Mallorca in One Day Sightseeing Tour with Boat Ride and Vintage Train

Mallorca, Spain

Discover the beauty of Mallorca on a full-day sightseeing tour around the western part of the island. Drive along the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Serra de Tramuntana and then cruise along Mallorca’s breathtaking western coastline on a boat ride from La Calobra. Enjoy free time at the popular coastal village of Port Soller, where you can wander around and have lunch. Board the local tram to Soller and explore the village with your guide. Then relax on a vintage wooden train and take in views of Soller Valley's agricultural fields on your way to Son Reus.

When you are on Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, head out on this guided sightseeing day trip to discover the beauty of the island. Get comfortable aboard an air-conditioned coach and while your guide explains interesting facts about the island, enjoy spectacular views of the Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed mountain range.

Admire breathtaking views of the rock formations on the west coast of Mallorca as you head down a windy road to La Calobra. Here, have free time to explore the village, grab a snack in one of the small cafes around the port (own expense) or relax by the beach.

Next, board a boat for your boat ride to Port Soller. During the 40-minute trip, and see how the high cliffs, rock formations and the blue and green colors of the water create a wonderful scene. When you arrive in Port Soller, if the time allows it enjoy free time to wander around the beautiful village, visit the historical port and have lunch (own expense) at one of the numerous restaurants while viewing the backdrop scenery of the Tramuntana.

Continue your tour with a short trip on a tram to the village of Soller, located 1.8 miles (3 km) inland from Port Soller. When you arrive, follow your guide on a short walking tour around the village, and then board a wooden carriage train to Son Reus, on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca. Relax on the vintage train and enjoy the views of olive trees, farms and the Soller Valley on the way; it’s a train journey that has remained almost intact since the train's first journey in the 1910s.

When you get off the train at Son Reus, board your vehicle and enjoy the green landscape on the drive back to your hotel.

The trip was a really fantastic way to see the mountains of Mallorca! We were given a bit of time to explore in La Calobra and Port de Soller, which are beautiful parts of the island. During the stop in La Calobra, make sure to take a walk to Torrent de Pareis. You can take beautiful pictures there. The only thing I would change is to have a bit of time to explore the town of Soller in between the tram from the Port and the train back to Palma. I also wish there was one or two other stops during the drive down the mountain for photo opportunities. I would definitely recommend that you bring a lunch if you are going on this trip because the food in La Calobra where we were given time for lunch was very expensive! Overall, our tour guide was great and knew a lot about the island. We had a really great time.

The seats for tram in Soller were not guaranteed and many were squeezed in the space between two cars. Out of order as other tour groups or individual tourists jump the queue.

Itinerary had to be amended due to bad weather and the pass being closed due to snow! However, Pepe, the guide rearranged and we went to Valdemossa which is lovely.Still managed a boat trip which was choppy_br/_ The tram and train rides had fabulous views

I'm shocked this tour got such good reviews. This was the worst tour of our lives! If you want to be in transit all day then you can take this tour. You spend 80 of this trip either on a bus, train, boat, and more train!

Wow! What a wonderful and fun filled day! Everything, the bus ride, boat ride, tram and train ride, were informative and timely. It's a beautiful area and the guide did an excellent job of giving the history and culture of the area.

A great day was had by myself and my husband. Catalina, our guide, was fabulous and very entertaining, as well as knowledgeable. Our driver Fernando was excellent given some of the bends he had to endure in the mountains._br/_ I would highly recommend this trip and the excursion company No Frills Excursions. Would definitely use again.

We had difficulty finding the tour company bus because there were no markings written on it, and our ship was assigned to a different pier than usual. The guide was good, but we were not given an overview of the day. We enjoyed the variety of the day and the beauty of the interior of Mallorca.

