Small-Group Luxury Day Trip to Haleakala National Park and Hana Coast Rainforest

Maui, United States of America

Experience Maui’s diverse landscapes – from the countryside to the coast – on this small-group luxury day trip. Aboard a luxury limo-van, soak in sweeping views from the Haleakala Crater in Haleakala National Park before descending into the beautiful Hana Coast rainforest. Travel through cowboy country, past waterfalls and bamboo forests and along the rugged Pacific coastline to Ho’okipa Beach. You’ll enjoy a light morning snack, ice-cold soft drinks on board and a gourmet Pacific Rim lunch including grilled chicken or seared ono with salads and fresh fruit. Throughout your journey, your guide will provide interesting commentary about the sights you see.

After early-morning pickup from your Maui hotel, enjoy a light morning snack and begin your journey by luxury 8-seater limo-van to Haleakala National Park and the Hana Coast rainforest.

Travel through the picturesque Central Valley for 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pickup location, and ascend to the pinnacle of Haleakala National Park at 10,023 feet (3,055 meters). When you arrive at the visitor’s center on the rim of the Haleakala Crater, marvel at breathtaking panoramas and enjoy countless photo opportunities before descending along the scenic mountain drive.

See cattle and dairy ranches on the way to the Hawaiian paniolo town of Makawao, which still has hitching posts from back when horses were more common than cars. Today, this quaint, rustic town is home to an eclectic group of little shops and boutiques, which you can browse during your free time here.

In between sightseeing, head to a scenic location -- depending on the weather and the group's preferences -- to relax and enjoy a gourmet Pacific Rim lunch served on linen tablecloths. Indulge in delectable dishes like grilled chicken, seared ono, organic mixed greens, vegetable pasta salad, fresh fruit and a fudge brownie.

After lunch, travel east through Ha’iku, whose grass is a beautiful emerald green. See bountiful avocados, citrus fruits, bananas and exotic flowers growing in the countryside before arriving finally at the spectacular Hana Coast rainforest. Get out and stretch your legs and explore stunning waterfalls and bamboo forests, soaking in the tropical atmosphere.

Hop back in the limo-van and continue on the Road to Hana, along the rugged Pacific coast, to the farming community of Ke’anae. Here, walk around and discover a traditional way of life that has endured for more than 500 years.

On your return journey, stop by Ho’okipa Beach, which reigns supreme as the world's premier windsurfing beach. Get out and feel the cool ocean breeze, and catch a glimpse of talented windsurfers putting on an aquatic show!

You'll arrive back at your Maui hotel in the early evening.

This was our first booked tour. Awesome! It really set the pace for the rest of our trip in Hawaii! We were so lucky to be the only people on this tour, so this became a private tour! So we set our own pace and beat all the other tourist traffic. Comfortable SUV. Les was one amazing tour guide! Efficient with his driving the narrow, curving Hana road. Super funny! So informative and accommodating. We learned so much about Hawaii...culture, geology, vegetation and Hawaiian creatures. We were lucky to spot multiple animals and birds along our tour! The gem of the trip was having a wonderful catered picnic lunch in a secluded scenic area on our way to Haleakala! Yummy meal with Maui golden pineapples! Thank you Les! This tour deserved the highest rating because of you!

Price of this tour is a high as what we expected from the website deliverables did not happen. We were supposed to explore Cowboy town, we just drove by it in 10 seconds. We were supposed to explore waterfalls and bamboo forest. Did not happen. In fact, one of person on the tour asked if we could go into the bamboo forest and the tour guide said no as it was too dangerous despite the fact it was a deliverable on the website. We never got to explore any waterfalls, a big reason for our booking the excursion. No soft drinks. We ran out of the tour around 3:30. No gourmet lunch, on the website it says grilled chicken, we had wraps. Very overpriced and they did did not deliver. Their website needs to be updated. With all that being said, our tour guide Bill was awesome, he had so many stories and insights to make the day so very memorable. He took us to some of his favourite spots including seeing the sea turtles. We loved the tour but the website needs to be updated so people don't get fooled into what they are paying for.

