Milford Sound is around 5-6 hours (one-way) from Queenstown and around 3 hours from Te Anau by road. We have specially designed luxury coaches* that can get you there from both these towns or if you prefer we can get you there on one of our scenic flights. You could also drive yourself to Milford. The best way to enjoy the Milford Road, one of the world’s finest alpine roads without having to worry about the often tricky driving conditions, is on one of our coaches. Our experienced coach drivers know all the right places to stop and take in the magnificent views of the Milford Road. Along the way, they will provide you with informative commentary about the region, its history and natural surroundings.

This tour was well organized and a good value. The coach ride was enjoyable because the bus was designed with windows in the roof of the bus and this allowed passengers to take in all of the scenery. The boat tour of Milford Sound was also enjoyable--it was clean and it was nice to be able to go inside to warm up. I am very happy I did this tour.

The tour was undertaken by Real Journey. It was just amazing from the time we were picked up from the Hotel right to the end. Our bus guide was very knowledgable, and so was the guide on the cruise. There were ample stops for photos both ways and we were not rushed at all. Food on the cruise was just lovely and delicious. Overall a very great experience and would highly recommend this tour and Real Journey.

The sights of Milton Sound are quite iconic. However when we had our trip it was raining with very low cloud/mist and difficult to really appreciate the sights. However, it would be wrong to suggest that we saw nothing. The vastness of the place was incredible as were the waterfalls. We saw seals a couple of times but it would really depend on the time of year for other wildlife. There was a great guide on the nature tour with a good sense of humour. Very informative and amusing at the same time. In the two hour trip there were moments when we could see a bit better but it does rain there 260 days of the year. I am very glad I made the trip as I wouldn't have missed it.

My day tour to Milford Sound was fantastic!!! The bus with glass top was amazing and everybody, from the driver to the boat guide, did their best to make the day really especial. I enjoyed every minute.

We decided to take the tour rather than drive ourselves as the weather was predicted to be rainy. Glad we did as it was a wet, windy day so we all got to relax and enjoy the scenery. The bus driver was funny and informative. The kids enjoyed the day and seeing the waterfalls going sideways in the Sound, instead of down, was pretty amazing due to the wind, and we saw two seals on the cruise.

Nice boat. Stewart the nature guide was very knowledgable and funny. I felt safe on board the Milford mariner. We got to see Miter peak before the weather set in. It was windy and a little cold. However, it a fiord so what do you expect. Waterfalls were beautiful.
