Karnak Sound and Light Show with Private Transport

Luxor, Egypt

Experience the beauty of the Temples of Karnak illuminated against the darkness of night as the pharaohs of the New Kingdom take you on a journey into Ancient Egypt during your stay in Luxor.

Depart for the Sound and Light Show at Karnak from your Luxor hotel of cruise ship for en evening of entertainment Egyptian style! The show begins as you walk along the Avenue of Sphinx, passing through the towering facade into the Great Court. Walking through the complex a booming Pharaoh's voice narrates the history of Upper Egypt and the New Kingdom as the various additions left by rulers such as King Tutankhamun, Ramses II and Queen Hatshepsut are illuminated against the night sky.

The second part of the Sound and Light Show at Karnak finds you seated overlooking the sacred lake as the complex is illuminated and the story of Egypt continues. Please note, while the show is suitable for all ages, the complex is very dark and commentary loud which younger children may find frightening. The ground in and around Karnak is uneven and sandy, please where comfortable, flat walking shoes.

This night time experience was so much fun.

The sound and light show is cool, it's hard to hear in some areas of Karnak but overall good. Through viator you get a tour guide and driver which isn't entirely necessary since all the tour guide does is escort you from the entrance and receive you at the hotel. If you're comfortable taking a taxi and buying your own tickets, I'd recommend that way.

The guide offered no value at all to our trip. He didn't speak to us other than pure formalities it's here and We'l meet back here. The trip would have been considerably easier and cheaper to have organised from the hotel and I felt very disappointed

The show started a bit earlier than the announced time but it was good, needs a bit more improvement but it was good and I am glad we attended

I recommend going by night and day. If I had the chance I will go again as it is endless what you can discover . Viator 's guide - Yula was the key to unlocking the secrets and making meaning of the visual aspects to the complex history. I had such a deeper appreciation because of their guide.

Brilliant, much improved light show, better visuals and better sound system.

A very good show . Probably the better of the three we saw.

Very good. We were collected from the hotel at the agreed time and escorted to the entrance of the Karnak Temple. The tickets had already been arranged so there was no waiting. The sound and light show is very professional and give a different perspective to the site than a daytime visit. I highly recommend it.

While the tour was excellent I do not recommend doing the day and night tour the same day. I would suggest doing the night tour first then the day tour. But both are worthwhile experiences.

I recommend the show, the temples partially illuminated at night look amazing. If you're staying on the East Bank which you probably will, I think it's better to go by yourself, the tickets are sold in Karnak, you can buy them early that day, just try to bargain a taxi or a carriage, you find them anywhere in the city.

It was interesting as we had been at the temple before and it was a good way to end our stay.

The operators are excellent. The local contact- had left a message for us at our hotel when we arrived- with his contact details and pick up times. He was there with the driver to collect us- he took us right to the entrance with our tickets and was outside waiting for us when the show finished. Excellent faultless service

Very punctual and well organised. The show itself is a little unimaginative.

Really good to see the temple at night as well as doing the day tour. Make sure you wrap up well as it was really cold at night when we were there in December. All the trips we did through this company were excellent.

Worth every penny - we visited Karnak in the day - but it is completely different at night - visit day and night - it's a must.

Much better than the pyramid light show as this light show brings you slowly through the temple as the show progresses.

Review by:   Dawn H,    October 2008 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The night we went was so hot 35C which made it uncomfortable. Make sure you get to the front to appreciate all the lights.

The Sound and Light Show at Karnak is a definite must-do if staying in Luxor. It is a fantastic experience, which was made even better by the service we received from Viator. We were picked up at our hotel, and tickets were already bought and paid for, so we just went straight in and enjoyed the show. After the performance, our guide and driver were waiting to take us back to the hotel - totally hassle-free.

The tour company was super friendly and very customer oriented. Picked us up on time and were waiting for us when we were done. The show itself was kind of boring. Not sure if I was just exhausted from the trip but towards the end I literally fell asleep. The Karnak Temple though is VERY impressive. The show could definitely be shorter.

Went back the next day to actually see the temple and take more time taking it all in. The show was a bit overrated.

The first half of the show was great, walking through the temple at night with the history being told was great, but the second half was a bit dull and could have been about 20 minutes shorter. Worth doing though just to see Karnak lit up at night.