This could have been a great tour. After a short bus ride from our hotel near Palma, the train and tram ride to Soller was fun, on old rolling stock with wooden carriages, through some spectacular scenery. Soller and its port looked well worth exploring but unfortunately we were ushered straight onto a boat taking us round the coast to Colabra. The boat trip itself was also very pleasant with great views of the rocky cliffs and caves of the coast.. Colabra itself has a lovely sandy bay and a nearby waterfall reached by a 10 minute walk from the landing point and would be a good half hour stop. Unfortunately this was where we were given 2 hours for lunch, with a choice of about four almost identical self service restaurants a bit reminiscent of the sort of place common in communist era Eastern Europe, with quality and variety of food to match, which reinforced the regret at having been whisked withoutstopping through Port Soller, with its wide choice of proper restaurants and shops spread around its beautiful horseshoe bay. After lunch, the bus continued up a mountainous switch back road with endless hair pin bends very impressively handled by the driver, and then a short drive to Inca and a half hour stop for a shopping opportunity for leather goods, the local speciality, in a large factory shop type outlet, and then a drive back to our hotels. The choice of lunch stop spoilt the tour. The guide also spoke loudly non-stop from start to finish of the bus trip, repeating everything in Spanish, Italian, German, French and English, which became headache-inducing.

I could go on and on about this day, let's just say don't miss this tour. So relaxing, scenic with unforgettable beauty. There are not too many ways better than this to spend a day.......anywhere! Thank you, Jim and Grace Lachman

It was fantastic from beginning to end! our guide was very informative and we visited most of the island. loved going from bus to ancient train to tram to boat and back to bus. beautiful countryside and loved our lunch stop via boat . couldn't believe the mountains and was thankful we were on a tour and not trying to drive the roads on our own. would highly recommend this as the tour to take if you have never been to mallorca !!!

The tour was good, our guide Joseph was a very good language speaker - I think the tour and instructions were repeated in 4 or five languages! It was a very hot long day and the best bit for us was the trip up in the mountains, the views were lovely. The bay was pretty, the boat trip average. Port Soller was pretty. The tram and train ride were good too. My only comment would be that we did not get picked up from our hotel as per the advert of this trip, but you only get advised of this once you have paid your money. We had to get a taxi to our pick-up point which was also changed at late notice. You then get taken to Palma where you had to change coach again and the same when you returned to the outskirts of Palma on the train. 2 buses to get back to the original pick up point then a walk to the taxi rank to get back to the hotel

Great tour overall and tour guide Sebastian was awesome! Interesting and beautiful scenery. Fun to take the tram, train and boat as well as the bus. Enjoyed the 2 hour stop to enjoy the beach and eat. The only complaint was we booked an English speaking tour and the guide actually gave the tour in three different languages - English, French and German - so it was constant narration while on the bus in the three different languages. Amazing that the guide could do it, but gave me a bit of a headache. Recommendation that you check ahead of time to ensure it is in only one language or two at the most. Three was too much!

Things I liked:_br/_ 1. The places we visited in the mountain were breathtaking._br/_ 2. The bus was very nice. It wasn't full, so you are able to sit all by yourself. There were a lot of steer curves, but driver is very experienced._br/_ 3. The tour guide was perfect. Only downsize is that she was repeating the same things in 4 languages._br/_ 4. The trip was very organized and we were informed several times about what is going to happen next._br/_ 5. There was enough free time, so you did not need to hurry._br/_ Things I did not like_br/_ 1. It was difficult to find the correct bus to board._br/_ 2. The stop to Inca and the leather shop according to my opinion was a waist of time._br/_ 3. The tram was overcrowded._br/_ Tips:_br/_ Don't go if you are afraid of heights. Also bear in mind that most of the trip you will spend traveling.

Booked tour with viator but never saw their name again. Must have partnerships with other tour companies. So confusing finding correct bus to board at bus terminal. Thought I signed up for English speaking tour but once it started realized tour guide spoke four languages and repeated everything she said four times so everyone on the bus understood. So she never stopped talking and that became annoying. Not her fault. She was an excellent tour guide.

If you have the time to do just one tour this has to be it ! Sebastian and Alexander as guide and driver were outstanding. The scenery breathtaking, really, truly breathtaking. The opportunities for photos etc. , amazing. The seatrip past the limestone sea cliffs great to experience as was the ride on the tram and train. Great day out, don't miss it!

