Naples Shore Excursion: Capri Day Trip with Lunch from Naples

Naples, Italy

Take advantage of your time in port with this Naples shore excursion to Capri. Enjoy an exciting hydrofoil boat ride across the Bay of Naples to the dazzling Mediterranean island of Capri, and be captivated by its colorful harbors, craggy coastline, Imperial Roman villas and hilltop ocean views. Your guide will offer recommendations for sights and activities during your free time in the village of Anacapri, such as a chairlift ride up Monte Solare, a boat ride to the Blue Grotto or a visit to dreamy Villa San Michele. Sit down to lunch with your fellow travelers and end the day with a tour of the beautiful Gardens of Augustus.

When your cruise ship arrives in Naples, meet your guide at the port and board a hydrofoil for your journey to Capri. After an exciting 40-minute ride, arrive at Capri's main harbor, where you'll then transfer to a minibus and head to Anacapri.
Enjoy one hour of free time to explore this lovely village at your own leisure and expense. Your guide can give recommendations on things to do and see based on your interests. Take a boat ride to the mysterious Blue Grotto or, for amazing views of the island and the Bay of Naples, take the chairlift up to Monte Solare or stroll to one of Capri's most-visited attractions, Villa San Michele, built on the ruins of an ancient chapel dedicated to San Michele.
For a more relaxing experience, simply scope out a cozy café terrace to admire the scenery and soak up the cool Mediterranean vibes.
Around midday, head to a local restaurant with your group for a 3-course lunch. Follow with a guided walking tour of the Gardens of Augustus, situated on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the iconic Faraglioni rock formations.
Afterwards, re-board the hydrofoil and savor more views on the ride back to Naples.
Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Naples port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Excellent tour! Guide was wonderful and we got to see and do so much. As we were on a cruise we were very grateful we managed to get earlier ferry tickets back to save rushing to get back onboard. Can thoroughly recommend.

This is a good tour. However, the tour company failed to realize another cruise ship had completely booked the 10:00 AM ferry to Capri, so we had to wait until 11:00AM cutting off an hour of our tour. We had been met at our ship at 8:30 so it was a very long wait. They should have pre-booked the tickets for our tour group, not wait until that morning to get the tickets. The young tour guide was not that into conducting this tour. He did an adequate job but no more. Arriving later than expected on Capri caused themt o have to adjust the tour. Because we had no leeway in our return time, the other older guide took us back to the port right after lunch and suggested we take a boat tour around the island, which we did paid extra on our own that was excellent. The older guide got us return tickets for the ferry and told us to make sure we were at the boat by 4:15. When we looked at the tickets after he left us, we realized there were for a later time. We panicked at first and stood in line at the ferry ticket booth to try to change them -to no avail. So having no choice or any contact for the local guides we just went with the tickets to the earlier ferry. Fortunately they let us on the boat but it was stressful none the less.

This was exactly the same tour offered by our Holland America cruise but for much less. The tour unfortunately left one hour later than the ship's and consequently made our return one hour later than theirs. Luckily, we just made it back in time because when the ship says be back by their sailing time, they mean exactly that!! Because we had grown up listening to our parent's Gracie Fields records, we had always wanted to see where she spent the latter part of her life. The time to get to Capri from Naples was one hour each way which I hadn't realized. It is a very beautiful island for the wealthy as everything is so expensive. The included lunch was poor and the can of Pepsi cost 4 Euros.........ridiculous!! Still, glad we did it. Thanks Viator.

Handicapped by people on the tour who were late._br/_ If the tour knows there are members who are from a cruise ship, you cannot schedule a boat trip around

The information on where to meet was not on the voucher. We had to find someone at the port to help us. The guide was late to pick us up and his time keeping on the tour was terrible. We took an earlier ferry back from Capri as we did not trust the guide to get us back before the ship sailed. Our tour was to start at 8:45 and we did not catch the ferry until 9:30. Although Capri was super crowded, it was an okay experience. The Blue Grotto was closed due to waves and the lines were too long to do anything else. The lunch was okay, but not great.

Capri is a beautiful place but the organization of our tour leads a lot to be desired. Started with 12 people and grew to 42 with 2 tour guides. Never knew which tour guide we were supposed to be with. Didn't guide us to the Augustus Gardens so many did not make it. We were supposed to meet at 8:45 and leader was late. Caught 9:30 ferry to Capri but never got on minivan to Anicapri till 11. Unfortunately 2 hours were wasted when we could have been touring. Would recommend Capri but just not happy with our tour company experience. Since we had been to Capri before we could help the couple with us.

