After pickup from your hotel or the Naples train station, take a 30-minute drive to Pompeii, an ancient Roman city that was entirely destroyed by the sudden eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. The largest archaeological site in Europe, today Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you arrive, your guide will pick up your group’s pre-ordered tickets and lead you on a 2-hour walking tour of the fascinating grounds. Witness the destruction first-hand as you visit Pompeii’s most famous sites, including the Forum, the Thermal Baths, Vetti's House and the Lupanare brothel, giving you a glimpse into daily life during the Pax Romana. Today you can see shapes of objects — even bodies — that were buried beneath the volcanic ash and pumice. After your tour, enjoy a pizza lunch with your group followed by some free time to browse the shops. Then board the coach and drive 40 minutes to legendary Mt Vesuvius. Embark on a moderate hike up the volcano with your guide. When you reach the summit at 3,900 feet (1,200 meters), you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the picturesque Bay of Naples from east to west. Peer down into the crater and see plumes of steam issuing from the sleeping, but still active, volcano! There is a rest point where you can choose to wait for your group if you do not wish to climb all the way to the top, but the hike is worth the effort. After your Mt Vesuvius hike, relax on the drive back to Naples in the early evening.
Vesuvius and Pompeii were awesome . The tour was late in getting started, one family was late and there were to many people for the bus. This led to us getting to Vesuvius late and having little time to do this part of the tour. Our guide left in between the portions of the trip and we sat at lunch for almost two hours. The walking tour of Pompeii was informative and well done. Remember to bring a hat and water as there is no shade.

Excellent tour! We were picked up near where we were staying, and took a ride to Pompeii in a large, comfortable van. The tour of Pompeii was very good. Enza was a great tour guide. After that, we had to split into different groups. They took us to a nice restaurant for lunch, then took us on our way to Mt. Vesuvius. Loradena was very informative and the driver navigated the very twisty, narrow roads excellently. The hike to the top was well worth it, too. Overall a great experience.

This was worth the experience, I would recommend it. Our few criticisms are that the group was a little larger than we prefer and we got swapped around to a few different tour guides throughout the day, and the hike up Vesuvius was not guided. They gave info about the volcano while driving up to the parking area, but it was up to us to hike. I could have used a little more information while taking the hike. Just some FYIs: As usual with these kind of tours, the time allotted to hike was barely enough to get to the top and back. We were given about 1 hour, 15 minutes total at Vesuvius. The description of the hike as 'moderate' is accurate considering there is a wide walkway and there is no climbing, but it is rather steep and very rocky so caution must be taken to walk up and down. Also the steepness can be challenging especially considering the height above sea level.

We opted for the pickup from hotel option and the operator was flexible and organized about the pickup location. The bus goes up to the parking spot halfway up Vesuvius and then one has to hike up the rest of the way for 20 minutes, which is moderately strenuous but quite fine. The lunch provided was pretty good, with the option of pizza or a pasta. Our only grouse was that Miguela our guide on the bus was a bit sloppy with the head count and went ahead to the restaurant without some of the group. We had to find the place ourselves. The Pompeii tour was very informative and we enjoyed it thoroughly. A very good tour overall.

To start with our guide for Pompeii was 40 forty! minutes late. Also during 2 hours tour we were mainly standing and did not walk around very much and therefore did not see a lot. The lunch was awful - huge restaurant where after 30-40 minutes waiting they through at your table either cheapest possible pizza or Bolognese no other choices. Our guides from Project Napoli Service were more interested in themselves and flirting with a driver than in us._br/_ Mt Vesuvius crater was very interesting to see and definitely worth a little climb._br/_ If you are luckier than we were with the tour guides and they change a restaurant for lunch the tour would be brilliant.

It was a great tour. We received the information about the exact time and place of the pick-up the day before in the evening as it was agreed upon booking. Our tour leader was lovely, and the expert guides on Mt. Vesuvius and in Pompeii were amazing. Lunch was also good, we all could choose between 3 different lunch options when we got to the restaurant. At Mt. Vesuvius we had 1 hour and 15 minutes of time to walk up this took about 15-20 min, listen to the guide and go back. We had bad weather so we didn't see the view of the Bay of Naples but it was still an amazing experience. Maybe half an hour more at the volcano would be better, just to have more time to take photos, but still, it was a great excursion. I would recommend it to everyone.

