Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech
Marrakech, Morocco
Escape the busy city and discover rural Morocco on this 3.5-hour Ourika Valley day trip from Marrakech. Leave bustling Marrakech behind and set off a day trip to the Ourika Valley, a lush oasis of vegetation beneath the magnificent Atlas Mountains. Explore the Oued Ourika gorge with your guide and discover an entirely different pace of life, enjoying a cup of mint tea in a traditional Berber house. This tour is ideal for travellers short on time, eager to experience rural life outside Marrakech.
After a convenient afternoon pickup from your hotel in Marrakech, meet your guide and hop aboard your air-conditioned coach for the 45-minute drive south into the Ourika Valley. Nestled in the foothills of the mighty Atlas Mountains, the Ourika Valley extends along the River Wadi boasting spectacular mountain scenery and cool temperatures even in the summer months. Visit between February and April to enjoy beautiful views of cherry orchards blossoming among the vibrant wildflowers. Travel in comfort through the picturesque Oued Ourika gorge and soak up beautiful views of the lush, green valley sides. Pass through Berber hamlets where donkeys drink from cool mountain streams and gain insight into the rural way of life outside busy Marrakech. Visit a traditional Berber village with your guide, and learn of the many flowers, plants and crops that thrive in the valley’s rich, fertile soils. Take a seat and enjoy a cup of traditional mint tea, and perhaps take the time to enjoy a little conversation with the friendly locals. When it’s time to head back to Marrakech, wave a fond farewell to the villagers and hop back aboard your coach for the journey back to your Marrakech hotel, where your Ourika Valley day trip will come to an end.
Really nice, friendly and enthusiastic tour guide. Well-placed and interesting stops. I thought the stop at the apothecary's felt like a time-filler and not specific enough to the locality. Overall it was very good.

Trip was half day and needed to be longer

A good opportunity to get out of the main city of Marrakech and see some of the dessert and the Atlas mountains. Sadly the tour seemed to focus more on getting you to spend money with the local artisans than seeing the sites of the Ourika Valley, however seeing how Argan oil is made was interesting.

This was a half way house between a full trip to the Atlas mountains and not going at all. If you want a more thorough visit then this isn't the trip for you. If you want a quick taste of the valley, mountains and Berber culture then half a day is fine.

Really good to be given an oppertunity to stop and take pictures. I was expecting more mountains. The drinking was a relaxing experience. Sites were not something i would go back to marrakech for.

They rearranged this trip for Thursday, it was raining so we couldn't see the mountains. The guide and driver were good. I wouldn't pre-book a tour. I would book a tour with a local firm while there.

A most enjoyable experience after a problematic conversation the previous day when we were informed once again that we would be unable to take the visit due to shortage of tourists.Maybe Viator could ensure that subagents in Marrakech 'holiday services' should be a little more positive with their clients.Trip offeredlovely scenery

Brilliant trip. Unfortunately at first we didn't think it was going to be as the trip was delayed from 09.30 to 1.30pm. Then the bus was 45 minutes late. BUT after all that it was wonderful. We had proper mint tea and home made bread in a Berber home. Fantastic guide as well.

This was a pleasant afternoon but we subsequently did the 4WD tour and there is quite a lot of duplication with the 4WD being far the better option.

This was a great way to spend the afternoon! The travel up the mountainside roads alone was worth the price! We made several stops, and at just the right times and places. The scenery every was beautiful, and our guide was very knowledgeable.
