Mexitours did a great job of operating this tour and our driver, guide Eduardo was excellent. However, we did not realize that for every visit to the colonial cities outside Mexico City, it would be 3 - 4 hours of driving each way and 2 -3 hours visiting the destination. This was not the fault of Mexitours. The problem is the traffic in and around Mexico City. Our hotel, Hampton Inn, was very good and in a perfect location for walking around the historic city center. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. If we had fully realized the problem of driving in and out of the city, we would have chosen a tour that drove to Puebla, Taxco, etc. and stayed for a night. We would have seen and experienced more.

Well worth the cost. Enjoyed it very much

Review by:   Sharon G,    March 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
Our biggest disappointment with the tour was that we were put in a substandard hotel One Alameda after being told that we would be put in the Hampton Inn. Viator's advertisement said Hampton Inn or similar hotel. I called to ask whether the Hampton Inn was available, and Viator confirmed that it was. However, upon arrival we were taken to the One Alameda Hotel, which had no closet, no shelf space, a very small bathroom with a door that did not close, and an air conditioner which worked only when there was movement in the room. We called Hampton Inn and learned that there were rooms available there. We called Viator and requested a change. We were told by the local tour company Viator's agent that we would be moved after one night. However, we ended up incurring 485 in hotel fees after we made the move because neither Viator nor the local tour company would sort out the problem We enjoyed all of the places that this tour took us. The tour guides were friendly and informative. However, we were told the tour would be bilingual however, the guides spoke significantly more in Spanish than in English. Mexico City and environs is a wonderful place to visit.

This is one of the best tours I have taken. The tour company is very professional and personable and go out of their way to make sure everything is right for you. Every site visited was stunning. We were fortunate to have the same guide, Umberto, for 3 tours. He was wonderful and extremely knowledgable about Mexico's history. The hotel used was Hampton Inn and Suites in the historic area. The hotel is wonderful and the service provided was first class.

We did the five day tour and most of it was wonderful - especially the guides and the drivers. My only complaint - and it's a big one - is, there was too much time spent shopping. I have no problem with allowing 15 or 20 minutes here or there but I was very disappointed on the day we went to Taxco. We stopped outside of the city at a restaurant and silver shop. We had lunch and then we were given about an hour to buy silver. Fine. But that meant we had less than an hour in Taxco. My husband and I were very disappointed. If we hadn't already paid for the rest of the tour, we would not have continued. Again, the people and the service were great but it was supposed to be a tour, not a shopping trip.

This tour was a great experience. We learned about the history, the culture, the religion, and the people of Mexico. We enjoyed the trip from start to finish.

Everything went smoothly from airport pickup to tour arrangements. Though the mix of tourists differed each day, we happened to get the same guide for the 4 escorted trips Miguel - and he was great. We liked the mixture of day trips and time to ourselves. Hotel Hampton Inn was excellent - and location perfect. Tour was an excellent value, costing little more than hotel alone if we had booked it separately.

Too wonderful trip. Guides introduced and escorted very kindly, so I could understand about Mexico.

Even though traffic is really really bad in Mexico City and nearby cities, specially during the Day of the Dead celebration and a Formula1 race going on, I still recommend the tour._br/_ There were a few mess ups like having had our hotel changed after it had already been confirmed, so we had to change hotels in the middle of the trip because we had already booked extra nights, having to wait 2 hours to be picked up upon arrival at the airport because the person of contact didn't show up, not to say the traffic related issues that could be avoided with better logistics planning._br/_ Yet I must say the tour agency ended up making up for it with its assistance during the trip.

This package was well put together on the whole I thought and covered as much as possible in that time. Be prepared for long days with a fair bit of travelling. All but one of my travelling companions each day were Spanish speakers but the bilingual guides ensured we got all the information during the tours on 3 out of the 4 tour days. On the half day I was the only English speaker and the guide struggled with limited English very apologetically and I struggled with limited Spanish. We did not seem to cover all that was indicated in the blurb and that day was a little disappointing especially after the highlights of the previous days. The Hotel Zocalo was in a great location if you are not wanting the upbeat end of town with coffee shops, restaurants and an active nightlife. It was a good choice for my needs and at the centre of all the action I could cope with. The view from the restaurant at breakfast is magnificent...the best on the Zocalo, and the hotel staff were genuinely friendly and nothing was too much trouble._br/_ This is an excellent package for single travellers with limited time.

Saw everything promised with few exceptions in our Central Mexico tour. Traffic in Mexico City delayed things enough that we didn't get more than a drive-by of the Cortez palace in Cuernavaca, spent all our time on the cathedral visit there. An overnight in Taxco would have made that long day more fulfilling, with more time to spend investigating the byways of the town. Our guide/drivers, all of them, were aggressive but competent on the road, and comfortably bilingual. My wife speaks Spanish, and talked animatedly with other passengers in the vans. After a long journey through the south end of Mexico City we were delighted with the utter change of pace as we boarded the Aztec boats at Xochimilco. Our first experience with a week-long guided tour exhausting, but it will have us coming back for more.

The tour of Central Mexico was good and gave us an excellent taste of the interior of Mexico. Expect very long days and long travel periods - 8 to 11 hours. However, the guide (while nice) did not have a command of the English language and was very difficult to understand causing the group to miss most of the wonderful history that supported the tour. The Galeria Plaza Hotel was modern and quiet. The breakfasts were terrible.

The tour was very good. All the guides / drivers were great. They were well organized and the time spent at each site was well used. Some great places to see! Hotel Geneve is fantastic. The only issue is the traffic whichever makes some of the days rather long.