Pompeii was amazing and our guide Marie fantastic! We where passed off to Martina and Manuela for the second half of the tour. Lunch was awesome!!! Wish we had more time at Mt. Versuvius it's a rush to get to the top and back down in time for the bus, and I'm 30 lol.

Wow this tour was amazing. They pick you up, give you a guide through pompeii, you get an awesome pizza lunch WITH a drink of your choice-including alcohol and then they take you to Vesuvius and you have a good amount of time to wander up. Would recommend!

The tour guide was very informative though it wasn’t for me, I very much enjoyed learning more about it and seeing the history but felt like areas where missed. Mt. Vesuvius did not dissapoint, it was a great walk with fantastic views. Couldn’t complain about the free pizza lunch either.

Can't say enough good things about this tour and the company. Tour guides are so friendly and the company is very organized. We booked at the last minute and underestimated how much time it would take us to get into Naples and meet the tour. We called thinking that we had missed the tour and they were so helpful and arranged for us to meet them at the next stop. Our tour guide through Pompeii was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and we left having a greater appreciation for Roman life. Probably one of the best tours I have ever taken. Lunch was delicious. The pizza in enough to feed two people, but it is so good, you find a way to eat the whole thing! Mt. Vestuvius was awesome. Seeing the crater up close and the view from the top was a great experience. At the end of the tour, we still had to find a way back to our car because we had met the tour late. One of the tour guides volunteered to take us to the train station, helped us buy tickets and made sure we made it back to our car. A fantastic experience from start to finish!

Because of the queues up to Mt Vesuvius we were literally only allowed 70 minutes from getting off the coach to getting up and down Vesuvius which takes 20-30 minutes so not a lot of time left if you needed the loo big queuesso not enough time to take it easy up to the crater or look in the gift shops. Had we known that other people were not abiding by the time, we would have certainly taken our time too but then again 2 wrongs dont make a right it was all a little rushed would have appreciated another half hour although we were still waiting for some people after the allotted time. Pompeii was amazing not at all what I was expecting and our guide was very good . The lunch included was fine if you like pizz or pasta but I dont eat either and wasnt offered an alternative so had to go to the shop, I ended up with a bag of crisps for lunch!! We were meant to be back at the shop by 5pm but it was more like 6 due to traffic and waiting about for inconsiderate people. We are glad we went in the trip Mt Vesuvius was our highlight but was disappointing but Pompeii outweighed our expectations

4.5/5 stars no option for half It was great experience and at a very reasonable price. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable and we learned a lot from a short trip. The pick up/ drop of was slick and right from our hotel door!_br/_ The only reason Id mark them down is as with most tours operating on a tight schedule there was no time for comfort breaks - Id recommend peeing at every opportunity and taking snacks with you on the fly.

Totally amazing experience. The view from the top of Versuvius is well worth the climb. The ability of our driver to navigate the roads and traffic was astounding. Tour guides were knowledgeable and communicated clearly and easily with the group as well as wanting to respond to any questions. Meeting points were clearly set out and the schedule was followed without feeling rushed. Highly recommend doing this tour.

I booked this trip as we had limited time and we wanted to see as much as possible. We never usually do organised trips, preferring to find our own way, but this was definitely the best option! Picked up from our hotel on time, very friendly guide who told us all exactly how the day would go. On arrival at Pompeii we met different guides depending on our language and had a tour full of information. It was still busy despite being early in the year so you need to keep up with your guide! If we had gone on our own we could have spent a day easily as there was so much to see, however the tour covered the main areas really well. Lunch was well organised, it's a good opportunity to chat with other people on the trip. A tasty pizza each and a drink of your choice included. then well organised into mini buses depending on your final destination before going to Vesuvius. We were lucky with the weather, Pompeii was T-shirts, and then Vesuvius had snow on the top, so be prepared. The walking part to the rim of the crater is rather more than the 20 minutes stated and is a bit of a trek, this from a reasonably fit person, so pace yourself. Definitely worth it to see the gases coming from fissures inside the crater. I would recommend this trip particularly if you are only in Naples for 2 or 3 days.