Mainly just transfers, only very little background stories about the history or the island. Included lunch was an affront to Neapolitan kitchen. So transfer by boat was 40, on island lets say 20 in total and lunch was worth no more than 10... Leaves more than enough for the guides to explain a bit more...

The lunch was wonderful. The tour was great though seas too rough to see the blue grotto. It is a great way to see capri and take a shot at viewing the blue grotto.

This was a fine tour with a smaller crowd which we prefer. Though the tour was rather enlightening, our tour guide was hard to understand as he had a very heavy local dialect for our English speaking group. I would have preferred to have a more extensive walking tour in Capri but our time was abbreviated as we had a limited window to board our ship. We would have also appreciated a longer van ride further around the island to see more of the shoreline but instead, we were directed to take the tram back down the hill. In retrospect, a more extensive van tour would have been more appreciated. On a high note, the lunch stop was excellent!

We met the first guide outside the maritime port building. He escorted us across the parking lot to the right dock for the boat to Capri. He gave us our tickets and left, saying we'd be met by guides. The boat was fast and completely full. Arriving at Capri, we were met by Pepi 1 and Pepi 2, and the large family from Spain that comprised our group. We took off in the small vehicle to go up to Anacapri, and Pepi explained that we had the option to choose to see the blue grotto for an additional fee or not. The family went to the grotto, and we were left to be on our own for an hour and a half. We walked to the edge and saw the beautiful views and did some nice shopping. They escorted us to lunch, which was very simple, they took us to the lower level and we did some more shopping. I don't consider this an escorted tour per say... but they did facilitate the transportation and made sure we got on the right boat home.

Got to see everything we wanted. Visited Capri, had a great lunch and just thoroughly enjoyed the entire venture. The weather was great! Most importantly, our guides were always there to help and answer any questions. They made me and my wife feel secure and relaxed, which made the excursion that much better.

Capri was beautiful but I probably would not take this tour again. We were met at the ship at 8:45 but our guides did not show up until almost 9:30. There were very nice but we felt like everything was a little fly by the seat of your pants Since we to take a ferry back and forth to Capri, we had to take the 3:30 ferry to be sure we were back on time. So we really had a 6 hour tour instead of an 8 hour one

Started off unorganized. We were first to arrive at pier from our ship to catch boat to Capri, ended up being the last to board and at the bottom of the 3 level boat, awful trip over. Had to wait almost 1 hour to catch a bus to AnnaCapri due to amount of tourists waiting before us. We ended up having a good day, ending with a boat tour around the island, which was the highlight.

Except for waiting almost 30 minutes for our tour guide this was a great tour. It offered more sightseeing in Capri than any of the ship's shore excursions and we were returned in time for our ships departure. If you take this tour I would highly recommend taking the chairlift in Anacapri. The views were incredible!!

The tour was nice! Our guide met us in the cruise terminal and walked us next door to the ferry terminal where we boarded our hydrofoil to Capri. There was a lot of walking as the group split up based on what people wanted to do. Some folks opted for the blue grotto while others went to Anacapri

We loved this trip and Pepe, our guide, was great. However your write-up states the crossing from Naples is via hydrofoil; apparently there has been no hydrofoil there for 10 years. The start of this was very confusing. One lady met us at the terminal and walked us to the ferry dock where we waited for another lady to bring us tickets where we waited again until a man came over to take us to the ferry (we thought he was our guide). However, he told us when we got to Capri our guide would meet us. Luckily they put a sticker on our lapels so Pepe would recognize us. Even with the confusing start of this tour it was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. Disappointed we didn't get the hydrofoil trip, though._br/_ ,

We were very disappointed with our Viator excursion to Capri. Capri is absolutely beautiful but the tour lacked any personal touch and the many transitions from cruise boat to hydrofoil, to tour bus to town, back to tour bus to next stop, etc were very un-organised and meant the group had to stand around in the hot sun waiting to be collected each time. The mini-bus was extremely uncomfortable - filled (squashed) to capacity and the seats were so small that most of the adults couldn;t even fit their knees behind the seat in front. The air conditioning on the mini bus didn't work very well either. Our guide Pepe, seemed very uninterested in his role and appeared very happy whenever he could get rid of us for 'free time' or lunch. The lunch was very disappointing. We were looking forward to some quality Naples/Capri food and it was nothing but bland and basic. They rushed us in and then rushed us out. After lunch we told Pepe that we wanted to go to the Blue Grotto and he told us that we couldn't because the lines would be too long. When we insisted this was how we wanted to spend our afternoon free time he gave us our return hydrofoil tixs and told us he was no longer responsible and we would be at risk of missing the boat back to our cruise ship. We ended up getting a private boat tour around the island which included a visit to the Blue Grotto. It was absolutely beautiful and the best part of our day. In hindsight, I wish we visited Capri without the huge cost of the viator excursion.

