Cinque Terre Day Trip from Milan

Milan, Italy

Discover Italy’s sublime Cinque Terre coastal region on a day trip from Milan. Renowned for its terraced landscapes and five cliffside villages – Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore – the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre is one of Italy's scenic gems. Head there in a comfortable coach and then ride a boat from Monterosso to La Spezia. Enjoy free time to explore and have lunch (own expense) before returning to Milan.

Leaving Milan, arrive at Cinque Terre and reach Manarola via a scenic route on the coast. Here you'll have free time to venture around the vineyards, stroll the piers where fishing boats line the shore, or watch the locals and the tourists jump into the sea from the rocks of the harbor.

Right before lunch time (own expense), catch the train to Monterosso al mare, the largest of the five villages, where you will have time to explore and visit the beaches dotted along the coast. Despite the number of tourists, there is still a real sense of local identity even in the most tourist-crammed piazze (squares). Restaurants, bars, and accommodation all have an endearingly homespun air about them.

From Monterosso, start the final leg of your journey: a 90-minute boat cruise, where you can admire the stunning views of the Cinque Terre and the delightful village of Portovenere from the sea. Arrive at La Spezia where your coach will be waiting to take you back to Milan.

A bit rushed only due to seas being poor and subject to trains and schedules. Good full day and tour guide excellent. Amazing bus ride.

Loved this tour. You have walk a lot and take lots of trains and climb steps. Also went on one of the hottest days. Despite that it was absolutely lovely and really enjoyed the aspect of being able to sit back and enjoy someone else's organized tour. Always book with Viator and love their tours!

one of the best day trips for me - despite the loooong coach ride, i was simply blown away by the scenic autumn sights especially when we were approaching La Spezia. totally charmed by the centuries-old seaside villages along the rugged Italian Riviera coastline, fronted by colorful houses and vineyards on the steep terraces. we visited the village of Manarola, then took a train ride to Monterosso, where we had lunch before hopping on a ferry ride back with a fantastic sunset view to boot! Cinque Terre is simply breathtaking - definitely a must-visit when in Italy. one item in my bucket list checked! :-

A long day from Milan however tour is well paced. Some of the towns are looking a little tired, I enjoyed the tour however I have seen other destinations in Italy which have more appeal, including the Amalfie Coast.

Not very organized and walked too fast for the majority of travelers._br/_ Not very informative and on boat and train stops no information offered.

The tour and guide was exceptional. The bus was a smaller and older type so it seemed like a sauna at the back of the bus but Cinque Terre tours were great. We got to see 3 of the best areas.

Enjoyed a tour of Mount St. Michell and St Marlo with our expert guide who we were delighted to travel with. Expert knowledge and driving and the nicest person as well. Her interest was entirely in us getting the most possible enjoyment out of the day which we did. It was one of the best experiences of our entire trip.

This trip was a great intro to Le Cinque Terre, I thought we wouldn’t have time to enjoy the villages but we had enough time to explore on our own and eat a very delicious lunch. The weather made the trip all the better. The drive there and back are a bit long so if you have extra time in Milan

Cinque Terre is unbelievably beautiful and unique. The bus was clean, new and well driven on some very challenging cliff side roads. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. He had his finger on the pulse of the group throughout walking the twisty hillside towns, hikes, boat ride transfers and train rides in areas heavy with tourists. It was a pleasure to have an opportunity to have so many different experiences in one day._br/_ I was disappointed in a heavily promoted restaurant for lunch- even what to order. It wasn't mandatory but if I had to do it again, I'd venture out on my own. _br/_ I would advise this tour.

You may prefer to take this trip from Florence, because of the long bus ride from Milan. That being said, I experienced a full day of breathtaking moments during this tour. Zani Viaggi, the tour company, does this trip well. I never would have been able to see so much in so short a time on my own. Cars and buses are not allowed in Cinque Terre, so travel was by two boat rides and a train ride, all perfectly timed. The area is simply gorgeous, unlike any place I've ever been. How people built these towns precariously, on cliff edges, is mind boggling!

The trip was as advertised. The Cinque Terre is a marvelous place. I hope some day we can return and spend more time there.

The tour is perfect for a day trip...too many tourists to spend any more time! We were able to see all of the cities from the boat and had a chance to spend time in Manarola and Monterosso al Mare. We were given the opportunity to have lunch in Monterosso but after one and a half hours at Ristorante Via Venti with no food we had to leave. Other than having a restaurant recommendation the trip was very organized with well timed technical stops.

