Marrakech Full-Immersion Day Tour with Lunch

Marrakech, Morocco

Discover the multiple facets of Marrakech with a stroll in the labyrinth of the narrow streets of the Medina amongst its famous Souks. Immerse yourself in times of old with visits to the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Marrakech including Bahia Palace.

Stroll through the labyrinth of narrow streets in the Medina and visit the famous Souks, selling everything from leather to clothing to spices.

Witness the astonishing spectacle of Djemaa El Fna Square. Used equally by locals and tourists, you will find juice stalls, water sellers and snake charmers by day and dancing boys, storytellers and magicians by night. As darkness descends, the square fills with food stalls.

Visit the most beautiful palaces and monuments in Marrakech including Bahia Palace: Built in the late 19th century, the name literally means 'brilliance' and was intended to be the greatest Palace of its time. You will also visit the Saadian tombs, only recently discovered in 1917 and restored. The tombs have, because of the beauty of their decoration, been a major attraction for visitors of Marrakech.

Lunch is included at a restaurant in the Medina and there will be many photo stops enroute back to your Marrakech hotel including the Koutoubia, Dar El Bacha, Medersa ben Youssef and Dar Nejjarine.

I would not recommend this trip. The guide only took us to shops where he was getting a backhander. Not worried when he lost a lone female group member in the souk.

Overall the locations were beautiful however our tour guide was underwhelming. He almost lost 2 people from our tour group, constantly repeated himself, and didn't pause long enough at key photo opportunities and too long in locations that weren't that meaningful.

First we were told to meet our guide at a place we couldn't find on google, when we contacted them for directions they said it wasn't on any map and we should ask at our Riad - why arrange to meet somewhere that isn't on any map? Our Riad had no idea where it was either. Fortunately we did manage to change the meeting place but it was stressful at the last minute._br/_ The morning was mostly ok going to the places we expected and lunch was at a typical tourist restaurant which was fine. Unfortunately the guide was more interested in 'shopping' and getting commission first a cake shop with 10 Euro cakes - just a quick stop outside so not really a problem but then we were shut in a room while they tried to sell us all spices and oils, then we were taken to a Riad and a random museum which I wasn't expecting and seemed pointless particularly as we were staying in a Riad. We were taken through the souks and told we weren't allowed to buy anything we had to buy at the shop he was taking us to. This got even worse when we were then told we would have to spend half an hour in the shop. I had only booked this tour as I believed it included the Majorelle Gardens as did another couple on the tour this seems to have disappeared from the itinerary listed now and when I realised we wouldn't be going and and would instead be spending half an hour in a shop so the guide could get commission we promptly left and had to get a taxi ourselves to the gardens.

The tour was brilliant. The museums and the souks were inspiring. However, the lunch was poor. It's clearly mass produced and 'tagine' sold to gullible tourists. Having said that, the whole day was fantastic and worth the money! I would book this if you go to Morocco!

A very good starter to a vacation - you really learn a lot about were you have landed in Marrakech - religion - history - palaces...

It all seemed extremely rushed. We left the tour at lunchtime as it wasn't at all what we expected. We were rushed out of places we wanted to spend time in. The guide spent about 30 minutes giving us a talk on doors and door knockers outside a house , and a bit later in the morning we were taken to a spice shop where we spent about an hour or so listening to a talk on herbal medicines in a local shop. I would rather have missed the door and the shop altogether and had more time exploring the historical places. One place we visited we basically used the public toilets and then left. Another place we visited we didn't even look round it was more of a walk through. There was not really what we expected. We decided to see if things improved by lunchtime. They did not.we had the provided lunch, which was very nice, and didn't continue on with the tour.

This was the best way to experience Marrakech in one day! Be prepared to walk, but it's worth it. I felt like we saw more of Marrakech with this tour than we would have ever seen on our own. The guide was friendly, and he doesn't walk fast, so it's more like a stroll through Marrakech. The lunch was really good!

I'm glad we did the tour since they did show us around the city, however, the big disappointment is that guides take you to places where they want you to spend money with their friends or where they get a cut of your purchase. Places of interest where I, as a visitor, actually wanted to spend time and buy something was not allowed. For instance, at the souk the guide would not give us any time to stop and shop or wander around. Instead he rushed us through the alleys of merchants and at the end brought us to a shop where we had 30mins to spend doing what exactly? We ended up staying at the souk after the tour for another 2 hours and wandering around and doing trinket shopping on our own. The restaurant/lunch that's included in this package is also not very good... there are better places for a lot less. Would recommend this tour for those who know absolutely nothing about Marrakech so that they can get an idea of worthy places to visit and come back on their own without the guide on another day.

This is a great tour to get a sense of Marrakech in one day. Be aware of the sanke, moneky, and henna people on the square.

