Jerez and Cadiz Day Trip from Costa del Sol with Winery Tour, Andalusian Horse Show and Sightseeing

Malaga, Spain

Experience the traditions of southern Spain on this day trip to Jerez and Cadiz from Costa del Sol and central Malaga. With an expert guide at your side, visit a prestigious local winery to enjoy a wine tasting and an exhilarating equestrian show featuring Andalusian horses. Then, soak up views of the verdant Andalusian countryside, before cruising along the breathtaking Cadiz coast by ferry. Finish your tour with a tour of Cadiz city center and free time to explore or recharge with some tantalizing traditional cuisine.

Meet your guide in central Malaga or Costa del Sol and travel by air-conditioned coach to Jerez de La Frontera. Drive along the famous Bull Route (Ruta del Toro), a route that owes its name to the area’s numerous cattle farms, where bulls roam freely.

On arrival in Jerez, your first stop is the Williams and Humbert winery, one of the most prestigious wineries in the region. Listen as one of the winery staff guides you through the winery and explains the making and ageing of the wine. Enjoy a sample of three types of wine, accompanied with a snack.

Then, watch an exciting Andalusian horse show that the winery organizes on its own exhibition tracks. Be enchanted by the horse breaker and his magnificent taming of the Andalusian horse, who will perform a beautiful dance.

After the show, relax on your coach and hear interesting stories about the region from your guide as you take in views of the Jerez countryside on the way to Puerto de Santa María, a lovely city in the province of Cadiz. Here, board a local ferry for a sightseeing cruise along the Bay of Cadiz. Relax and admire the pristine beaches and beautiful coast from the deck.

Disembark at the port and stroll around the city center. See the famous Puertas de Tierra monument and the 18th-century Cadiz Cathedral. Following your walking tour, enjoy two hours of free time to explore the city or recharge at a local restaurant with some traditional Andalusian food (own expense).

Reunite with your guide and enjoy a panoramic sightseeing coach tour of Cadiz before returning to Costa del Sol.

We really enjoyed the winery and horse show in Jerez. Rain and strong winds were a problem in Cadiz so the boat trip was cancelled but we would highly recommend climbing the cathedral tower for the view of the city.

This tour was excellent. I recommend it to everybody.

A full coach which meant that along with other visiting groups to the winery, the guide could not be heard. No mic system or person P/A system which you get in cathedrals would have been better. Apart from that, a great trip, especially the ferry trip across the bay. I wish we had more time in Cadiz, so would have been happy to miss the Andalusian horse display.

liked this tour, though I thought we would have been tasting wine instead of sherry. We came from Malaga so a lot of our time wasted with pick ups long the way. though the company did do well to reduce this. Our guide David and Bus driver Rapheal were brilliant

Excellent trip which was well planned interesting and ran smoothly. Tour guide and bus driver were really nice guys. Enjoyed by whole family. Our tour party was only 30 so plenty of room on coach and not many pick ups. Good value trip.

Brilliant day sight seeing learning about the wines and how they are made. Beautiful horses too.

DONT TAKE THIS TOUR FROM MALAGA unless you want to spend 10 hours in the coach and 4 hours at the activities 14 hour day from Malaga. Have to fill the coach with loads of individual pick up/drop off for Benalmedena, Torremelinos, Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola. Guide Elisabeth and driver very good. You have to listen to everything in 4 languages. The horses are the highlght of the day_br/_ Would not recommend due to the amount of time on the coach which could be improved by one pick up point in each place rather than individual pick up points within each resort on the route - with Malaga being the worst as furthest away and no individual pick up points from Malaga.

Unfortunately the weather was bad so we were unable to take the cruise, no compensation was made for this, perhaps the Cathedral tour charge could have been included instead. At the horse show my seat was directly behind a wide pole and I was unable to see a great deal of the show very disappointing! I was not the only one behind poles in the arena. The panoramic city tour took us quickly through the city without any stops for photos. People on the right side of the bus missed so much. The quide was very informative, the driver was excellent. We have taken many viator tours in Spain that were very good so were disappointed in the quality of this tour.