Maybe it is more interesting with a different guide but boring. Lunch was noodles with something that looked like sauce but is questionable. If you like Chef Boyardee then you will love lunch.

Well coordinated tour. The group was somewhat on the larger side 20ish people but the use of headsets made this an non-issue. Our guide, Elisa, did an excellent job narrating our visit to Pompeii. She was both informative and incredibly funny - one of the best guides we had on our entire trip. Lunch is at a nearby pizza place followed by the hike to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, which we were unfortunately unable to do due to weather issues closing the road for safety issues.

Great tour which gave us the opportunity to visit Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius all in the same day. Even though the weather was against us and it rained throughout the day the Pompeii guide didn't let this dampen their spirits. A good informative tour of Pompeii which you wouldn't have got without the guide pointing out places and areas of interest, if I had visited Pompeii without the guide I wouldn't have learnt half the amount that I have._br/_ Mt Vesuvius is a moderate hike which in the fog which descended during our trip made the climb extremely difficult and did not give us the views of Naples we had hoped for however the tour guide stopped the coach on the way back down the mountain so we were able to still take photos once we had descended out of the fog. _br/_ Great trip and well organised, I especially liked that we were picked up and dropped off at out hotel which made the whole thing a lot easier as we didn't have to spend time trying to find a pick up point.

Loved this tour! The tour of Pompeii was amazing and very informative. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable. Pizza lunch was delicious. Vesuvius hike was unreal and luckily we had perfect weather! The hike is pretty steep but not too bad. Wish we had more time up top, only had a little over 1hr

Well organised, very interesting and educational. Our guides and drivers were excellent and very knowledgeable. Pompeii is fascinating and a hugely popular visitor attraction so was very busy but we still saw and learned a great deal. Lunch was at a family run restaurant recommended by the guides - the food was freshly cooked and tasty. Our guide told us many interesting facts on the minibus journey to Mount Vesuvius and the walk up to the summit was well worth the effort although it was steep - the views from the top across the whole of the bay of Naples were amazing. Really enjoyable day.

I enjoyed both Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. I didn't like having to rush: a little more time could have been given both after the visit to the ruins, to buy some souvenirs, and for the climbing, as one hour and a half to ascend the volcano and go down requires being quite well trained and there isn't almost any time to take some photos._br/_ All things considered, I wouldn't say it was very good value for money.

Maria was an awesome host, the Vezuvio is much colder than what we expected it to be really, even when the weather was 15 degrees in the city, it was below freezing up there, and the Pompeii tour was simply breathtaking!

So we spent 81 pounds each total 162 pounds for this trip..._br/_ We went to Pompeii on a Sunday when we found out later that entry is free on a Sunday! AND even if it is not free the entrance is 18 euros each! We had 2 hours to see a city that could take 4 days to see completely, it was busy and there was literally no time to see much of the ruins and admire the scenery._br/_ Next we had a margarita pizza worth 5 euros and 1 drink! We were taken to the foot of Mt Vesuvius only to be told we had to literally run up and get back in 1.5 hours. Note it is a good 30-40 min walk if you are reasonably fit to get to the top.... _br/_ I believe the entrance to do the walk is 10 euros!

This is magnificent. You do need to be fairly fit though to walk to the top, so take that in mind - its pretty steep and loose rocks make it a bit tricky if your not steady on your feet. I loved it and the view from the top is breathtaking. Highly recommend this tour option.

