Montreal, Canada

Delight your taste buds on this small-group wine-tasting tour from Montreal to Quebec wine country. Choose either the afternoon tour or the full-day tour, and receive royal treatment as you are welcomed by vineyard owners and led on exclusive winery tours at two or three wineries. Start with an educational wine-tasting workshop to learn how to identify flavors and then enjoy a blind-tasting experience. The full-day tour includes a gourmet lunch and cheese tasting. The half-day includes a local cheese tasting only. This small-group tour ensures a welcoming and personalized experience with a bilingual English- and French-speaking guide.

After meeting your guide, who will distribute complimentary bottled water, board your comfortable minibus or van for the one-hour drive to Quebec’s vineyard-covered countryside. On the way, admire the enchanting landscapes of Montreal’s south shore while your guide explains the basics of Quebec wine.

Sample Full-Day Tour:

Head first to the first winery, located on a hillside with an amazing view. Explore the vineyard on a guided walk before touring the winemaking installations and laboratory and taking a lesson on wine tasting basics followed by a blind tasting experience with the winery owner.

Head to your second wine estate, and sit on a beautiful terrace for a gourmet boxed lunch (see below for a sample menu) and a glass of white wine. Then enjoy a full tasting of Val Caudalies’ wines and ciders, followed by some leisure time to relax. A short drive will then take you to your last estate, where you will learn about winemaking techniques and have another full wine tasting.

Sample Half-day Afternoon Tour:
Head to your first winery, located on gorgeous Rougemont hillside, where you’ll be welcomed by the vineyard owners and taken on a guided tour of the estate and the wine cellar. Learn about the culture of vines in Quebec’s challenging climate, then enjoy a full tasting of exclusive wines and ciders paired with a local cheese tasting.

Enjoy the drive to your second stop, a small family owned winery located on the side of Mont-St-Hilaire with breathtaking views. The vineyard owner will welcome you and tell you about the estate and its history and take you on a visit of the winemaking facilities and hear about their special techniques. Then savor a full tasting hosted by the winemaker, who will teach tasting techniques.

Gale was an energetic happy go lucky tour guide. She very familiar with the wine area, and gave us lots of interesting facts about the Quebec wine industry. The wines which we sampled were fabulous. We enjoyed the half day experience with Gale.I would suggest this to anybody that enjoys wine. And another great fact the bus is a small bus so you get to know the passengers. Great time had by all.

This was our first tour on our trip in Canada. We really like that our tour guide Michelle was very knowledgeable and had commentary along the way. The tastings were fun even though I wasnt a fan of the wines. I like that they are all very passionate about what they do. I even got to try their ice Wine. I also liked the vineyard with the animals and the baby llama. Very cute. We had a very nice time.

The tour was amazing, and our tour guide Sabin was excellent, informative, and entertaining. The two vineyards we visited were completely different but we enjoyed both very much. The first one was a larger vineyard with both wines and ciders. The scenery was beautiful overlooking the apple orchards and vineyards. They were very generous with their information and tastings. The second vineyard was quaint, unique and very personable. It was owned and operated by a lovely couple who had built this vineyard from the bottom up. We did 4 tastings at this vineyard that were paired with smoked salmon, smoked pork and cheese.....delicious!!_br/_ I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We did the half day tour as the full day tour was completely booked. _br/_ I have done a few wine tasting tours including Sonoma California and this tour exceeded my expectations and was my favourite thus far. Excellent!! Thanks Pam

This was an excellent tour. The wineries were fabulous, they were very open about how they make there wine and gave us a tour of their winery! The lunch was great we had great cheese and meats! The wines were great, and they were very generous with the pour and the amount we got to sample. The tour guide was excellent on the way out he gave us information history of the city. I would defiantly take this tour again!

This wine tour was fun and interesting despite a bit of rain throughout portions of the day. We were given a tour and brief history of Montreal's structure and changes over time which added to the rustic qualities that this city possesses. We learned of the profitability, landscape challenges and dedication of the owners at the various wineries included in the tour and even made friends with the furry gate keepers at one location. Aside from the technical aspect of wine making, we were enlightened to the possible sensory bias vision vs taste, the dos and don't s of wine storage and selections, food pairings and much more everyday details that are often overlooked or under appreciated. Overall, with the exception of not having plating separation of food products to which cause allergies or better substitute meat items, this was a great tour on which we met great fun loving people, experienced the beauty of the city and had wine that tasted like Friday night!_br/_ the ladies from Toronto

We loved everything about this day. Tour guide was fantastic, fun and knowledgeable! Each winery had a personality of their own with fabulous hosts! The lunch was simply outstanding, and the wine flowed all day long. It was a perfect day. I would absolutely take this tour again and highly recommend to anyone!

Overall the tour was amazing, our tour guide Micheal was informative, entertaining and genuine. The two vineyards we visited were completely different but both completely enjoyed. The first one was a larger vineyard with many different facets, from the beautiful orchard view from the deck, to the lovely wine tasting area. The second vineyard was incredibly unique and impressionable. Built and run by an ambitious and creative couple with incredible vision! It was a beautiful day that made a great impression of Quebec's wine country! Thank you Micheal and Kava tours! Rhonda Smith

We went on the half day tour and the one thing I would point out is that the cheese tasting comes late in the tour and is just that, a small tasting, so be sure to eat lunch before you go. Members of my group were starving by the end._br/_ The coach was comfortable and our tour guide was very nice. The first winery had some great tastings a nice location with some grape vines and an apple orchard, but felt commercial. We purchased a couple of nice wines and the staff was courteous. The second one, Mermures, felt like being in the French countryside. It is built on a hill with the most beautiful flowers along with the grape vines. The owners, a delightful married couple, were knowledgeable and very friendly as they showed us the all of the processing areas in addition to the tastings. They provided samples of salmon and pork that they smoked themselves as well as cheese made by their son - a professional cheesemaker. We purchased some superb wines and hated to leave!