Hurried off the boat and then waited over an hour for the guide to show up. Waited for the part of the tour group that wanted to take a boat trip around the island (extra cost) then returned to Naples with little time left to see the city. The tour had too much free time padded in that could have been used to see Naples. Find a different company to do business with.

Great tour to see the beautiful island. Expect a large crowed during cruise ship season we have four ships docked in Naples and there were people everywhere on the island.

Was at the port terminal at designated time of 8.30 a.m to be told ferry time would be 9.30 a.m. There were four of us in the group and we requested an earlier ferry, not wanting to waste an hour. The representative from the tour company was able to get us on the 9.05 a.m. ferry but only after our insistence. On arrival in Capri we met our guide who was a very nice man and he made us most welcome. After the mini-bus ride to Anacapri - a hair-raising experience along the "Mama Mia Road" with its narrow streets - we made our way to the chairlift which took us to the top of Monte Solare (additional charge). The views from the top were magnificent. Others in the group wanted to visit the Blue Grotto but I had already visited this on a previous visit to Capri. It was agreed that to avoid the crowds a mini bus would take us to the other side of the island so that the others in the group could use the steps down to board the boat into the Grotto. The guide asked for an additional payment for this but it was worth it as this route meant only a 10 min wait for the other three to see this amazing sight. On arrival back in Capri we had some free time to wander around the tiny streets and shop for bargains. We then met our guide and had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. We were scheduled to return on the 16.30 ferry back to Naples but we all felt it would be sensible to return earlier. Because we had already arranged our return ferry tickets they could not be transferred so we paid another Euros 16 to get back on an earlier ferry. We decided to take the funicular back to the harbour and then caught the 15.30 ferry back. This was a most enjoyable tour and the guide was very knowledgeable, most polite and most attentive to my needs in particular, as I have mobility problems and he ensured I was coping with the amount of walking involved. Being in a small group was much nicer than going with lots of people. Thank you for a most enjoyable day out.

The island was beautiful. The boat/shuttle ferry ride over was fine. The depressing part of the tour was the tour directors and the absurdly included lunch and general rip-off lunch extras at the Viatoer assigned lunch spot.

Our guide was lacking in personality and we had the feeling this was just a "job" to him._br/_ The last straw was when he kept our return ferry tickets and, even though we were ready_br/_ to leave much earlier, we nearly missed our ships` departure. We had to run across a dark_br/_ parking lot and it was stressful!!!! Didn't think too much of the lunch offered. Tour was overpriced for what we received, could have done better on our own for less !!!!

The tender to the island went smoothly, but from there, the tour was completely disorganized. There were only 7 people on our tour, so it should have been manageable.

Our tour guide Roberta was distracted and disinterested. She spent almost as much time on her mobile phone with what seemed like a personal matter than talking with us. If we didn't ask questions we wouldn't have gotten any information about Capri at all. I had called Viator prior to our tour and were assured that the tour cost included admission to Villa San Michele and it was not. We had to pay out of pocket and again Roberta did not accompany us. We had high expectations based on Viator's reputation, but were terribly disappointed.

Scenery wonderful but overall impression disappointing. We arrived early, two from the group were very late so we started 30mins late. Our cruise ship had final boarding 4.30pm which threw our guide as she had us returning after 5pm. This appeared to put her out as she asked if we were sure we were right as no ships left that early . As far as we know Holland America always does (4 people came from this ship). She did not give out enough information about the whole tour. We had under an hour in Anacapri before lunch then immediately after lunch we went down to Capri Town. Those of us from our cruise had 5 minutes to look around, increased to 10 minutes if we took the funicular down (which we had to pay for)._br/_ Our guide the gave us 10 minutes while she bought the ferry tickets which she gave to us then left us to get on the ferry and go back to our ship. We felt very rushed and that the tour was not value for money.

This was a great tour, Capri is beautiful. Highly recommend taking the optional chairlift ride to the top. Our guide was personable and lunch was good. Small friendly group. My only gripe was the blue grotto boat ride cost 18 euro extra and those that went said they couldn't go inside the blue grotto anyway.