Cinque Terre was amazing! Italy is so rich in history and culture I though our ride to and from would have been spent by our guide giving us more information. Tour left me hungry for more facts about this beautiful area. Speaking of hungary I had 3 servings of the best Gelato there.

Our recent trip to CT in late September was enjoyable and the little towns very charming and endearing. I recommend this trip For anyone looking for a quick taste. Keep in mind there is very limited time to really explore or hike from town to town. One frustrating incident I would like to point out, the town where we had time to grab lunch our guide Mauricio announced to the group he had made reservations for tables at a local restaurant because it got crowded and tables were hard to come by. This was optional but he emphasized tables can be hard to find. About six from our group took him up on his offer and were very sorry. First of all, we passed multiple other restaurants with plenty of seating while walking to this little place a few blocks back from the waterfront area. Then when we sat down to get served it took a good 20 minutes to even get someone to take our order. We were sittting outside at tables along the cobblestone street and figured inside was full and they were very busy. Long story short, we spent the entire 2 hours getting lunch and then had no time to explore, go to the beach, etc. Left us wondering if the tour company got a kickback for sending folks to this restaurant. Overpriced, slow, and then they messed up the order! When we went in to use the restrooms afterward the inside was empty. So the few of us sitting outside were their only customers. I recommend letting restaurants know you are part of a tour and if you can't get served right away, move on. Better yet find something to go and head to the beach area. This day trip from Milan is a long day with a commute time of 2 1/2 hours each way. The cruise at the end was a bonus, allowing a coastal view. If we go again, we'll go for a couple days so we can hike between a couple of the towns.

This was a great tour! The spots we stopped at were very nice. The food was really great at the places went to. You get a true Italian feel with this itinerary. The boat cruise was quite lengthy and that was enjoyable. The bus ride was lengthy so be prepared for that. Amazing homemade pastas at the restaurants!

This is a trip I was most excited about and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. The tour is definitely rushed and you add the overcrowdedness due to the many cruise ships it makes it less desirable. The cruise is actually a communal ferry and they're also packed from top to bottom and trying to take pictures was hard. We had some very rude people on the bus that continued to have a conversation within themselves so made it difficult to hear the history, other tourist were telling them to shhhh and the tour guide try to talk over them instead of just politely telling them to shut up. I think I'm glad I went because it was a bucket list tick for me, but it wasn't what I expected.

Time only lets you visit a few villages, but there is time for lunch, a bit of looking around, some photos and a peek in the shops. The train, boat and bus rides were very enjoyable and scenic, with narration provided by the guide, and it was nice to have comfort stops along the way to get a cup of coffee/snack/etc. The bus/boat/train were all clean and comfortable. I would recommend this trip to get an overall experience of Cinque Terra.

The tour was really worth a trip. My only complain is about pretty anoying heat on back seats of the bus which probably came from bus engine. Otherwise everything went perfect. Highly recommend this tour

This was a long and hot day. The guide was friendly and informative. The bus cool and comfortable. We took this tour in August so it was very crowded everywhere we went. I'm a picture taker and the boat ride, which was to be our opportunity to view and photograph the villages from the water, was so crowded, all I could do was look over dozens of heads to see the sites but I couldn't take any photos. The tour included two of the five villages. They were quaint and picturesque but hot -- did I say it was hot? It was hot! However, the water was gorgeous, turquoise and crystal clear. It was fun to watch the sunbathers and the brave souls diving off the rocks.

A great trip! The only problem is the trip from Le Spezia to Manarola which is too long. It can be replaced by train to save some time because in any event the trip from Manarola to Monterosso would be by train. Overall speaking, impressive!

We really enjoyed this trip. We went on a Friday so it wasn't very busy and the weather was beautiful. I only wish we had gotten to see more of the towns in Cinque Terre. My husband really wanted to stop in one more town but time didn't permit. If you're adventurous, you can do this trip on your own by train from Milan.

Good trip. Guides good and helpful. Too bad the rain caused problems but that is not the fault of the guides or the tour itself. Guides were waiting for a restaurant with some other members of the tour and they suggested we wait with them. GREAT choice family owned restaurant - Ristorante da Ely

Our guide was great. When we got back to Milan our bus was blocked by a wreck on the outskirts of the city. We got off and walked to a nearby subway station. He showed up and showed us how to buy a ticket and where to get on and off. Otherwise, we would have had to be stranded for a long time, far from our hotel or had to figure out the subway system by ourselves.

Did not get to go on boat because of weather, and had to skip one of the stops. The guide kept pushing everybody to hurry and it did not seem like we had any time to see anything. Guide didn't seem to like that some people did not go to eat where he suggested. Overall, a dissapointment...
