Souks and Medinas of Marrakech Tour
Marrakech, Morocco
Visit the many Souks and Medinas of Marrakech to see the locals selling everything from fresh vegetables and spices to leather and jewelry. Be entertained by the acrobats, snake charmers and musicians of Djemaa El Fna square and visit Medersa ben Youssef, a former Islamic college.
Marrakech is a city full of many souks and markets, hiding away in the narrow alleys and squares of the Medina's. On this morning tour you will visit Morocco's most famous souks for an opportunity to be part of the daily hustle and bustle. Shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs of your visit to Morocco as you explore the souk and practise your bargaining skills. In Djemaa El Fna Square, acrobats, snake charmers and Gnawa musicians entertain the crowd while creating a lively atmosphere.
Visit Medersa ben Youssef, a former Islamic college named after the sultan Ali ibn Yusuf who was influential in the expansion of the city. Once one of the largest theological colleges in North Africa housing as many as 900 students, the building has been refurbished and reopened to the public as a historical site.
Before returning to your Marrakech hotel, you will also stop by a herbalist for a presentation of spices and plants used in traditional Moroccan medicine.
Wasn't really worth it to me - could've walked around myself with wikipedia on my phone

Disappointed felt we were rushed through the souk to be taken to one shop where we had 30 minutes to shop. No one wanted or bought anything and asked to leave after 10 minutes. Later we had 45 minutes and we all went back into soul alone to buy what we wanted.not recommended

This tour allows you to experience the behind the scenes of the Medina. Well worth doing!

Our guide was on-time and took us to some parts of the Souks we would not have been able to access on our own. But our afternoon tour was a part of another's group's whole day tour so it was disjointed on who had access to what. Overall, our guide was confusing, unhelpful and a bit confrontational.

I wish we had more time and freedom to explore the different souks and not rushed to shop in the only place that paid a commission to our guide. But after all it was worth it...safe and time was well managed. I was satisfied with the cooperative souk items and the guide bargained for me.

The group was to big, the guide didn't speak english very well, and it was a very hurried tour. We spent most of our time at a shop for aragan oil and spices, which none of us were interested in we had paid for a tour of the Medina and Souks, which we felt we got a very mini and extremly quick version of.

Great excursion and excellent tour guide. A truly unique experience and worth doing.

A good way to get an overview of the souks. Better to do this as the first thing when you arrive. I would recommend it.

I had to give one star booked two tours but the guide never turned up at hotel or location point even though I emailed and called the day before

We were very impressed with the tour. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and taken to the tour bus to meet up with the guide. He was very knowledgable and the tour of the souks was a real help giving us confidence to go back several times during our stay in Marrakech. We were taken to a small cafe for a complimentary drink and enjoy the panoramic view from their rooftop terrace of the square. However, we felt it very unnecessary to take us by bus for the last hour of our tour to a very high class leather shop selling very expensive leather jackets. Having been made to sit through a cat walk and then offered drinks and being made to feel very uncomfortable. This was not just ourselves but by every person also on our tour. We felt that the last hour could have been spent differently, besides which going to a high class leather shop was never mentioned in your description of the tour and is not something that us Brits take kindly to. _br/_
Please rethink what you do for the final hour of the tour or just make the tour 2.30 till 5pm.

Well, I cannot rate this tour as despite my numerous attempts to arrange pick up I did not hear from the local agency, so no tour was provided!! Very disappointed.

Enjoyed the trip but was disappointed to be taken into a pharmacy where we were kept for about 45 minutes listening to a description of various miracle cures followed by a concerted effort to encourage us to make purchases. Having escaped this we spent a further 30 minutes in one specific souvenir shop. The souks and medina were fascinating and we would have preferred more time walking around these- which is what we had booked for. Have done Viator walking tours before and not had this problem.

We booked this tour not knowing much of the souks and medinas, and i must say for us it was worth doing._br/_
The guide did give us a good tour and explained the history of the souks and madinas, but it was a walk through the area, you didnt get time to stop and shop. The most time was at one stop was at the pharmacy aimed to sell you local items, really good if you were in the market to buy!!_br/_
The trip was about the right amount of time, you finish off the tour in the Medina, with enough time for a drink and a quick wander.

I felt that the tour guide was a little disinterested and also brought us to stalls where the sellers were very pushy. But that is probably more to do with Marrakech than the tour! Good that there was just 5 of us on the tour, better than a big crowd.

It gives you a bearing of the vast area of the souks and medina. There is a lot of walking involved and you just walk through the small bye lanes. If you are adventourous enough to venture into the bye lanes yourself then you can skip the tour. However if you prefer walking in a group and not bother about people chasing you to buy stuff it is worth doing the trip. _br/_
The trip gave us an idea where to go and find things. We spent the next 2 days within the souks walking and shopping on our own.

Good for a first trip into Marrakech City, gives you the confidence to venture out on your own the next time. Guide was very good especially as it was the Sunday after Eid, a lot of the souk shops were closed, so no hassle

Tour and guide were very good. The local office that arranged the tour were disorganized, rude and spoke very little English even though they knew it was an English booking. We were even very rudely dismissed for not speaking French.

Disappointing start as when phoning to confirm collection time we were informed that maybe we would be unable to go since there were not enough people. However the time was agreed eventually and the visit proved to be a worthwhile one.Guide's English was a little difficult to understand.

Our tour guide did nothing more than walk with us through the souks. He was more interested in chain-smoking. I guess the tour prevented us from being bombarded by the vendors and getting lost in the maze.