This trip was outstanding and well worth the money. The cathedrals and pyramids were spectacular. Silver in Taxco was to die for because of quality and price. The chicken mole was scrumptious in Puebla. The Forklorica Ballet at the Bellas Artes was magnificent. I highly recommend this trip.

I and my husband recently came back from this tour. I highly recommend it as a family or a duo get away as it was very well organized, professional, friendly and fun. Daily tours are well balanced so that one can also wander around by themselves to explore the city. The best part of the trip was the friendly staff starting from being picked up at the airport to different tour guides. We could really tell they were all going out of their way to accommodate each and every one of us. We also liked that we were given tours not only inside the city itself, but taken out to other surrounding interesting places very well worth visiting giving us a chance to get a real feel of the country, the people and what it is all about. I am not going to lie we did come back exhausted and a little bit overwhelmed, but it was a good thing given you have only 5 days to a 20 million people populated city and its surroundings. Highly recommend!!

We found this tour fabulous. Hotel Geneve was superb and in a great location. We had an American breakfast included in the price and that was very nice - eggs or fruit platter, fruit juice, toast, tea/coffee. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by the tour representative. He was easy to recognise with his company uniform and he had our name on a message board. He drove us to our hotel and was very pleasant. He gave us our itinerary which was very detailed day by day what we would be doing and pickup times. The day tours were done in a slightly different order to that specified on the website, but that was not a problem. The daily tours were really interesting and we were picked up at the hotel within 15 mins of planned pickup times. All tours went according to plan, except for 1 which was estimated at 4 hours but we were away over 6 hours and we had to buy a pricey lunch that we weren't expecting. Each day we were phoned by a tour rep asking how the previous day went and reminding us about pickup time for the next day. They were very attentive. On the day of departure our driver arrived 30 mins early but we were ready and waiting so it was not a problem. The traffic in Mexico City is usually chronic congestion (except for Sunday morning when there wasn't much traffic about) and the tour company ensure they get people to the airport in plenty of time for their flight. The price of this tour was very good value and it is very well organised. I thoroughly recommend it.

That's the way to see the Mexico City. Though be prepared to stay stuck in traffic. Guides were really good. English was good too. Tour company is exceptional in service. Hotel Geneve is awesome. This is the way to visit Mexico City and the areas around.

Hotel Geneve excellent. Pablo a wonderful guide. However the day we visited the pyramids was a weekend and also a National holiday. We queued for 2 hrs and did not reach the top as our tour group had to leave. Very disappointing. May I suggest the Pyramid day tour be listed on a weekday and not a public holiday in future.? The tour to Taxco Silver City was particularly enjoyable. We did find after 3 very long 10-11 hour days we had to miss the City cultural shorter tour the next day to have a day of rest!! (But I must mention my sister and I are 80yrs - so can be forgiven!) We did the hop on/off bus the next day. Overall a wonderful few days in a lovely city. Thankyou Pablo.

Would give 5 stars but local tour company screwed up my name, itinerary and was completely unorganized! The tours in this package are GREAT! Lots of local, Indian and Spanish history to learn, beautiful 16th century churches to see and 4 different pyramid complexes to visit. The hotel location and amenities were superb - worth every penny!

This was an excellent trip and very good value for the money. The hotel was well-equipped and conveniently located adjacent to the Zócalo. The dining area on the roof terrace provided stunning views of the cathedral and the surrounding area. With regard to the tours, they were excellent and the guides were well-informed and professional. The only criticism I have is that there are some long trips of 11 hours or more and if you have them back-to-back as we did it is grueling. In fact we missed the second trip to Cuernavaca because we were knot ready for a long day in the hot sun while we were on vacation. However, this is my only criticism and I would definitely use this tour company again.

For the price I paid, it was great. Do expect that just picking up and dropping off various clients from different hotels will clip at least 2 hours from the tour. I did not pay for a private tour and it was fun to meet new fellow travelers, so it was not a big deal for me.

We really loved all the places we went to. All the guides were excellent and full of information. The only place we did not like was the restaurant at Taxco the service was horrible it took more than an hour to get our food and the food was not that great for the price.

This was a fantastic tour for which we must congratulate your local operators. They were extremely professional in everything they did yet also made our tours informative and fun. It was a very busy programme but it did allow us to get a real taste of Mexico City and the surrounding areas. Great value for money

Mexico City was fascinating. The City Tour and the Touribus were our favorite days. The only disappointment was the visit to Teotihaucan. Billed as a 5 hour tour, the day actually took 11 hours. We were an hour late being picked up at our hotel; it took another hour to pick up folks from other hotels. When we finally arrived at the pyramids, we spent time at an obsidian business (which was interesting but took time). We were told there would be time to climb the Pyramid of the sun, but there wasn't. We English speakers sometimes seemed to miss out on the guide's information and at the Shrine of Guadalupe we missed all instructions and didn't know when we were supposed to leave.

I had a blast! It is a great way to see Mexico given the fact that my Spanish is very limited. The tour itself is a great mix of historical sites, culture and local life. The Teotihuacan Pyramids was amazing! Cuernavaca is a very laid back city full of life. As a single female traveler, I felt totally safe with the company of my guide. He is really informative and friendly. Highly recommend this trip to whoever visit Mexico for the first time!

Review by:   SusanW,    March 2012 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The hotel itself and the food at hotel were great! Rooftop terrace seating with great views of the Zocalo in the hotel restaurant. Tours were rushed by guides and not always as stated on website. Guides tend to set you up for buying stuff from vendors of their choosing. We did see most of the sites we had wanted to although not for as long as we had thought, more time was spent at the vendors of the guides choosing. Guides had good knowledge of the sites. Overall was ok, but could easily have been better if the tour operator delivering the services was better organized and provided tours as stated. Hop on and off bus was a huge waste of time.