Sabin was an excellent guide. He was very knowable and passionate about the history of the area and the wine making process. We enjoyed the experience at each vineyard! Each was different. It was well worth the cost!!!

Our tour guide Sabine was very entertaining. He was fluent in both English and French plus his knowledge on wine and the history of Quebec was extensive. The wine tour was fabulous and the countryside was amazing. We have been on many wine tours and this one was one of the best. Each of the 3 wineries we visited were very unique and gave lots of different information and tips. The lunch was a culinary delight. There was no skimping on food or the generous pouring of wine samples. We highly recommend this tour.

Highly recommended for this small intimate group about 20 or so. Your tour guide also your driver is very knowledgeable and courteous in all aspects. It's broaden my sights a lot about Canadian wines and what does it made of famous ice cider. My personal preference had gone through the second small vineyard which is managed by a jolly good couple. Her wines should be more recognisable and introduced to the wine bar of Montreal.

I booked the half-day tour because the full-day was unavailable. I had a wonderful time, and it was a good introduction to Canadian wine country. Sabin I think that is the correct spelling, our driver/guide, was knowledgeable and personable. The two wineries/vineyards we visited were very different and provided interesting contrasts in how various wines are produced in the region. I recommend this tour, and being a small-group one, it allows you to more easily meet and interact with others than a large-group tour wouldat least, that has been my experience as a solo traveler.

We visited three wineries just outside Montreal. Each one was unique. We learnt some good information on wine pairing. Our tour guide was excellent and very informative. The only thing we would suggest is that you provide people with some water at one point during the tour maybe after the first winery. Otherwise, everything exceeded our expectations and we would recommend this tour.

This was one of the best wine tasting I have been to. The set up was with small tastes of lemon, sugar, salt to see how each of the wines matched what food you could and should serve with them. Very nice. The other wineries were great but different so the whole day was an excellent mix of wines and vineyards.

We took the 1/2 day tour on a Friday afternoon on our second day in Montreal. Outstanding trip with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. If we visit Montreal again, we'd probably take the tour again. Highly enjoyable afternoon, and learned quite a bit about the Montreal wines and vineyards.

This was my first wine tour and I absolutely loved it. I loved learning more about the wine making process and learning how these producers are now being affected by things like climate change and chemical use. The first vineyard was absolutely beautiful and the wines there were amazing, I bought a bottle of Rose from this one because I loved it so much. The second vineyard was very cool because this one was all about sparkling wine and how that is made. We had lunch in the vineyard house - tons of chatcuterie, cheese, bread and salad. The third vineyard was also an exotic animal farm and we got a little tour of the farmland and saw some of their animals. There was a wedding going on in one of their buildings which was gorgeous with a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Went into their shop to try 3 wines and had some sausage made from the meat of the animals on the farm. Very interesting tour, tons of different wines to taste and it was a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

Very friendly and bubbly tour guide who kept us very entertained! Went to 1 large vineyard and 1 small family-run vineyard which provided great variety and lovely views. Wines were delicious and affordable and ended up buying bottles at both vineyards.

The first stop was the best well organized and very friendly. The other two stops were a bit cold i.e., the persons giving us the wine tasting felt cold and distant. The last stop was weird with a small zoo, which didn't fall into the wine theme don't know what that was all about and the person giving us the wine tasting was cheap with the tasting and didn't have anything prepared like the first stop did. Overall, it's worth a try, but know there are a few shortcomings. Oh, yeah, almost forgot. Our tour guide was nice I'm leaving his name out, but toward the middle of the tour he felt distint because he was paying attention more to the French speaking group, who were small compared to the English speaking group.

Great knowledgable guide. Van pick up and return all on schedule. Trip not true to billing. Instead of two wineries for the half-day trip, we visited one combined winery and cideria with a somewhat confused tasting and very limited snack. Second vineyard was a cideria but very interesting with a good presentation and tasting. Group was about 25 people.

The three visits to different vineyards and cider farm were nicely planned in a way that each was very different. It kept the visit interesting. I especially enjoyed the visit to the Cider farm with the coctail making. _br/_ Good that the group was divided according to the languages. _br/_ At times, I felt that French language would have been needed as some of the information was not translated to English.

A great tour of some two Quebec wineries, one large 150,000 bottles/year and one small literally a mom and pop family dog operation. Four tastes at the large winery and 6 tastes at the other. Culturally mixed group of fellow tasters 18 plus me in a comfortable air conditioned van. If you are interested in wine, then this is the tour for you.

My husband and I booked this tour as part of our anniversary celebration weekend spent in Montreal. We throughly enjoyed it. Half the group was French speaking, the other half English speaking. The bilingual tour guide did an excellent job accommodating both groups. The selection of vineyards was terrific. The three places had different offerings and items of interest. Loved making a cocktail at the second place. Thanks!