I should start my review with a disclaimer: if there hadn't been rain then our enjoyment would have been greater, but anyway:_br/_ Problems directly relating to the tour service_br/_ As mentioned it rained. Hard. Spain isn't really made for rain, therefore where we waited for our coach there was no cover. We were drenched through. The bus company COMAS: they have almost every bus turning up at this one pick-up point location, so I had to approach all of them to check it was our bus - maybe provide the bus number next time? The coach turned up over twenty minutes late. A terrible start. I wish it had never turned up._br/_ I dont know why they advertise selected hotel pick up point locations. That is not an option. There is one pick up point only._br/_ The guide was ok, doing a great job portraying the info in spanish english then german, but sometimes it gets a little tedious to stop at all the tourist traps leather factory, small kiosk etc_br/_ The boat was cancelled due to the rough seas, ok thats for safety purposes, but I wish we could have been informed earlier anyone that can check the weather forecast would have known it was not going to happen that day and offered a different day or even a partial refund._br/_ When we arrived in our lunch destination see below comment I was feeling a little queasy so was quite slow to leave the bus into the pouring rain and as such the driver and guide departed and locked us in without saying a word. We alongside another guest spent 15 minutes trying to get let off the bus and had to ring the company to try and get the attention of the driver he had left his phone on the bus, but at least they tried to get hold of him as we could hear it ringing. But really, who leaves a bus and locks it with passengers inside obviously gathering their stuff to leave? We would have liked more time at the pretty cove to try and make the best of a bad situation, but lost time locked on the bus.

A day spent mostly travelling - by coach, vintage train, old tram and catamaran, covering a vast mountainous area of Mallorca with beautiful views and breath-taking sights overall limited time for sight-seeing walks disappointing dining experience in the self-service fast-food tourist traps in La Calobra.

Flott tur.

The trip was good although the boat and tram were very crowded with several coach loads catching them at the same time, it felt like we were being shepherded like sheep. _br/_ That said the visit to the leather shop and the fantastic scenery in the mountains and along the coast was breathtaking if you don't like heights try not to be on the nearside of the coach as at times there are precipitous drops on the mountain road._br/_ The guide was very good and I take my hat off to the coach driver as once he dropped us off for the boat he had to retrace his route to meet us at the train station at the end of the trip to take us back to our hotels

It was a nice trip , though we could not do the boat ride due to the fact that one of the tour buses was malfunctioning and closed the road , we had to stay around two hours then the tour guide took a wise decision to skip this part of the trip_br/_ i wish we had more time top spend at the port and by the sea , we only had 45 minutes and we barely had to time to grab a snack._br/_ although it was a nice trip to see the mountains however it was mostly spent in transportation

Fantastic tour._br/_ All my requests regarding pick up and seating was met. _br/_ Not an English only tour so you do have to wait whilst guide goes through everything in all required languages, but he does this quickly. _br/_ Soller is beautiful and would make a great lunch stop. Highly recommend this tour.

Realized could have done tour on my own via train/tram/boat tickets sold in Palma train station. Disappointed we only had 15 minutes in Soller, where you could easily spend a full morning. Would rather spent time there than cheesy leather goods store where they took us for 45 minute stop.

Brilliant day out - we saw lots of parts of the island that we would not have visited without this trip. It was cheaper to book while still in the UK before we went than it would have been to book on the island. A really full day from about 8.30 until 5pm which was well organised and our tour guide was superb - speaking to everyone in their native language and explaing what we were doing/seeing and some of the history behind the transport and places. Ideal for all ages.

Too much driving around in the bus. You don'T really see much. The lunch spot was lame and you don't really learn much about the island. Take the money you would spend and rent a car and drive around the island. Wish we could get our money back. You spend a lot of time picking/dropping people off

Breathtaking views. Disappointed that we didn't know there would be two hours of free time where we could go to the beach. We would have brought bathing suits and towels if we had known. It should be mentioned in the description of the tour. The leather store was also a disappointment.

It was a long bus ride then long train ride then really long boat ride. It was wasting a lot of time on traveling to get to the destination. It wasn't anything worth doing.

Review by:   Kathleen P,    June 2012 Review: 3 star rating: Worth doing
The tour itself was lovely and everything run smoothly. The only criticism I have was that we were the only 2 English persons on the tour and by the time the tour guide had gone through the sightseeing information for the 5 other languages and finally got to the English version, we felt that we were an after thought and the information was rushed through. Also although it was different having a camera man following us about, he could have been a bit more creative than just asking us to stay still while filming. It was a fun day for both of us and I enjoyed seeing the countryside for a change rather than just the beach. Thank you