If you want a winery tour then book one. If you want to see good dressage and learn the history of the Andalusia horse go to the Spanish Riding school. If you want a 16 hour day on a coach with stops at dirty truck stops pick this one. Sorry I didn't read the tour description more closely, although even at that there is lot the tour operator could do to I prove this. Firstly get a guide who does more than announce departure times in 5 languages and flirt with the young women on the tour. Not history on any of the areas we passed though. Second answer your emails. I asked repeatedly to directions or a map to the bus stop I had to wait at at 6:30am to ensure I was at the correct location and never got a response. Viator helped. Tour operator useless.

Everything was interesting and well-timed but from Malaga, there just isn't much time to do all this in one day very well. April appears to be an extremely busy time and lots of tourists are there. At the Jerez winery, there were so many groups it was difficult to hear the speaker because of all the echo. Delicious sherry but the horse show was not that great sorry to the performers and the horses and we had to rush to get to the ferry for Cadiz. The guide was great and made the trip enjoyable just to listen and talk to him. Not sure how you could go on your own and spend more than a few hours but this trip could easily be 1.5 to 2 days.

This was a really long day leaving at 7am and not returning until 9pm. Even so the trip was good, lots to see and do and still time for a late lunch at Cadiz

By making small alterations to the tour in could be improved greatly. Got the impression that the main purpose of the tour was to get you to buy from which the guide was getting a kick back.

Wish we had more time in Cadiz, it is a marvellous city. Our guide Rossy spoke very bad English, so I could get the infos from the other languages like French, Spanish and Italian. Although I do not speak French and Spanish. Otherwise, she was a lovely lady. May be that's why the following day I could not tolerate the horrible treatment on the Tanger day trip.

Tour was OK but a bit rushed._br/_ I am tall and there was not enough room in the coach for my legs._br/_ Tour Guide was very pleasant but she talked none stop the entire journey. It was so loud that even ear phones and listening to music did not help. Please give the poor passengers a rest from that voice.

My only complaint was communication on pick-up time and communication as to where I was to be picked up. After an almost sleepless night I did get picked up by chance. Mini-bus driver was standing outside our hotel and my husband spotted him as asked if he was from Viator. My husband was then told that I had exactly 2 minutes to be downstairs and on mini-van.

As other reviewers have said, this was a LONG Day. In our case the weather was rainy so our drive to Jerez did not have the best of scenery due to low clouds. We were disappointed that although we had a sherry tasting and a short horse show there was not time for a tour of the Williams and Humbert facility. We did not get an explanation of why. Weather did clear a bit and the ferry ride with a view of Cadiz from the water was interesting. No information about what we were seeing on the ferry was given. After we walked with the guide to the center of the old city we were left on our own to look around in Cadiz. A map and suggested sights to see would have been very helpful. For us, this tour involved too much time in the bus and not enough time and explanation of what we saw. We probably would not suggest it for others.

TIRESOME.-ESPECIALLY FOR GETTING THE PEOPLE ON THE BUS. ALONG THE WAY-BESIDES AN ENORMOUS BUS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON NARROW STREETS.-However it would have been nice to visit JEREZ as well .-

I really enjoyed this trip. Jerez involved a stop at the Bodega- I thought it was interesting. The Andalusian horse show is at the bodega- not the school! A few people were upset about that. It was a long day. The pick up was on time. The drop off was ill planned. We had to switch buses to be dropped off at our hotels. Again, a few people were upset about that. Cadiz is OK. All in all, I certainly would not waste my time or money to go on this trip again.

I enjoyed the tour to Cadiz and the winery tour was alright. _br/_ The tour guides dropped me off back to malaga and spoke in several languages in the bus.