The tour was very well organized. The bus was on time and we were welcomed by very friendly tour guides. The bus drove us very safely to Pompeii and there we received a headset so we could hear the tour guide even if we were not directly in visible range or her. The guide was very informative and learned us a lot about the history in around two hours. _br/_ Afterwards, we had lunch at a restaurant which was quite okay, but nothing special. Next, we got back on the bus and drove up the Vesuvius. There we had about one hour and fifteen minutes to hike up approx 20mins is you have a good physical condition. At the top, there are gorgeous views of Napoli, Pompeii and of course the crater of the volcano. There are some shops to get souvenirs or a glass of local wine. _br/_ After the hike down the bus was waiting for us and drove us back to Napoli. All in all a very good day and totally worth the money, because everything fits together. It would be nearly impossible to see both sites in one day with public transport.

We were only visiting Naples for a few days and therefore being able to see Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius in one day was a fantastic option and reasonable value via Viator given all that was included. Booking online was very straightforward and email confirmation was immediate. Once we arrived in Italy I called the company to check where we'd be picked up, since our hotel was in the historic district on a narrow street. The woman who I spoke with was very helpful, spoke excellent English and gave me very clear instructions as to where and when we would be picked up - just a 5 minute walk away from our hotel. We were picked up exactly on time and the bus was extremely comfortable and air conditioned!. There was just one more stop - at Naples central station - before we headed off to Pompeii. Our guide on the bus I forget her name! was excellent, talking to us throughout the journey in English, Spanish and French to explain what we were seeing as we travelled to Pompeii and also to explain what to expect once we got there.

We had a truly wonderful time during this tour! Our guide through Pompeii was knowledgeable, friendly and kept our group engaged and laughing. Lunch was delicious and gave us a chance to rest after the long walk through Pompeii. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing too strongly that day and we didn't get to the top of Mt. Vesuvius but we did stop at a lookout near the top to still get some great photos.

Great tour. Comfortable van. Our tour guide was good. The lunch was an amazing napolitan pizza and wine. The reason I gave 4 stars is because we were not given time to souvenir shop around Pompeii. I collect souvenirs from all over the world, so it was disappointing for me.

This tour is exactly what you'd expect. You get taken to Pompeii, get a good tour and then are taken to Vesuvius where you have the option to hike to the top or not. Good trip, but not a huge standout in my book.

We had a very enjoyable day trip to Pompeii. We were promptly picked up from our hotel. There was a little hanging about waiting for other coaches to drop people to us, but with the chaos of Naples traffic that wasnt surprising. Once we got to Pompeii all was great. We had a marvellous tour guide and had a good couple of hours being taken round. Pompeii is a huge area, you could be there for days! _br/_ We were taken to a nearby restaurant for lunch which was very tasty. Then on to Vesuvius. Unfortunately for us when we got there it was closed! Then day had suddenly got terribly windy and a couple of people had fallen on the climb up. So it had been decided by the authorities that it was too dangerous. We were offered the chance to return the next day by the company or to claim a refund. Otherwise I would have rated this tour 5/5.

The group size was too large and, while I appreciated having a guide through Pompei, it felt rushed and I would have preferred more time. I can't comment on Mount Vesuvius as the crater was closed due to high winds. Obviously this was not Viator's or the tour company's fault and we did receive a small partial refund but it was nonetheless disappointing as we could have easily gone to Pompei on our own and we only booked the tour for Vesuvius.

Really enjoyed the visit to Pompeii. Our guide brought the stones to life as she had us visualize life as it was before the volcanic eruption. There was no guide to explain Mount Vesuvius. We just walked up, viewed the crater and returned in the allotted time._br/_ The afternoon before, I had to call the local contact number to confirm pick up location and time. Our pickup close to the hotel happened as described, and logistics ran smoothly. After visiting Vesuvius, we had to wait about 1/2 hour for all participants to return to the buses and be allocated to their return vehicle. That was a little irritating. The organizers might have been more clear and emphatic on return time and location to regroup at the base of Vesuvius, so we did not have to wait so long for fellow hikers! If you are participating - respect the time and confirm regroup location if you are not sure. Organizers - say things twice and be clear with instructions.

Good guide in Pompeii and nice walk up to the crater of V. It was a pity that the weather was very foggy and we couldn't see Naples, but the hike was worthwhile the trip.