This was a fabulous trip and our guide, Jay, was great. He was extremely informational, engaging, and courteous. He provided a very nice breakfast and lunch. This was a great way to visit both Haleakala and see the Hana Coast Rainforest. I definitely recommend this tour to others.

We were the only 2 booked for this day. Les, our driver, made this very good. He took us up to the crater for great views. Then because we had alreadt done the Hana Coast trip, he took us around places we had not been to. We saw various homes of famous people and many of the major hotels. Les, was very informative about lots of places and things around our tour.

Not worth the money. Would have rated lower except our tour guide, Al, was excellent. Never received our light snacks and lunch was poor.

The tour gave us a good look at two locations that we probably wouldn't have undertaken by ourselves. Les, our guide, gave us great information that helped us understand the Island and what we were seeing. He went out of his way to point out special spots before we got to them so we could be ready with our cameras. Great, personal tour.

Great trip with very knowledgable driver. Spectacular scenery. Only negative was van seating. Of the 8 seats, 3 were ideal, 2 were good and 3 were terrible. Cramped rear bench with little leg room on outer seats and middle seat having very poor viewing outside. We rotated periodically in acknowledgement that some seats were poor so everybody got good and bad when we had all hoped for good period.

The tour guides - Mike and Bill - were exceptional and very funny. My son was a picky eater, but they accommodated his needs. The tour was excellent - except that one of the other participants had a cold which both my son and I caught making the end of our trip to Maui a little different than we expected.

Our tour guide, Les, was OUTSTANDING! He was very knowledgeable about the history, culture, and current events of the islands. Lunch was very fresh and delicious! Les' kindness made our tour that much more enjoyable.

This was a fabulous tour. Our tour guide, Sean, was very knowledgeable of everything from history to geology, food to music, botany to astronomy. The drive to the top of Haleakala was spectacular and although one can do it themselves, it is much better to have a driver who can explain things.

Tour was very good, good guide. Disappointed in lunch, considering the price of the tour, I expected better.

Great tour. We were a family of five and ended up being the only ones on the tour. We got aazing pics of Haleakala. We had two kids which is why we chose this tour since I wasnt sure if they would enjoy a car ride to Hana but this was perfect. One day and we got amazing pics. Lunch was at a lavendar farm and the food was good.

Lovely tour, glad it went ahead with there just being the two of us booked for that day. Lunch was lovely, although didn't think much of the area chosen to have it. Would have preferred a stop with a view of the ocean.

Our recent trip to the national park and the Hana rainforest was exceptional. Our driver was very nice and informative about the area and the people who live there. Unfortunately it was raining when we reached the top of the crater but the trip up was still interesting. The rainforest was a nice compliment to the park and worth seeing. Throughout the day we were able to get out and look around and take pictures. We learned a great deal. It was definitely worth it!

The tour guide, Andy, was great! The Haleakala National Park part was the highlight of the tour, would recommend that part of the tour. The rainforest part was lack-luster... I've been to the state park rainforest on the Big Island which is terrific, so was sort of expecting something like that. I also think the lunch stop needs serious re-vamping. A picnic in a run-down park, really?? The food was adequate, but the surroundings weren't. Find a restaurant somewhere. Also not having sodas available for drink leaves something to be desired...we aren't coffee drinkers, and juices are just too loaded with sugar, water was good but I got tired of it.

Haleakala was amazing and our trip along the Hana Coast was beautiful. While we appreciated the guide's knowledge, he had a bit of an attitude and was quick to point out our mistakes. I almost feel like he was not the ideal person to lead a small group tour (this ended up just being our family).

What a day.... Dry landscapes, a dormant volcano, winding road through a rainforest are all part of this day. We had the luxury car and the driver was very enthusiastic and shared many great experiences.... A good all round if a long one. Do it..