This tour was alright if you did not mind spending 15 hours on a bus 4 of which were pick up and drop off_br/_ it would have been good to have a walking tour of Cadiz instead of sitting on the bus had very little time _br/_ to see the old city

A jam packed day of sightseeing. The tour of the sherry distillery was very interesting and the horse show amazing (although wish it could have been longer). The boat ride over to Cadiz takes in some of the industrial sites of the area. There's not much to do in Cadiz apart from browse the shops and have lunch, but the coach tour round the town afterwards was interesting. The scenery during the whole trip was breathtaking. Full marks to all the guides for being so multilingual. The only critisism I have is that they switch languages so seamlessly you end up listening to the whole narration, even if not in your own language - this can get very tiring, and then you end up missing a sentence or two in your own language. It would also save time during the tour of Williams and Humberts if there was only one language group - there's so much information to take in that the trip takes double the time if the guide covers two languages, and then it becomes rushed and the tasting and shopping is curtailed. The only other downside is that if you join the tour from the east of the country (Torremolinos, as I did), it can take 2 hours to complete the pick ups - it can get quite tedious (and there was a coach swap on my trip too); however, the coach was very comfortable and the scenery gorgeous. The highlight has to be the horse show.

This was the only option to get from Malaga to Cadiz and back for one day. It is available only once per week. The Jerez experience while a first class was a clear bonus for me. The guide was very entertaining and spoke three foreign languages, pretty fluently by the way. Given the long distance to be covered, everything was quite well planned and there was lunch possibilities for those interested (as well as short breakfast and late afternoon break). Pricing seems very competitive.

We had a great guide. She pointed out the bulls running in the fields and the history and culture surrounding them. The tour of the sherry factory was very interesting. The horse show was a nice piece of culture. We did not see much else in Jerez, but the boat ride was pleasant. We could have used more time in Cadiz. We really had time for lunch and an hour to walk around the old town. It had lots of narrow streets intersecting at odd angles. We had a good bus tour of the rest of Cadiz so it is an interesting city. I enjoyed where we had our out and returngoing and returning rest stop, very Spanish and fun to watch the people.

I do not reccomend this trip to anyone! For me, the guided tour doesn't mean that we arrive in Cadiz and have two hours free time! In addition, the bus was as cold as a refrigerator.

Was a very long day as we were based in Malaga so were picked up at 6.40am , returning after 9pm.We're disappointed to only have a 5 minute drive around Jerez . This was not obvious from the itinerary and should be in the publicity for the tour.the sherry tasting was good although you only get a 15 minute horse show with one guy and one horse. This is at the bodega. Boat trip to Cadiz was fine although there wasn't much at the lunch stop, Puerto Santa Maria,as you are dropped there at siesta time. Cadiz is beautiful and well worth the long day. However our big disappointment was the guide. His information was limited, instructions unclear and ability to communicate effectively with his clients disappointing. (This was not down to his language skills but his attitude) .He was just going through the motions and did nothing to make us want to book with this company again. We felt we knew more about the area than he did but wanted to know so much more of the rich history of the region , hence the decision to take the trip initially. The publicity material needs to mention the possible length of day, whistle stop drive around Jerez and actual nature of the horse display.

This was overall a very enjoyable trip. The guide was very good and was punctual and all ran smoothly. The winery and horse show were excellent - a good balance and the wine guide gave enough detiail to remain interesting rather than being too technical. We had however a very long day picked up in Malaga at 6.40 back at 10pm. We would have liked hotel pick up but overall very memorable.

We spend more time on the bus picking up people and dropping them off ,we got picked up from Torremolinos at 7:05 am and were dropped off 9;30 pm. My advice if you are staying in Torremolinos don't go .

Jerez and Cadiz is beautiful!! The excursion itself was really nice. The guide didn't say too many things of the sights, almost nothing (!) during the whole excursion. We had the accommodation in Málaga and they picked up us first in the morning. Then we were driving through the coast picking up everybody, stopping at every corner. On the whole, the journey to Cadiz took 4 hours, and back 4 hours again! We had to get up early and we were the last who left the bus at 8:30 in the evening. It was horrible!!! 8 hours only on the bus. I wouldn't go again because of this.