Some of this was interesting but it was basically a marketing trip. We made several stops in shops where the goods on sale were recommended as being superior quality and were three times the price of what was on offer in the Souks. Lunch was fairly grim._br/_ In the plus side, the guide was knowledgable.

First I totally believe that this tour would have been better with the right tour guide. Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs were amazing but the rest of the tour was terrible. The guide took us to two tiny museums that were not even listed on the tour and shops were he wanted us to buy merchandise from his friends. No time to stroll and buy merchandise we wanted. Lunch tasted awful and we were not taken to Dar El-Bacha hammam and Ben Youssef Medersa college. Ive booked many Tours through viator but this one was the worst for the price I paid for 3 people.

The tour gives visitors a great first impression of the city of Marrakech, especially the medina._br/_ The local guide knew his way around the city. The size of our group was good: we were six people in the morning and three people in the afternoon who booked the full day tour._br/_ The tour guide was an older man and he made sure we stick to the schedule and he kept track of time. Unfortunately, his English skills werent that good and in my opinion he didnt seem that interested in showing his city to us._br/_ Some of the stops the guide took us to were not that interesting for the people in the group and it was obvious the guide got a comission for taking us there. _br/_ Lunch was good and the restaurant was nice. The complimentary tea in the afternoon was a welcome break after a lot of walking.

Wow, we saw three sites. In between we spent an hour and a half in their store 'shopping' for oil/tonic/tea/local products, then another '30 minutes' near the Djima El Fna square hostage 'shopping' again for local products. We were told that not much happening at the square, so buy here better. Sorry, we've been there and this was a totally commercialized tour to sell products. Toured with Viator before and you've done much better guys!

Tour would be great if it were not for our guide, it would not explain anything of the history._br/_ The lunch was great in a beautiful restaurant with belly dancer, good food. We had unlucky for the guide, unfortunately very annoying. The van was very old, dirty and the driver's halitosis was horrible

The tour was fantastic - highly recommend. Our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating for all of those in our group. Would have preferred to be in a smaller group initially, as it appears that two groups 26 were combined for the first half of the day. Once the half- day group was finished, those of us in the full day 8 were able to move a bit more nimbly.

High 3/5 from me. I guess not a bad choice if pressed for time. Restaurant we visited certainly looks brighter, more posher, fresher, better on their booklet not in real life. Food? 3/5. Places visited and route - like I mentioned-if pressed for time this tour is not a bad option. Tour guide spoke English, knowledgable

Loads of waiting around.More talking (not the interesting kind) than sight seeing.Lunch was v.average.Spent 1.5hr in random herbal shop trying to sell us stuff theyve brought in but claim made on site.Didnt allow anytime in the Souks, instead took us to his mates house to buy more junk.Dont bother!

Please wear your most comfortable shoes for this tour option since it involves a lot of walking! It will totally drain you of your energy but you will be rewarded with amazing hidden gems around the city. Abdul the tour guide was knowledgeable but sometimes he did repeat himself while sharing facts about the landmarks we visited. Sadly, the lunch they served at the restaurant we stopped at was not filling. Please bring snacks water with you and don't forget a small towel as well to wipe away your sweat.

It was a whole day tour, not a pleasant one. It was not well-organized, I got picked up late so I did not see one spot in the itinerary. We were shuffled hurriedly and our tour guide had to keep reminding everyone to stay in the group because a couple of women in the group acted like spoiled brats, did things their way, consequently delayed the group. Lunch was unimpressive though the restaurant was architecturally interesting. The sites in the itinerary were a must-see places.

Our guide was great. Very informative, personable and helpful to navigate through the city. The pace of the tour was perfect for a first-time visitor and he provided a lot of helpful commentary but also allowed us the flexibility to explore on our own before moving to the next location.

Very interesting tour - good way to see, experience and learn about Marrakesh and its history etc in a day. However although the guide was really interesting and informative there was, perhaps, a little too much information - relayed whilst standing around and not enough immersion in the culture of the souks. Certainly saw lots and learned lots but a little too much like a school educational trip, than an adult fun outing. Just my opinion. But would recommend as a way to see and learn lots in a short space of time

This tour could be better -- the activities/itinerary is good, but our guide seemed bored, and our group agreed that he was just taking us around to his friends' shops in order to get a commission on what was sold. The lunch was good, but I would prefer to eat lunch at place where locals eat instead of a fancy tourist place. The pick-up was on time, and the transport vehicle good.

My Cousin and I really enjoyed this tour. We were two girls, so this tour was a great way for us to acquaint ourselves to the Medina. We visited many of the major sites and learned a lot about Marrakech along with some history along the way! I thought our guide was pretty funny, so that helped a lot. It was nice that we didn't have to worry about lunch, although the food was ok. Lots of walking and perfect for those who want to get their steps in, smell, see, and also shop the Medina in one day. I recommend.

