are short on time and want to take in as much as possible in a day. From the beginning the tour guide mentioned that the only complaint that people have is that there isn't enough time - which is true. There is a bit of driving the longest was about a 2 hour drive but the guide filled the long distance with great commentary.

When we booked this tour, I was afraid it would be a tiring day, but there was enough time to rest in between stops. The tour was highly worthwhile. We began at Windsor Castle, where unfortunately we did not have enough time to visit Queen Mary's dollhouse. The castle and St. George's chapel were beautiful. Next stop was Bath, site of the Roman baths, the stunning Bath Abbey right next to the Roman Baths. and a delightful village where there were plenty of small shops where we were able to purchase a quick and delicious lunch. We didn't have time to indulge in the local ice cream, but there were many shops along our walking route. Our final stop was Stonehenge where we had ample time to visit the site and visitor's center. We were dropped off near the Victoria and Albert Museum in the early evening. Our tour guide was EXCELLENT ---very personable, informative and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed the tour but wish it had included only Windsor Castle and Stonehenge. There really wasn't enough time to see all three attractions. If I did it again I would never try to do 3 attractions in one day. We hardly had time to see Windsor Castle with all the time we had to wait in line. Maybe a skip the line tour would have been better. Our guide was very good and we enjoyed her stories and information but again it was too much for one day. I would eliminate Bath which we didn't find as interesting.

The sites are nice but you barely have time to really enjoy or even explore each place. They cramp to many sites for the allocated time since is a bit far. More Time on road that at sites. Also on the 25th of November our lady guide who unfortunately can remember her name really had no People or Group management skills, Rude, Sarcastic and unorganized. The Driver Michael Angelo was Great.

Highly recommend this day trip from Evan Evans Tours and our guide Mark Watterston and driver Michelangelo. The guide had interesting anecdotes, was fluently bilingual and kept the group timing on track. Windsor Castle was beautiful and the town looked quite interesting as well. Could easily have spent a full day there alone but quite excited to see Stonehenge for the first time. The museum in Bath was interesting and our guide hustled us in quickly to maximize free time for the Christmas Market. The Bath Christmas Market had a wide variety of locally made goods, food and drink. Wonderful day. A word of caution for summer travelers, entry lines during peak season are much longer so it may be better to break the outings into more than one day during summer to have enough time to experience each place.

This was a wonderful full day. Our tour guide was great and gave us so much information and was so pleasant. I'm so glad we saw the changing of the guard at Windsor Castle and went into the chapel. The guide didn't take us there, but he did caution us in advance that we should move at a good pace through the castle so we would not be rushed in the end. Very good advice._br/_ Stonehenge is so far from public transit and I suggest that you take a Viator trip if you want to go. It is well organized and well timed._br/_ We saw the Roman bath in Bath. That's what we came to see. I certainly got my money's worth on this day.

This tour was the highlight of my entire trip. Although I went mostly for Windsor Castle and Stonehenge, which were amazing, the biggest surprise was Bath... the town itself was beautiful and the Roman bath's themselves were so much more than I had expected. Its a long day, but the tour moves at a good pace where you feel engaged all day. Couldn't recommend this tour enough!

We enjoyed Stonehenge but not the Windsor castle leg of the tour. The tour leader was unmindful of the rest of the tour group, just talking to herself and whoever maybe immediately in front of her.Too bad if you cannot catch up.Stonehenge and Bath made up for the total picture.

Mark was our tour guide as was our bus driver and they were both professional and witty, especially Mark our tour guide. We were amazed that Mark spoke fluent Japanese, as we had a number of Japanese personnel on the tour, and he had to split his conversations into the two languages. The tour was long, lasting from 9 am to past 7 pm, counting the bus rides. Still, with a 13-year boy and my wife, we all felt like the day went by quickly. We saw Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath. There was ample time at all the locations, with breaks for food, restrooms, wandering about a bit, or relaxing. I highly recommend this tour for those wishing to see the sights outside of London. We went on a Sunday, which was fortunate, as there wasn't much traffic getting out of the city or back in. We also went in mid-November and Mark stated that in the summer the lines for Windsor Castle can be very long. The weather was good too, if not a bit cold.

I cant recommend highly enough the Windsor Castle/Stonehenge/Bath tour! The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the historic sites we visited but about the country itself. It really put things in perspective for us. The audio guides were education and interesting. We even had beautiful weather. It was a perfect tour and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Absolute worst tour I've ever taken. The buses have no leg room, so if you're tall you'll be miserable. The guide could have cared less about the tour and clearly didn't want to be there...not to mention she could use a good hair washing. Do yourself a favor and take The English Bus instead.