In a sense, you need a guide to navigate the city, or you'll be terribly lost. My guide, Abdul, was very slow and old. I got bored, particularly that he had to stop and talk instead of walk and talk. What was worse was he was code switching. He also needed to give more specific instructions of when/ where to meet. Almost everyone in our group was 45 or younger, and he geared it towards the two who were 60. I'm glad I had him to show me to the major sites, but his style, and treating us as uniformed about Arabic culture, was annoying. I would take the tour again, but not with him.

Get this your if you want transportation, and someone to lead you to the places. Do not get this if you want to learn anything or have in depth information.

Wow!! What an amazing Day from start to finish... our guide was prompt at pick up from our hotel and was friendly and approachable from the offset. We met the rest of our group and headed straight for landmark no1 the mosque then to the saadian tombs, walked to the jewish village via Kasbah, through the market stalls to the Bahia Palace- here we had free time to roam and take pictures. Then we had a fantastic talk from a shop owner who sold legitimate herbs/spices/oils etc... that was really informative and no obligation to purchase anything. We then went for lunch in this beautiful restaurant and probably had the best meal on the whole trip. We continued our trip through the souks and watched the Moroccan people at work! We walked to the Ben Youssef university and then to the Market where we had free time to shop/ wonder/ or take in the beautiful Medina. The guide was knowledgeable, helpful and also had a fun character which makes it less of a history lesson but more of an experience.... one I will treasure forever!! Thank you!!

My experience of this tour was not a positive one unfortunately. It started at the pickup where as we were waiting at different side of the lobby when we did find each other we were greeted with 'Hi why are you late?'. I didn't find this welcoming however I would let this pass. The tour itself consists of all of the main tourist attractions however each stop lasted between 5-20mins. They would give some brief information of a few sentences about the stop and then allow some free time. Information that you can find on a plaque or in a guide book. They would then disappear during the free time so even if you did have further questions they were not available. Lunch is at an restaurant called Dar Essalam which is a nice venue however I have to say the food was very average. It consisted of soup, chicken tagine and fruit. The chicken was overcooked and very dry. As the room you are seated in consists of just large groups of tourists my guess this they cook in large batches at the beginning of the day, hold and serve all day. You do not get to pick the food as it is fixed dishes.

Very informative but bit whistle stop especially through the souks, all the major must see buildings were included along with clear info re the history of the place with a heavy leaning to the religious sights. The lunch was taken in a very atmospheric restaurant complete with belly dancer and Moroccan musicians, we then walked briskly through the souks before being taken to a shop which our guide informed us was authentic goods not bought in from China but as we had glanced many interesting artisans on the way and there were no prices shown few people purchased anything. The tour finished with free time in the square which was just getting going at 3pm, lots to see from monkeys and snakes to hawkers of dodgy gear, all quite exciting and finally returning to the hotel late afternoon.

We had a very positive experience on our tour. We were worried that it would be too long but it was perfect. Our guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable about the history of Marrakech and Morocco. He was also so interesting and blended the world today with the culture of Marrakech/Morocco. As we visited sites, other groups and tourists would stop to listen. The pick-up was a bit uncertain, so read the fine print of the confirmation, but it all worked out beautifully. The lunch was wonderful and was a good break from all of the walking. We would recommend this tour to anyone that visits.

While we did enjoy our Marrakesh Immersion Full Day a few things did somewhat diminish the experience_br/_ Pick up point was very unclear and despite several emails to Viator we only received a reply to this a few days prior to our departure. Some of the other people on the tour had similar experiences. One couple nearly missed the tour as they couldn't find the pick up point._br/_ We realised at the start of the tour that most of the group was French we had booked an English speaking tour and all commentary by the guide was first given in French and then in English. This in itself was a little bit annoying but the English speaking group soon noticed that the guide seemed to give much more information in French than in English. On commenting on this the guide explained that the French were only doing a half day tour so he was giving them more information and would concentrate more on the English group after lunch !?. This was not really helpful as we wanted more information while visiting a specific site, not later. After midday the French group was dropped off and the guide took us to the restaurant included in the price. While the restaurant 'Dar Essalam' features in the Hitchcock film The man who knew too much looks amazing it was clear that it was solely aimed at tourists and the food was dreadful. _br/_ On the positive side we were taken to places we would not have otherwise visited and it was a packed day and good value._br/_ In short more specific information about the tour, especially pick up points please. More authentic Morrocan restaurants with good food and a guide that spends time explaining what you are seeing and answering questions in your language!

I did this tour on my first day in Marrakech. It provided a fairly good introduction to the city as we got to see quite a few places. It was not very informative though, as what the guide, Abdullah, was telling us did not go beyond my travel guide and, furthermore, he had a peculiar manner to repeat the same things over and over again. Overall, I saw quite a lot, learned not that much, but what I did learn I learned by heart!
